View Full Details of Cheriton Care HomeThe home has greatly improved during the last few weeks, the staff are happy and there is a much happier feel to the home. The food is lovely and there is more entertainment happening. I feel this is all down to the new manager and I cannot thank her enough, well done to her.
My friend, and donor, was taken by the Cheriton Care Home in February 2022 following discharge from hospital. Reablement services and home care were just not working for her and she was, unfortunately, unable to spend any time alone without 24/7 home care which did not prove a feasible option. The Cheriton manager and the owner took on my donor without fuss and were able to get her back on track. They made sure she was well cared for 24/7 and treated her with respect and dignity, which above all else mattered most. All the staff are kind and empathetic. My donor has Parkinson's and dementia and the staff were patient and kind at all times making sure I felt at ease when leaving her there or in-between visits. She has now been discharged following eight months of care.
Availability of a lighter, brighter and larger room, now my aunt is confined to bed, has enhanced her well-being and made life easier for the carers to manage her needs. Unfortunately, the loss of senior staff and carers has put a strain on those remaining who still give their best to those under their care.
My mother has been in Cheriton since September 2015 and she is extremely happy there and we are very happy with the care she receives. Staff go the extra mile to spend time talking with her and are always seeking ways to make her content. Over the last two years, they have done their best to help us keep in contact.
My mother loves where she is, she has dementia. The staff are all lovely, especially the staff that have been there a long time. Food is great and so is the chef. I do not find that the cleaning is good though. At present, the cleaner is on holiday so not much is being done as the job will have to be put on the other staff who are all overworked as it is. They do their best. I find that staffing is a problem as nobody, meaning the owners, will spend any money. If the present manager had left, I would have to move my mother and put her elsewhere!
