View Full Details of St Christopher'sSt Christopher's is an outstanding care home. It has a wonderful, welcoming atmosphere with incredibly caring and experienced staff. They are an exceptional and motivated team of people who take a lot of pride in doing a good job. They have got to know my Mum and really treat her like a family member. My mother loves singing and used to be in a choir, we were so touched that they recognised this and asked her to sing with another member of staff at the recent carol concert. That is just one example of the ethos at St Christopher's of treating residents as individuals. Visiting Mum is a happy experience because she is so settled and the staff are so welcoming. The home is beautifully maintained with the look of a well appointed private house with lovely bathrooms. As my mother has Alzheimer's it has been a worrying time. Moving here has changed the situation for the better to the extent that her Alzheimer's has remained stable since she came to the home in April '24.
St Christopher's is a homely place to live, with lovely colours everywhere, comfortable sofas and armchairs in the sitting room and a dining room laid out beautifully for meals, always celebrating whatever time of year it is. Their Christmas decorations throughout the home are fabulous. The staff are all permanent, well trained and rotated on occasions between St Christopher's and the adjacent their sister site to provide continuity of care and cover over the long term. There is good communication between staff on the different rotas and I especially notice how cheery and on the ball the night shifters are. My experience of the staff is that they are respectful to residents, kind and conscientious.
My Mum moved into St Christopher's Care Home in November 2019 when she could no longer live independently in her own home. From the very first day, she was made to feel welcome. It was a home away from home. Everything about St Christopher's is exceptional. Spotlessly clean, bright and airy, superb grounds and wonderful catering. When Mum's health began to deteriorate, both the medical care and pastoral care were excellent and the communication with the family was very clear and concise. All through the COVID pandemic, we were able to maintain contact with Mum. Over the past couple of years, Mum was on end-of-life care, which was thoughtful and sensitive. All her needs were met without fail. Mum passed away peacefully in October and even in her final hours the staff went the extra mile for both her and the family. We cannot praise or thank everyone associated with St Christopher's enough.
My mother has been at St Christopher's for over 3 years and we have been delighted with the quality of service and care. She has been able to join in lots of activities and trips and has been part of a community whereas prior to moving to St Christopher's she led an increasingly isolated life. I cannot recommend it too highly!
St Christopher's is set in a beautiful and peaceful location, full of wildlife. The care my mum receives at St Christopher's is second to none. Mum was very unsettled when she first moved there but the staff went out of their way to make that transition go very smoothly. The staff are truly very caring in the way they care for Mum and also take time to get to know the families. The residents are kept busy with lots of daily activities which are captured in a monthly newsletter. There is a real community atmosphere, families are invited to join residents at events such as firework evening and summer fete and many events in the church including a carol concert and to celebrate Nurses Day.
St Christopher's is unlike any other care home I've visited (and I looked at a few when trying to find the right place for my Mother). It is small and friendly, truly a home not just a care facility. There isn't a high turnover of staff, which speaks volumes and is so important for my mum who has dementia. The kindness, care, and compassion she is shown, on a daily basis is wonderful. The place is in a beautiful setting, the rooms are lovely and there is a great range of activities but, most importantly there is a personal touch in the way the staff care for and interact with the residents as individuals.
A fabulous home with staff who are both professional but also, and far more importantly, care for each person as an individual. The staff are flexible and accommodating both for the residents but also their visitors. My mum had an easy transition into this home, quickly falling in love with the peaceful dining room space where she could enjoy the beautiful garden. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.
We looked at a lot of care homes when my Mother was no longer able to live at home. As soon as we walked into St Christopher's we knew we had found a special place. It is small and homely, the bedrooms are very comfortable. The staff are all kind and caring, there are activities every day and every resident is treated as an individual. The staff pay great attention to the needs of the residents and if they are at all concerned about my Mother they ring immediately. The home is always very clean and everything smells fresh. My Mother has now lived at St Christopher's for two years and I'm still very pleased that we chose St Christopher's.
My mother has resided at St Christopher's for over two years and the care that she receives there is exemplary. Although she is 94 and has Alzheimer's Dementia the staff treat her as an individual and specially cater for her interests, namely music and current affairs. The atmosphere and decor is that of a country hotel, the food varied and appetising. The staff are kind and caring, continuity is good and we are welcomed as friends. The grounds are glorious and beautifully kept. Many activities are provided both inside the home, in the grounds and also trips out. My sisters and I feel very fortunate to have found such a lovely place for our mother's remaining years.
My mother moved into St Christopher’s for the last year of her life, when she could no longer live independently at home and she would often tell us how happy she was. The kindness, care, compassion and love she was shown, especially in the last few days of her life, was wonderful. There is not a high turnover of staff, which speaks volumes and is so important for my mum who had dementia. You can always speak to someone in times of need. The place is in a beautiful setting, the rooms are lovely and there are a great range of activities. But, above all, there was the personal touch in the way the staff cared for Mum and knew her. As a family, we also felt cared for and supported in so many ways, which we will always be grateful for.
