View Full Details of The MallardsAfter years of caring for our mum who had dementia we no longer could cope and reluctantly had to find a care home for her. After searching we decided on the Mallards, a decision we didn’t regret as the care she received was wonderful. Sally the manager is truly a caring person and this is reflected in all the staff who were all lovely and nothing was ever too much trouble. We felt very supported by them in this difficult time and that was a great comfort to all the family. Thank you all so much.
We visited The Mallards as a potential home for my mother-in-law and almost immediately noticed the warm, happy and calm atmosphere. She has now been living there permanently since October 2023 and has received the best possible care. The staff are caring and attentive, always assuring the residents' needs are met and that they feel happy and secure and they do it with a smile! The food is very good, her room is always clean and tidy so in my view - excellent.
My mum-in-law has been at The Mallards Nursing Home for six years. The care she receives is second to none. She is 99 years old and can be very demanding at times. They have barbecues and fetes in the summer. ln the winter, they have people singing carols, get-togethers with friends and families. Mallards is always doing something for the residents, so they are never bored. The home is lovely and clean, the residents are well cared for. Would definitely recommend.
The care my mother received at The Mallards was exceptional. All staff were caring and kind and treated my mum with dignity. We are so grateful that mum was at The Mallards for the last few years and the end of life care she received was dignified.
I cannot praise The Mallards highly enough, Mum spent the last six years of her life there, in a very happy environment. The staff were always willing to go the extra mile and nothing was too much trouble, some staff members even learned Latvian phrases to make Mum feel at home. The food was first-class as were the activities. I also loved the garden in the summer months for visiting Mum. If I go into a care home, I hope it is as good as The Mallards.
My mother was a resident of this home for six and a half years. Sadly, she died recently. The manager and her team looked after her extremely well. We always felt reassured that she was receiving the best care. We were always informed of any changes in her health. We continue to recommend this care home to friends.
I cannot praise The Mallards highly enough for the overall standard of care given to my mother, who has been a resident there since 2021. All the staff are exemplary in my opinion with the love and attention they give Mum with her individual needs. Mum is very happy there and feels safe, which given her condition of recovering, as much as possible, from a stroke, is highly important. For me personally, given I live in France, it is a huge comfort knowing she is in very safe and caring hands. My brother and other relatives also tell me how wonderful she is being cared for. I cannot recommend the home enough.
My mother was a resident of The Mallards for two years. Although it is an older building, the standard of cleanliness is excellent and the maintenance team have been happy to put up shelves, pictures etc. to help personalise the room and make it cosy for Mum. The carers are attentive, patient and kind, showing genuine interest in my mother's past life, experiences and travels, as well as respectfully attending to her personal and health needs. The management team are friendly and approachable. Despite being very busy, they are always willing to listen and laugh yet seriously discuss any concerns, creating a warm, welcoming and cheerful home for the residents and visitors.
The Mallards is a lovely care home. The staff are friendly and helpful, warmly welcoming to family and visitors and provide great care for my mum. They looked after Mum so well during Covid, for which we are so grateful, and I have nothing but admiration and respect for the way all the staff maintained such a high level of care during an exceptionally difficult and challenging time. The home is always clean, the food is good and there is lots of it. There are daily activities for the residents to do including arts and crafts, bingo etc, as well as seasonal events like the Garden Party, Summer BBQ and the legendary Christmas Party - which is fab and includes a brilliant raffle! The staff often give up their own time to come in and make these events so lovely for residents and visitors. The only small negative would be that the building is old and needs a bit of an update, but that is minor and doesn't detract from the level of care given. I would definitely recommend The Mallards.
Very pleased as nothing is too much. Great attention to their jobs. Really good attitudes as well as being lovely people and staff, keep it up, Staff are a credit to their job and keep an amazing work ethic throughout their work!
Excellent staff throughout the care home, very caring and keep a high standard of care. The care home is always clean and has a very welcoming atmosphere, go the extra mile caring for residents and always look after visitors!
My mum came here as an emergency respite and has ended up staying permanently. Since the first day, the manager has been really friendly and reassuring. Listened when I told her my worries. But I've had no need to worry. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They reassure the residents and are there when they need them, even when they are under pressure, and looking at the food that they are given, it's a shame I can't move in!
The Mallards is a wonderful place - the staff are so friendly and helpful. My mother-in-law wasn't there long but they all looked after her so well and made her feel at home. There are plenty of staff and lots of things to do. I would recommend it to anyone with loved ones needing care.
My involvement with Mallards Care Home goes back to five years. I have had the opportunity to meet the owners and staff. I have found the staff to be polite, caring, passionate and seem to enjoy their work. The lift breaks down occasionally which creates anxiety. The heating system needs to be investigated - Generally too hot in my brother's room.
I fill out this form with only positive feedback and high praise for the whole team at The Mallards, regarding my father's care. Starting with his pre-arrival and the communication and information gathering process in finding out who my Dad is and was. The effective use of this information when he arrived, to help him settle. This, in addition to treating him with respect, the utmost care and being gentle with him too. Talking to him throughout, explaining what is being done and why. Always going the extra mile by talking to Dad in foreign languages and having the male team matron talk to him too, as he is responsive to him. Treating him like a human being with compassion. There is so much to say - thank you so very, very much.
My father-in-law chose this care home, he is as happy as he can be (due to health issues) but most importantly he feels safe here and that is just so important to me. All of the staff here do their very best for the residents and they always seem to be getting on with everything in a very happy way. The visitor's rules set by the government are followed stringently and I am happy about that, I sleep well knowing that he is being well cared for there.
Lovely atmosphere, very welcoming and very caring staff. Couldn’t be happier with the mallards overall. Will highly recommend it to anyone. Keep up the great work. We also love the fact that we can visit in the garden.
My father went to the home in early 2021, after receiving his first Covid jab. As it was in lockdown, we could not inspect the room etc but my friend's mother had been a resident and her family had been very happy with the care provided and strongly recommended it. The staff are all so friendly and my father is very content. As his daughters, we have been made to feel very welcome and involved.
My mother-in-law has been a resident for 2-years. I have found the staff very friendly and caring towards her and myself. Under very difficult COVID rules, which they have stuck to however hard, it’s been for them, they have remained very kind and caring. They keep me well informed when necessary if there are any problems. The food always looks nicely presented and varied. I would not hesitate to recommend The Mallards. The only negative comment is the fact it’s an old building and needs a bit of an update. In my opinion, the CQC report does not reflect my experience with The Mallards.
My sister was happy and smiled a lot when the staff talked to her. Staff seemed very caring and showed my sister a lot of affection and understanding of her needs. The home was well cared for and there were no odours. A lot of activities going on and my husband (her brother in law) was made very welcome.
