View Full Details of Alde HouseI have such peace of mind that my Mum is cared for in such a kind, professional and loving environment. From the home-cooked meals and regular entertainment to the meticulous medical services, I feel reassured that all my Mum's needs are met. I love the homely living room feel and the caters are wonderful.
My Mum has been a resident at Alde House for over three years. During this time we have witnessed all staff consistently care for and support our Mum who has dementia. Alde House really does feel like home for Mum, which gives us comfort knowing how well she is looked after. We are able to visit at any time, communication is excellent, and all her medical needs are addressed promptly.
My aunt is very happy in Alde House and likes the staff. The manager keeps me well informed of any developments very promptly with all the information I need so I do not have to ask questions. Every member of staff that I have interacted with has been friendly and pleasant. I feel that my aunt gets well looked after and receives the care she needs. I know my aunt participates in many of the activities which is great.
My sister has been a resident for a number of years and the staff have worked hard and sensitively to adapt to her changing needs. The manager consults with the family whenever an issue arises and is always available to discuss concerns. The atmosphere in the home is warm and welcoming. The range of activities offered to residents continues to grow and family members are encouraged to attend coffee mornings and other special events. I feel that my sister is well cared for and seen as an individual with her own personality, including some challenging behaviour in the past. She is treated professionally and with compassion and our whole family is reassured that she is safe and sound in Alde House.
Overall, it is a good quality care home. Good manager and supportive staff. Both parents seem pretty happy there. Generally a good experience with the care team. There are always a few niggles and issues but I do feel I have been treated by the management team with care and understanding. Mum and Dad are well looked after and that’s all I care about.
My friend has been at Alde House for about two and a half years. She struggled to settle initially due to extreme anxiety but the home was amazing in spite of her challenging behaviour. She is now content and I know she is well cared for. The staff are welcoming, kind and professional. I am very glad my friend is in this home. A local doctor friend also said it would be the best home for his patients and his father-in-law was here.
My mother has been at Alde House for nine months and whilst she has been there she could not have been treated any better by all the staff who have made her feel very welcome and look after her every need. The food provided is just as she likes it and enjoys trips out and activities with the carers. I would have no hesitation in recommending Alde House to anyone as it is an excellent care home.
My mother-in-law is bedridden and appears content and comfortable in her surroundings. The staff are very friendly and always approachable. The care home is very clean and welcoming. I have no concerns with the care home and would recommend it based on my experience.
We were lucky enough to come across Alde House Penn whilst looking for respite care for our mother. The two weeks turned into seven months in all, until she passed away. The staff were fantastic, the manageress wonderful, the whole experience for us was made easier with their help and caring. The atmosphere and general feel about accommodation provided, not just in the wonderful feel of ‘somebody’s‘ home, is made better by the knowledge that the staff care. We have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone and everyone, unfortunately the spaces are limited due to its homely feel. Fortunately for residents lucky enough to be there we think that is what makes it special. Thank you Alde House and all the staff for making our mother welcome... and us.
Review by the daughter of a resident who passed away in August 2022. Mum's care has been so kind, thoughtful and respectful. She was stubborn, but with understanding, carers managed to get her to agree to almost everything. I personally miss the dialogue with the home. Someone was always available to speak to. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Alde House felt just like home. The lockdown was particularly difficult for both our family and especially for mum. How the staff managed to virtually avoid the covid virus, and keep the residents happy, is quite beyond me. I would like to offer my very sincere thanks to the Manager and all her lovely carers. If all care homes were like Alde House, then residents everywhere would be able to enjoy the twilight of their years.
My mum was a resident at Alde House from March 2020 until August 2022 when she sadly passed away. Mum entered Alde House the weekend that the UK went into its first lockdown aged 93. She was upset at leaving her own home, and the following months of not being able to see mum was very hard for both her and us. The care and affection mum received eased the transition from being in her home on her own to being looked after by an outstanding team. Nothing was too much trouble for the team there. Mum was well-fed, warm, comfortable and safe, and she herself never had anything but good things to say about the people that looked after her. The Alde House team also looked after us, in as much as communication from them on mum's wellbeing was excellent, and we could ring and ask about how she was whenever we wanted to, which was invaluable to us during the restricted visiting during Covid. In short, mum's time at Alde House was filled with excellent care and affection from the team, for which we are so grateful.
Although I'm only able to visit about once a month as I live 2 and a half hours away, I always find Mum well and content. She can chat on the phone regularly. The manager is very caring, experienced and efficient, and the staff, kind and thoughtful. Mum enjoys the company and is healthy despite her inability to walk without pain. She is looking forward to a few more visits from people offering activities, which I'm sure everyone has missed. Thanks for keeping everyone safe.
My mother has been a resident at Alde House for 4 and a half years. She is very happy and full of praise for the care she gets. All the staff show such kindness, professionalism and are welcoming and friendly. It’s obviously been a challenge throughout the Covid restrictions but all my family are most grateful to the home who have done so much to accommodate visiting, whilst keeping all the safeguards in place. The home is kept clean and tidy and the catering is always plentiful and varied. The location is very convenient and the gardens are glorious.
Small, friendly care home. My husband has been a resident for 4-years and has always been clean and well cared for even in the last 18-months when he has been bed-bound. Location is perfect for us to visit and the grounds are very pleasant. We have always found it warm and comfortable for the residents and visitors.
My mother spent her last few months at Alde House. While these were often difficult for her owing to increasing infirmity, all the staff went to extraordinary lengths to make her stay there both as happy, dignified and as comfortable as possible. I would highly recommend Alde House for any family looking for high-quality care for older parents.
My mother has been a resident for seven months. She has a beautiful room overlooking the lovely garden and view. The staff and manager are wonderful, kind, caring and very attentive. My mother is very happy and is eating very well. The food is excellent the family feel very blessed to have found such a lovely care home for our mother.
My mother has been a resident there for about 9 months and I am very pleased with her care.
I have been visiting my uncle in Alde House, Penn for over a year. The staff are always pleasant and handle a difficult job very well. I find this smaller home much more friendly and personal to all the people that live there.
My brother has been well looked after since becoming a resident at the home, he always comments on the good food, staff and cleanliness of the home. This is something that is always noticeable with every visit and we are very grateful that he is lucky to be somewhere where he is so well looked after.
Our mother lived contentedly at Alde House for 6 years until her death in August 2016. It has a very homely feel to it (no hint of an institution) and is beautifully clean, orderly and peaceful. The lounge, with its large windows looking out onto the garden is a particularly lovely and spacious area in which to relax. The recently improved garden is beautiful and perfect for visiting friends and relatives to enjoy with their loved ones, especially since the addition of its wonderful new wooden "arbour" area. The manager could not be more welcoming, friendly, helpful and approachable. The head carer is very kind, calm and knowledgeable. The rest of the staff are lovely too, rather like an extended family. Lunches are delicious and social events are always a real pleasure to attend. It is very reassuring to know that the committed Board of Trustees always has the best interests of the residents at heart. Alde House is a very special place.
