View Full Details of Boulters Lock Residential HomeMy father has been at Boulters Lock Residential Home for 13 months now and although his Alzheimer's' has worsened in that time the excellent support and care he has received has bought out the best possible dad, given his condition. Boulters Lock is a happy place with that homely feeling where nothing feels like too much trouble for both residents and visitors alike. The staff are very engaging with a sense of fun whilst maintaining a high level of professionalism. There are lots of activities to suit all residents in which the staff participate enthusiastically. In my experience in addition to the high quality of care, communication is excellent, I am extremely happy that we chose the Boulters family for dad.
Boulters Lock care home really try their hardest. The atmosphere is always extremely friendly and there is always a nice homely feel. Renovations are going on at the moment which are making things tricky space wise but it will lead to much better facilities. The food always looks good with fresh ingredients. The staff are always helpful and caring. I feel safe trusting my mother in their hands.
Mum is 98 years old this month and has been in the home for sixteen months. She is very frail and has speech aphasia and difficulty swallowing, so it is very gratifying to see that she is on good form and the staff involve her in all the activities, including 'mocktail' hour! The home atmosphere is, I can only describe as, 'jolly', busy and upbeat. I enjoy seeing the regular staff who, one feels, 'belong' to the home and will flexibly take on any role needed and who create a good atmosphere. The home is clean, bright and not too big.
My mother has been in the home for approximately 18 months, and we have consistently had excellent service, and she has been very happy. I find the staff extremely helpful professional and well-trained, and my mother is well-looked after.
First class service, never an issue with the staff, nothing is too small or too big for them, they share a level of passion and commitment and loyalty and genuine feeling that I have not witnessed before, they deserve to succeed, and they are succeeding which is great news for everybody.
There is a very happy atmosphere at the home. The staff are friendly and helpful. There are lots of activities for the residents and staff obviously put a lot of planning into how best to stimulate the residents, both physically and mentally. Communication between the home and family members is also excellent.
Mum was looked after by the home for respite care. Mum was in a lot of pain but the staff showed great compassion and helped to bring a little joy back into her life. A trip to Boulters Lock was the highlight and the pictures the staff took that day are treasured by us. The staff are fantastic and everyone from the chef to the carers show great dedication and compassion in their daily work. Thank you to everyone.
I expect no care home is perfect but Boulters Lock Residential Home gets pretty close to it. My mother is in her late 90s and the care and attention she receives is so lovely. The staff (carers, kitchen staff and activity staff) show affection to all of the residents. I often notice a hand squeeze to a resident as they pass by. I, personally, am always greeted by name and a smile.
Boulters Lock Residential Home is an amazing care home. The staff are truly supportive, kind, caring and nurturing. They work hard and yet, nothing is too much trouble for them as they work together as a very able and multi-skilled team, including the kitchen. They strive to enable each resident to join in their many activities to enhance their life, whilst respecting individuals' own desires. My mum is very happy there and doesn't want to be anywhere else and her health and quality of life have risen since she's been there.
Dad has been looked after so well since he moved in. Staff are so caring and kind, taking their time to listen. He says the food is good and lots of choices. He has a lovely room with views of the planes and birds which he loves to watch. Asa family, we are so happy to know he is well cared for. Thank you!
The reason I am in the residential home because I have history of mental illness but I am a lot better than I have been. I find my care has been 100% better since people have looked after me. I tired looking after my own health but I let my medication slip so needed support. Overall I appreciate the care I receive.
I visited an old friend, staff was very friendly and could not be more accommodating. The food was amazing. It was lovely to see the bond my friend had with the staff and how settled she was in her environment. I look forward to my next visit.
We are so happy with Boulters Lock. It was very difficult for us to decide to find a home for Mum whose Alzheimer's was getting difficult for us not eating properly and going to bed during the day she was so confused. While it has taken a long time for her to settle we knew Boulters was the right place such a lovely atmosphere and not everyone has dementia we have had so much support from the carers and the manager. Mum enjoys the activities with the wonderful activities coordinator, and many lovely staff looking after her I could mention them all but it would take me too long it has given us peace of mind thank you, everybody!
Lovely care home, with lovely staff, a lovely area, it’s fantastic that they hold events for the residents which keeps them entertained. Residents always look happy and clean, the food always smells lovely, such a nice atmosphere, really feels like home.
Really excellent care home. Really feel like you can have peace of mind knowing they are well looked after. Caring and fun staff to bring a smile to everyone’s face! Would recommend this care home to anyone.
My mum was admitted in June after a fall and dementia. She entered not being able to communicate and told she'd never walk again. Roll forward to August, my mum has improved beyond my expectations. She's now able to communicate with small words and walks with aid - solely down the encouragement of the staff. She a new lease of life. My dad joined her 3 months later with complicated and serious health conditions. When I go and visit I'm amazed how happy, content and comfortable they are. I am an only child and it could have been a very lonely experience but, the Boulters Lock Residential Home team have been an extension of my family. No one really wants any relative to have to go into care but, for those that are looking for the first time, don't be scared. Boulter's Lock is a home, the staff really do care and they are here to support you and your relative. As my parents enter this emotional time, they do it together under the roof of family and friends and I'm ever so grateful for that.
We should have done this sooner, much sooner. But as with most things if all is going well you just carry on. So my apologies to Boulters Lock Residential Home for not doing this sooner. Because our father has been so well looked after by everybody at the home he has thrived, he is now engaging with people, he enjoys the daily activities that take place, he enjoys interacting with all the staff and the other residents. He is no longer depressed or anxious. He is back to being a happy chatty dad. He plays games, he sings, he dances (sort of) loves the guinea pigs and dogs that visit. But best of all for our family is the fact that he is so well looked after physically and mentally that we visit him and see the old dad and because of this we ourselves are less anxious and stressed and enjoy going to see him, so this helps our mental state as we know he is being well looked after. So well done to every staff member at Boulters Lock care home, keep up the good work. Should be a 10 star rating.
On my first visit, I was thrilled at how welcoming I was made and how much happier my brother was. Thank you so much for looking after him so well and I know he is in good hands and look forward to my next visit.
Mum has been a resident since August. She has settled in well and has commented that the staff are friendly and the food is very good. A few teething issues with missing clothes, but these appear to have been resolved.
My mother was transferred here from hospital having had a fall. The staff have been fantastic and all the equipment she needed to keep her comfortable has been requested, delivered and in use. Very good communication to reassure the family.
