View Full Details of The Red House Nursing HomeVery caring staff. Relaxed atmosphere.
A satisfactory old home renewed to a good standard for use as care home. Mixed occupancy with emphasis on dementia and care for elderly.
The staff are wonderful. They are helpful and very caring with the residents. They were great with mums end of life care. The rooms could do with a bit of updating. The food is good. I would recommend The Red House Nursing Home to anyone making these difficult choices
My Dad moved into Red House on 15th April 2022 having spent a month or so in hospital. The decision that he was not well enough to go home was a hard one to make, but the staff at Red House were just beyond fantastic. He was made to feel so welcome, he settled almost immediately and most importantly felt safe and cared for. Having spent many hours visiting my father there, I sat, watched and listened to the staff doing their work and it made me feel very humble, not only the care to my dad, but to the other residents that I grew to know. I absolutely cannot recommend this home more, it is not flashy and posh like some, don't let that influence you, the care they provide is second to none! My dad died last week, it is of great comfort that he passed away surrounded by lovely people. Thank you.
My husband was initially in a care home that looked very much like a hotel and suited my eye but he certainly didn’t get the level of care he required. On being moved to The Red House, I was initially sad because it looked as I had always imagined a nursing home to be. How wrong was I. The level of care and kindness has been well above all expectations and the staff go out of their way to help. My husband had advanced dementia and often displayed challenging behaviour but this was dealt with so well he began to calm down. He received the level of care he needed which was the most important aspect. I was always made to feel very welcome and treated with kindness and consideration. Being a privately owned home makes so much difference with regular visits from the owner who, like all the staff, is very approachable. It is like an extended family and I can highly recommend it.
My Mother has been in the Red House for around 3 years now. Mum has had dementia for about 8 years and it was very upsetting to have to take the action of placing mum in care.. The Red House have helped me in so many ways from the very start right up to today and truly understand dementia and not only the needs of my mother but also my whole family. THANK YOU ALL.
A functional care home with some very dedicated caring staff. Many activities are put on and residents are generally well looked after. The house is clean and refreshments are served regularly. My main concern is the extended period of time where residents are left alone (sometimes totally unsupervised) in front of the TV with little interaction from staff. I have on several occasions had to rush to the other end of the care home, or even go up the stairs to find someone to help what could be a crisis in waiting. Nearly all of the staff are friendly and helpful, however I've seen occasions where they are overly brusque with patients that are suffering from severe dementia. As frustrating as it can be trying to help residents with lowered mental capacity, I expect a bit more time and consideration. Good: Some really caring staff Regular refreshments Clean and tidy atmosphere Activities for residents and families Bad: Some not so caring staff Poor staff management Long periods of TV time Generally okay and those that urgently need to go into care will be looked after. However I currently would not place a member of my own family into the Red House without an introduction of a matron or at minimum; a new staff rota system. I believe residents would be safer and have more stimulation if this were the case because right now the lack of staff coordination and a matron is very evident. I have seen several members of staff on break at once, leaving one person watching a dozen frail people. When that staff member is called away, residents can be alone and concerning things can happen quickly with no one on hand to assist. For reference, I am visiting a friend who has no choice with regard to the choice of care home and have no financial dealings with the care.
I am happy with the excellent service provided by the Red House Nursing Home in Maids Moreton, near Buckingham. I find the staff genuinely caring and loving, to me and to my husband. I like the 'can-do' attitude and the sense that we are part of a community.
