View Full Details of Little Oaks Residential HomeI looked at a lot of local homes before deciding on Little Oaks and was impressed on first viewing; my mother has just completed her first anniversary and my view hasn't changed. It is relatively small to create a homely feel while being big enough to enable a chef to be employed (many small homes rely on frozen meals). It has a pool of regular staff who are helpful, kind and considerate to create a positive vibe and the home is bright and clean. Many rooms have en suite toilet / wash basin and the home is keen for residents to personalise the room as much as possible with maybe a piece of furniture, hanging pictures etc. There is a separate lounge for dementia residents which I feel is good for all residents (I can't comment on the dementia care). There are some activities organised in the main lounge and facilities such as regular hair dresser, chiropodist (extra cost billed monthly).
My friend suffered a stroke during 2020 and with no family support available came to live at Little Oaks. I immediately liked the home from home feel and friendly and helpful staff. My friend took a while to settle and come to terms with his circumstances. Little by little the staff have encouraged him to become more engaged with the daily activities. The food is very good and as a visitor I have enjoyed staying for lunch too. The core staff team especially the manager are very approachable. In the spring and summer months the residents can potter around the beautiful garden and or sit on the patio areas and enjoy the sunshine. The main residential areas are in the process of an uplift and looking very good. I highly recommend this home.
I feel confident that my mother is safe and receiving appropriate, compassionate care. Staff are always friendly and welcoming towards me. The manager is always available and in touch with my mother's care needs. The home is clean, light and airy. There are sufficient different activities each day. I like that all the food is home-cooked on the premises. There is a choice of menu, and the staff are flexible, within reason, should my mother have a particular food request. My mother is treated with dignity and respect. If the staff have any concerns about her self-care, they encourage her but never force her to do anything contrary to her wishes. I would particularly like to say that I have absolutely no concerns about my mother's care at Little Oaks. I never thought I would be saying that when my mother went into care.
My mother has been a resident at Little Oaks since 4th November last year. My brother, sister and myself are extremely pleased all round with the services Little Oaks provides. The staff are very friendly, helpful and approachable We are very pleased to find this care home at just the time our mother needed it. Most importantly, mum is happy. Thank you to management and the lovely team at Little Oaks. Keep up the good work.
Mum has now been in the home for over a year and her time there has been very friendly and caring. When Mum became a resident she was really poorly and the family did not think she would last very long. As it was the staff and manager made Mum a project and within a few months Mum was moving around with her Zimmer frame, eating well and taking time with the other residents. I cannot thank them enough for what they do for Mum and the way they welcome the family when they visit.
I would just like to thank all members of staff for their care and compassion in looking after my mother, it is not an easy decision to make, but within a few days we knew we had made the right one, with soon joining in and making friends.
What a wonderful place Little Oaks is! Mum was only there for a short time, but the care she received was excellent. The staff are so friendly, caring and respectful and Mum felt immediately at home from the first day. The atmosphere in the home is warm, welcoming and homely. The manager made Mum feel really settled and communication between myself and the staff was excellent. Thank you so much for ensuring a very smooth transition for Mum, as a family we are so grateful that she came to Little Oaks - I cannot recommend it highly enough!
We found the manager and all of her team to be very organised and extremely friendly and caring. My father-in-law was allocated a lovely room in the new dementia wing, which suited his needs very well. He was well looked after, and the carers were happy to do the extra little things we requested regarding his care. It was lovely to have peace of mind when we needed to go on a trip abroad, and I will definitely be using this care home again.
Mum has now had two respite visits to Little Oaks, and on both occasions, we found the home to be highly commended. It is well run by senior staff and friendly, helpful carers. If required, we will use them again.
Having no experience of care homes we turned to Little Oakes when we needed help. From the very beginning, we have been happy with our choice. All the staff have been most helpful and caring, making our journey so much easier. It feels more like a family home rather than a care home, just what we hoped for for Mum. It’s been a difficult time for us all but Little Oakes have constantly made it so much easier for us. A good choice for us all round.
