My mother in law was able to stay at Culwood House Residential Care Home for her final few weeks of life and I cannot fault how lovingly she was cared for during that time. Thank you to the whole team.
We had a lovely visit and stayed for a delicious lunch in the conservatory. All the staff that we met were very welcoming and helpful. As always, the house and the garden were immaculate. Looking forward to visiting our friend again.
I have lived here for three years and have always found the staff caring and cheerful. It is a comfortable, homely house and is kept clean and supplied with fresh flowers. We have many activities and are asked if we would like anything else.
Culwood House looked after my mum for almost 3 years. All the staff treated mum with kindness and dignity. Sadly mum's health deteriorated due to her condition, but Culwood made the last couple of weeks of mum's life so peaceful and quiet. My sister and I were treated with so much compassion as we spent every day with mum. Aside from being a beautiful, well-run home, the activities offered are second to none. There are trips out to local places, so many musicians visit as well as gentle exercise sessions and plenty to stimulate the mind. The meals are exceptional and all needs are catered for. Culwood House gave my sister and I peace of mind that our dear mum was well looked after and she couldn't have been in a better place. We will miss our mum but will also miss our twice-weekly visits and the welcome received more akin to family than just visitors.
My Father is currently receiving palliative care at Culwood House, having moved there in 2021. I'm always impressed by the level of care given to Dad; The care is personalised and reviewed day by day to ensure he always has what is needed. Emails are always responded to and any requests we (as a family) may have are taken into account. My Father is treated with great respect and is genuinely loved by the staff. Culwood House is an exceptional care home.
Mum was at Culwood House for about 18 months. The whole environment is homely and caring. Whenever I visited, whether prearranged or just popping in, there has always been a hospitable welcome from the staff. Alongside the regular activities, there were trips out to see the bluebells and rhododendrons, Beaconscot, pub lunches, and a canal trip. When Mum became ill, the team was excellent, recognising Mum wasn't herself and arranging for the GP to visit. All the staff was lovely, keeping her close, sometimes she sat in the kitchen with them having coffee and sharing a joke. As Mum's health failed the staff team excelled. They worked with the district nurse and GP ensuring Mum had the care she needed. We visited as a family frequently, always welcome, staying as long as we wanted, meals were provided, and staff always available to update us on how Mum was doing. In the last weeks seeing the various staff interact with Mum with real affection alongside their professionalism was a comfort.
Cullwood House is a lovely home, I couldn't have wished for a nicer place for my Granny. All the staff were so kind and caring and the facilities were excellent. Residents are treated with compassion and dignity, it's just a great place.
I am at ease with my Mother living at Culwood, as I know that she is being cared for in a loving, individual way. She benefits from the activities on offer and is thriving. I would highly recommend it.
I rarely use superlatives but for Culwood these are necessary: they are absolutely brilliant. When we were choosing care homes I was struck by how the word 'we' referred to both the staff and the residents. The sense of being one family is palpable. In the other homes we visited this was not the case. My Mum has just died and in observing the care she received I was struck by the fact that it wasn't simply excellent care it was loving too. There are other things that I could mention but being a loving home away from home sums it up.
Culwood House is a gem of a place. It manages to combine a lovely, calm 'home from home' atmosphere with total commitment and professionalism from every member of staff. My father could not be better cared for. Despite his frailty and Alzheimer's, the staff are unfailingly warm, patient, and compassionate. Even the most minor request or feedback is taken seriously and actioned immediately. He could not be better cared for. My family and I are so reassured and grateful to you all. Thank you.

We all had an enjoyable morning and lots of laughs. It was a pleasure to be part of it.
Today my mum and I visited my nan along with other family members and it was so lovely. Seeing how happy and well she is, thriving within the surroundings and environment is just amazing. We booked the summer house and all enjoyed a yummy lunch together before joining in on their weekly chair exercise class. The lady teaching the class was absolutely brilliant. Keeping all residents and our family members there well entertained with 100% compassion and patience with the residents. It was so lovely to see. We stayed 5 hours with our nan today. Culwood House Care Home has been just the environment for my mother. The house has a lovely feel to it - the kitchen is at the heart of the house - both for the staff and for the residents. I can only say high praise upon the staff - they are part of the family too - they are part of ours in our mutual desire for Mum's wellbeing and we are part of the Culwood family. As my mother's health has deteriorated, the Culwood has been super at accommodating her needs. Under the exacting conditions of Covid over the past twenty-one months, Culwood has managed superbly - and full credit to the management and team to their care and diligence.
I had visited 14 care homes locally before choosing Culwood for my Mother who is living with Alzheimer’s. Culwood really is a home from home rather than an institution. The team feels like a family and are amazing in their care and compassion for the residents. Mum settled very quickly and I have been impressed with the care given to her by the staff. Even after a significant decline in her Alzheimer’s, they have remained committed to giving her the best care possible.
