View Full Details of Swarthmore Residential Care HomeMy mother spent the last five years of her life in this home, she was 99 when she died. She was suffering from the dementia throughout her time there and could be quite feisty at times. However, Mum was well behaved and lot of the time too. She was treated well and sympathetically throughout her time at the home and with plenty of patience. Staff coped with her well when she was difficult and uncooperative which happened more often in the last couple of years.
My Dad has been at Swarthmore Residential Care Home since March 2024, His care has been tremendous. Firstly he had a complete review of medication and health check which resulted in ensuring some unseen issues were controlled. Regular access to the doctor on a weekly basis is great. But it is the care from the team and all the staff at Swarthmore that has made the real difference for my Dad. Care and attention, numerous activities and trips have all helped his dementia and purpose in life and he has grown and changed. He is happy, safe and very content. Wonderful care by a wonderful team. Thank you
My dad has been at Swarthmore Residential Care Home since March this year and I can honestly say it's been transformative for him! The kindness and loving care that he receives from all of the staff, along with great food and a fun filled activity roster, particularly the table tennis and dancing, have brought back the smile on his face. I can only thank you all at Swarthmore Residential Care Home for this.
Caring staff, they keep residents busy and happy. Plenty of activities and trips out. Good with health issues. Staff keep family informed of all health issues, accidents etc. Families can visit anytime.
My mum was in Swarthmore for nearly 2 years. It was very homely and the staff was very genuine - they really cared about the residents. The food was excellent and the activities extremely good with regular visits out for those with some mobility. We knew she was in good hands which gave us peace of mind at all times. Not easy to move a loved one to a home but would highly recommend Swarthmore.
My Mum was resident for exactly 3 years. She was well cared for by kind staff. She enjoyed the artistic activities and some of the trips out. The visit of the alpacas was a highlight. The staff were very good at noticing subtle changes and would keep relatives informed. Medical issues were dealt with promptly. I have no hesitation in recommending Swarthmore as a safe and caring environment.
Mum moved into Swarthmore, a care home in the heart of Gerrards Cross a few hundred metres from her house. Swarthmore is an extraordinary place, or rather the people who work there are extraordinary. They are a United Nations of Kindness. They looked after Mum with huge respect and dignity. She thrived there and I suspect without their love, she wouldn't have held on for quite so long. We are eternally grateful to them.
My mother lived in Swarthmore Residential Care Home for eight years. The staff adapted their care for her as her needs changed and became like family for her and for me. I found the team easy to approach with questions and always felt welcome in the home and well-supported. My mother received excellent care, both physically and for her personal welfare. We are very thankful for them.
Husband died in the home in January after seven months there. He declined but was very well looked after right to the end. Staff kept in touch with me and liaised with our son who is a GP. Staff had been helpful and kind to him throughout all his time there calling the doctor when needed etc.
Swarthmore Residential Care Home provided care, including end-of-life care, to my father. The staff were always kind and professional and treated him with the respect that one would hope. The staff appeared to do all they could to make him happy and comfortable. The food was decent and they made an effort to put on activities to provide stimulation for those who wanted it. They were good at communicating and visiting was never an issue. It is slightly more personal than some homes and the fact that some of the staff remembered looking after his mother, some twenty-five years ago, shows that they enjoy working there which is always a good sign!
I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at Swarthmore Residential Care Home. The management is so good at communicating with residents and the families of residents. The care staff have done everything they can to make my mother feel happy and comfortable in her new environment (especially over the Christmas period). My mother often praises the laundry service team, who are always on hand. I would like to thank every member of staff in Swarthmore for everything they have done for my mum.
On arrival at Swarthmore by ambulance after a major operation, I was welcomed by very friendly staff, shown to my room and my belongings put away for me. During my three-week stay, I have received professional and friendly care at all times. I cannot praise the food highly enough, excellently cooked, very varied and always a choice. The room I had was very comfortable, well-furnished and spotlessly clean. The laundry service was excellent. Help was readily available in getting to bed and up in the morning.
Dad had respite care at Swarthmore following a hospital stay. Staff were friendly and welcoming, reassuring him when he was confused and always kept me up to date with information. Dad enjoyed the company of the staff and said they always had time for him and had a good laugh together. He loved the garden, said the food was excellent and that his bed was comfortable. He liked the home so much he has decided that he will move there permanently if he needs to go into a care home. What better compliment is there?
Following a fall that required hospital treatment, my mother needed 3 weeks of respite care at Swarthmore to help her recover sufficiently before returning home. The care at Swarthmore was excellent. All the staff were kind and understanding, always willing to stop whatever they were doing for a chat, and were adaptable to my mother's strict vegetarian diet. We were able to just turn up at reception at any time for a visit which was greatly appreciated by the family.
We were looking for respite care for my wife’s father just for 3 weeks. Being his first experience in this we were careful in our choice of homes. Swarthmore was welcoming from the start and made him feel comfortable. All the staff were courteous and professional. He enjoyed the catering provided and particularly the garden view. Any assistance he required he was given, nothing too much trouble.
My step-father spent just over four years at Swarthmore, and I can’t thank them enough for all their support to him, my mother and me. They are professional and caring, and my step-father enjoyed their company, as he did not venture out much from his room, but he knew that there was always help at hand. Covid was a difficult time for all, but Swarthmore dealt with this amazingly. My heart was always content as he referred to Swarthmore as his home and was glad to get back to his lovely room. His needs change as time goes on, and towards his latter days, these were supported with ultimate care. I recommend Swarthmore highly, and if you have need of them, you will be looked after well and be part of their family.
My grandmother recently had a fall which resulted in her needing respite care while she recovered - an idea she was not fond of! However, from the moment we arrived, she was greeted with such kindness and care that she was instantly put at ease. The staff and management are so kind and attentive to both residents and families. You could see while walking around the home how happy the residents were and how well they were cared for. My grandmother was encouraged to come out of her room to enjoy her meals in the dining room and join in with the carefully planned daily activities. She thoroughly enjoyed her time there and quickly made friends that she enjoyed her meals. The home keeps a high level of cleanliness and has such a homely feel. We highly recommend Swarthmore and wouldn't hesitate to contact them if needed in future.
My mother was a resident of Swarthmore for twelve years and never received anything other than exemplary care. Long after she was able to recognise me she would always smile when her carers came into her room and I will always be grateful for how she was looked after for over a decade.
Welcoming, conscientious and friendly. Lovely spacious grounds, not restrictive. Look forward to going again.
Mum became a Swarthmore Residential Care Home in March 2019, aged 95, and in a frail, confused condition following some four weeks in the hospital. On arrival, we were immediately reassured by the welcome and the caring attention she was given. We were able to visit whenever we wished and soon got to know the staff and residents, as well as the house and the beautiful gardens. Mum's strength and confidence rapidly grew as she was lovingly cared for and entertained with a full programme of events every day of the week. Mum enjoyed the meals and thrived on the company of staff and fellow residents, particularly when visits were restricted during Covid. Mum spent the last three years of her life at Swarthmore, and we are grateful for the care and companionship she received. We have no hesitation in recommending this care home.
