View Full Details of Murdoch House Care HomeThe care home is well run nothing is too much trouble. Management are easily accessed and promptly answer any queries. My mum is much happier than I could have hoped for. I cannot imagine her being anywhere else.
Since arriving in February Mum is so much happier as she no longer has to worry about being able to look after herself which was becoming increasingly difficult. She, as we are really appreciative of the way she is looked after and cared for. Mum has never been very outgoing and finds it difficult to mix but she is enjoying the company of the staff and residents once she has got to know them, something she was missing living on her own.
Excellent care and well looked after.
I came here a mess! I've been here for a year now and I am coming to terms with it. I recently got a power chair which has given me a lot more freedom. The staff are fair and understanding. I tend to be erratic sometimes and they are understanding. My son and daughter say I am safe here. I would still like a bit more independence but guess it's not to be.
My wife and I were both born in 1930 and married in 1954. In early 2019 we came to Murdoch House for an interview and afterwards, my wife said to me "I could live here" which was good enough for me. We came here March 2019, selling our house, and unfortunately, my wife passed away 29th of May 2023. The manager and staff have been very kind, understanding and supportive in the last horrible year for which I thank them very much.
My mother resides at Murdoch House. It's a very clean and happy home. Staff are very polite and take time with my mother, she can be challenging at times. They always treat her calmly and kindly. The food is lovely, I often see the lunches being put out and they look delicious. My mother loves the food. There are afternoon games, morning quizzes etc. Plus they take time to take her for a walk, she loves that. Her medicines are delivered to her throughout the day on time. The doctor calls for any health issues on a weekly basis, they have sometimes called the doctor in and they will always see her. The manager is always on hand, very kind and helpful. I would recommend this home to anyone.
After a couple of hospital stays we decided our mother would be safer in a home. The staff at Murdoch House made it possible for her to move in very quickly and everyone has been so caring and friendly. Mum misses her home but she is so happy in Murdoch House, it has made life easier for the whole family.
Well looked after. Enjoy going on the walks. Occasionally do the quizzes. The food is ok. The staff are always helpful if I need anything.
Excellent very good.
This review is never going to be in your favour as I never wanted to leave home in the first place. Having been overruled by my wife in that decision, I have to concede that I found the service and facilities entirely adequate. I did feel that entertainment was not their strong point. Having got to know the drill and the personnel, I would be quite happy to come again.
Very attentive and helpful staff. Mum was very well looked after and enjoyed her stay. The manager is very helpful with any questions and gave me piece of mind that Mum was ok.
As this is a relatively small care home offering accommodation at a comparatively low cost, obviously there are limitations in terms of what is provided in comparison with others viewed prior to making the decision to place our mother here. The team who care for the residents of Murdoch House is, nevertheless, quite outstanding. The attention given to residents' needs, the most important prerequisite when considering our mother's placement, is a massive strength. I simply cannot sing the praises of the carers who ensure my mother is happy as she could possibly be given her needs highly enough. It is a truly caring environment.
The staff are very kind and caring. Every time I visit my friend the staff are always helpful and caring. There is a nice atmosphere in the care home. The care home manager certainly does her best to care for her residents and ensures the standard she sets is maintained by her staff. Not an easy job for anyone.
Every effort is always made to ensure that my mother-in-law is well taken care of. The excellent staff made her 99th birthday an extremely happy day for her. They included as many residents as possible. If ever there is anything to report they do so as soon as possible which means I have total confidence in Murdoch House Care Home for my mother-in-law.
My sister and I are very happy with our mum being in Murdoch House. It takes the strain away from us to know that she is being fed well, given the right medication at the correct time, and has people to chat with and do activities with. She is taken into town which is great and they have little extra touches over and above what is necessary. She is listened to and kept safe. Thank you.
Murdoch House is a very special place. It is home to my mother and my father-in-law. The staff are wonderful and show kindness and consideration for their needs. My mother had been a resident for about six months, then my father-in-law became unwell, I had no hesitation in finding him a place there too, and now they are neighbours. It's so lovely, and they both are very happy there. Thank you Murdoch House.
I spent two weeks in respite care while my wife was away. My stay was excellent. The staff were wonderful, with a special mention for one member of staff, in particular.
It is wonderful to see my mum engaged in activities - and looking so well. Her mental health has improved dramatically and she now has a social life!
Thoroughly enjoyable.
I have been in care for 2 weeks. During this time the carers have been caring and helpful. My room is light and comfortable, in my case the ensuite is a blessing. COVID has restricted movement and interaction, but the staff have remained attentive and always cheerful even when tired.