Mum has been at St Christophers for over a year, as she is no longer able to care for herself. The care she receives is excellent. Knowing she is safe and well cared for by the lovely staff, who go above and beyond, in such a beautiful setting, is so reassuring.
St Christopher's has been great for my mum, who is suffering from dementia. Her quality of life has improved tremendously alongside her mental and physical well-being. All aspects of her care have been of the highest quality, from the standard of accommodation and the calibre of the staff to the extensive activities to keep the residents engaged and entertained. The food is of restaurant quality, and each day's menu is interesting and varied. I have full access to visit Mum at any time (within reason), and I am able to take Mum out for trips at will. The care, tenderness, and professionalism that the staff show is very reassuring to me, and I have complete confidence that Mum is in precisely the right place.
Mum became a resident of St Christophers care home just under a year ago when her dementia meant she could no longer live on her own. From her first day there, I have had absolutely no doubts that she's in the best place to help with her increasing needs. All the staff, from cleaners to management, treat all the residents with such care and respect. The home is always spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and has a proper homely feel about it. It is set in beautiful grounds, and Mum loves to walk around regularly with one of the lovely carers. There is something to do every day and plenty of day trips for the residents. Regular pampering sessions, a visiting hairdresser and a choice of tasty meals keep everyone looking good! Relatives are kept up to date on what's going on in the home by e-mail and monthly Zoom meetings. The relief of knowing Mum is now being so well cared for is huge. I'm so pleased I chose St Christophers to care for her.
After an illness and bereavement, my mum was very run down and struggling to cope on her own at home. Her confidence had taken a real knock. She moved into St Christopher's and has just come back home after six weeks, where she had exceptional care and, importantly, staff who really took an interest in getting her confidence and independence back. The staff are wonderful and run lots of activities and trips out. The grounds are so beautiful, and as soon as she was able, my mum was taking a walk every day. Great service, which gave her the break she needed, and I anticipate her still popping in every now and then to join in some activities, which will help to keep her social and encourage her to find other activities to join in. The knowledge for her now that there is somewhere she can go for a short stay if things get a bit much is really reassuring for her. Thank you. I feel I have my mum back.
I find the staff, who have been employed for many years, extremely thoughtful and caring, both to the needs of my mother with dementia and myself as we navigate this dreadful illness. The food is excellent, all homemade, and they accommodate my mother's wishes and requirements excellently. There are always activities on, of a broad variety, should my mother wish to participate indeed, they have encouraged my mother to take part, much to my surprise and increasing the quality of her life and happiness. The home is set in beautiful surroundings and incredibly well maintained, which does add to the pleasure of both visiting and for my mother.
Mum has been at St Christopher's for nearly 2 years, she is so well looked after and cared for that she is more than happy to call it home. The staff are so very caring and remain extremely professional at all times. Communication is constantly forthcoming, updates are regular. All in all a wonderful care home.
My mother has been in the care of St Christopher's for nearly 8-months. In that time, she has put on weight, and in general, does very well. I feel that having my mother in their care has probably kept her going through the pandemic. St Christopher's has coped admirably, and there is much to commend them for.
St Christopher's is a wonderful place. It is always hard when your mother needs help that you can't provide. The standard of care at St Christopher's is first class; very professionally done, but as importantly, in a loving way. Any resident is more than just a resident. My mum is very happy there, and that is down to the amazing staff at St Christopher's.
Our mother moved into St Christopher's in early December, as living independently with dementia was becoming increasingly difficult. My sister's mother-in-law lived here for two years and blossomed with the excellent care and support received. During this difficult time, it has been hard for my siblings and me to step back from caring, but all the staff have been so supportive, friendly and always there not just for Mum, but all of us. We have been kept updated and informed about all aspects of her care. St Christopher's is a beautiful 'home from home' with so many lovely features. Regular Zoom meetings notify us of any information, which is reassuring and relative's suggestions are encouraged and supported. Set in beautiful woodlands, wildlife cameras have captured some wonderful animals and these are shared with residents and relatives. Such peace of mind knowing Mum is safe and being care for by such wonderful people. "Let us take care of your Mum, so you can go back to being her daughter". Woods said to me that meant so much. Thank you.
My mother entered St Christopher's shortly before the Covid crisis, which was a blessing. Despite the difficult circumstances over the past year, St Christopher's have facilitated visits in a Covid safe manner and have kept the care home free of Covid all this time. My mother has been able to take her dog with her, and despite some challenges, the staff at St Christopher's have coped uncomplainingly. The dog is also appreciated by the other residents. The manager of the Ascot Residential homes has held Zoom sessions with relatives on a weekly/two weekly basis, keeping us informed and updated on everything they are doing, what visiting facilities are available - both physical and technological. These updates have been brilliant in appraising relatives and reinforcing the community that we are part of.