My mum stayed at Little Oaks Residential Home as a respite break, we were a bit apprehensive as she never had stayed in any care home before. But as soon as we contacted the manager she understood all our concerns and put all our worries to rest, as soon as Mum arrived some of the staff came to say hi and introduced themselves, it made her feel very welcome. She was very well looked after in all areas and all her needs were met efficiently. A big thank you to all the staff for making her stay such a good experience.
Mum had a series of falls over the last year and was taken into hospital at the end of July with a lung infection. During her stay in hospital she lost a lot of weight and suffered two more falls. When I visited Little Oaks, the staff were very welcoming, and the atmosphere very happy. As soon as I saw the room, I knew that Mum would feel at home there. The home manager visited Mum in hospital on the Bank Holiday Monday, reassuring her and making her laugh. Mum was due to be discharged on the Wednesday and the staff pulled out all the stops to get her room ready for her. The home manager even went to the trouble of going out to buy new curtains that would match Mum's bedspread! Mum has settled very happily and put back her weight with the good home cooking! The staff are very patient, caring and cheerful, and take great care of her. I feel she is very safe there. Thank you Little Oaks.
Little Oaks Residential Care Home in High Wycombe gave my mum outstanding and compassionate care during her stay their (January 2022 to April 2023). Mum was really well looked after and treated with dignity and respect. I cannot thank the staff enough for everything they did for mum.
Mum is very happy and contented here and well looked after, with all her needs taken care of efficiently but with thought. It is her home and she is happy. The staff are caring and take the time to interact with mum, and willing to wave to her and say hello whenever they pass by her room which she loves. She enjoys the food here and the cooking is good. She is supervised when her medication is given. The manager is visible and approachable, a lovely person who knows her job and does it thoughtfully, efficiently and with care, and all the staff appear happy and are always friendly, caring and good-natured. The home has a lovely calm atmosphere.
Having taken the difficult decision to move my mother-in-law into a care home, we were determined to find somewhere that would look after her and accommodate her particular needs to the same level we gave her at home. We love the home-from-home ethos of Little Oaks and the manager clearly cares deeply about the residents. The staff are all friendly and helpful and there is a genuinely welcoming atmosphere and homely feel to the place. The food is also excellent, just like you'd cook at home. We are very impressed with the level of care and attention to detail that she receives. There is a real bond developing between her and the staff and she is very happy there.
My mum has not been in Little Oaks very long, she was taken into hospital by ambulance after a fall, having been there for several days Mum was declared fit for discharge. In the opinion of the family and Mum herself, home was not safe enough for her to return to and the heating was not working. We needed to find a care home that could provide respite care immediately. Of the four homes contacted, Little Oaks responded straight away and were able to provide her with a comfortable room in a homely environment. All the staff are caring and kind and are getting to know Mum and are helping her to regain her confidence and mobility.
My mum has been in Little Oaks for a few years, but the last year has been particularly difficult with a series of medical issues culminating in 3 weeks in hospital which left her in a poor way. Little Oaks Manager and staff have been tirelessly patient and kind in getting her back on her feet, in better health and feeling much more positive. There is a very good homely atmosphere - staff really know residents, cleanliness is excellent and organisation is good. The home did have a change of management but this has now settled down and there has been a thorough programme of building improvements and redecoration.
My mother has been in Little Oaks Care Home for the past year. She is well looked after, always looking presentable. The rooms are kept clean and tidy. The care home is always warm. The staff are very helpful and visitors are always welcome. The food is nutritious and well-presented and with plenty of choices. There is much entertainment being organised for the residents now Covid restrictions have been lifted.
Little Oaks Residential Home provided a very welcoming environment for my mother's visit for a respite break. The ethos of providing a home-from-home experience was well demonstrated by the caring staff who focused on my mother's individual needs. All her visitors were also appreciative of the welcome they received, which all helped to provide a positive experience for their visit. The spacious room enabled those visits to take place in a quiet environment. My mother was able to relax in the safe caring setting which enabled the stay to be a positive experience.
The manager helped me resolve issues with my mother promptly and practically. Well-managed team. Open and communicative. Home facilities are very good, and newly decorated rooms. Mum is more social in the lounge area. Kind and friendly staff.
