View Full Details of The Chestnuts Care HomeI recently visited my mum at The Chestnuts in Aylesbury and couldn't be more impressed by the professionalism of the staff and management and the care and attention with which my mum is being looked after. It was instantly evident that time had been taken to get to know Mum, learn more about her habits and the intricacies of her personality to enable the staff to cater for her needs. Also great to have a ground-level room with an en-suite which was clean and functional. Thank you to all the staff and management for truly caring.
The care my mother received from staff was second to none and in her final hours, they were so respectful, kind and caring.
As hard as it is having my sole remaining parent in a home, there is an immense feeling that she could not be in better hands. All the staff work tirelessly to make the residents stay warm and cosy. Safety and security is also taken very seriously at the home, giving me the reassurance that my mother is as good as she can be.
Thanks to all at The Chestnuts Care Home, amazing care of Mum, couldn’t have done more for her. She was very happy with you all and felt so nice to know she was cared for so well. Am in awe of the job you all do with professionalism and empathy whilst caring for the elderly, and Mum also, who was not always easy. Again, thank you.
My dad had a nice comfortable room, I was encouraged to bring in photos and items that would make it more homely for him. The staff were always lovely and kept me informed at all times. They also wanted to know about Dad's background so they were able to interact with him. There were always lots of activities on offer. I also found them to be very supportive of me and helped me through his dementia, which I am extremely grateful for. The atmosphere always seemed relaxed, calming and, most importantly, welcoming.
My husband has been in here for a long time and is well looked after. I am happy with his care and well-being. The staff work very hard to keep all the residents happy and content which is good.
Everyone is so kind and friendly and can't do enough for you. My mum would not be alive if it wasn't for all the care she has from you all. Five years in October. Thank you.
Over the last five years, we have seen a decline in the standard of care and cleanliness of the home. The interaction between staff to clients is very, very limited. The overall decor inside is in need of refurbishment, i.e. peeling paint and furniture replacement. The individual room would benefit from more housekeeping, i.e. something as simple as emptying the bins, the one comfortable chair provided has never been cleaned and never changed to our knowledge.
My experience is positive. I find the staff approachable and helpful. The weekly diary of games etc is good.
Being told that my lovely Mum needed 24-hour professional care was very difficult to accept at first. I was absolutely dreading her going into long-term care, however, she has thrived since going into the Chestnuts in July this year. The permanent staff are kind, caring and they really cannot do enough for her. Her clothing, room and the social areas are always kept tidy and clean. Mum is very happy in herself and enjoys having company all day. I really cannot thank them enough!
Having to put my mother into care was the hardest thing I'd ever had to do in my life, but The Chestnuts in Aylesbury is absolutely fabulous. The staff are amazing so caring and helpful. The carers are so wonderful with my mother, she always looks so nice and clean and never looks unkempt and she loves them all. Her room, oh my goodness, is so clean, tidy and also smells clean. The bedding, towels and her clothes are so fresh and clean. Thank you so very much for everything and all the good work.
Although my mother-in-law was only at The Chestnuts for the last three months of her life, our experience was a very positive one. The care she received was excellent and they attended to her medical requirements with the utmost efficiency. She was treated with dignity and respect by all the staff but also with warmth and empathy. The room was extremely comfortable and the food plentiful. Despite their heavy workload, they continued to apply her make-up when she was no longer able to because they knew how important her appearance was to her. It is this amazing attention to the individual which makes The Chestnuts such a wonderful place. We can't praise the whole team enough for both their care of my mother-in-law and their warmth towards us.
My grandad is currently a resident at The Chestnuts and the toddler music group run weekly within the home has been very beneficial to both my grandad, myself and my children. It has allowed my children to participate in games, activities and music with their great-grandfather, something I never thought would be possible now his dementia is progressing. The staff are brilliant at facilitating the music session and are constantly running around after residents, children and parents, to make sure everyone is happy and enjoying the session. The smile on both residents' and children's faces alike, speaks volumes.
My mother was in the respite care unit for two weeks. The unit is bright, clean, cheerful and newly modernised, with lovely, individual en-suite rooms. The care staff were all lovely, as was the respite care unit manager. If my mum could live in a unit as good as this one, I would be reassured that she would be ok there. Unfortunately, my mum's behaviour/condition makes her unsuitable for this care home, which is a shame.
My mother in law resided at The Chestnuts for four and half years before moving into a nursing home this month. During her stay, she was treated with the utmost respect and dignity and we cannot thank the staff at The Chestnuts enough. They have always been so welcoming, friendly and treated my mother in law and ourselves with such professionalism. We were always updated, either during our visits or by phone, about my mother in law and we were more than confident that she was receiving the highest care and support. The facilities, activities and the overall standard of The Chestnuts is exceptionally high and I cannot praise the staff enough for what can be a very demanding and at times stressful job. The care home was extremely welcoming, a home from home feel and was always immaculate. It was sad to see my mother in law leave, but her needs became more complex so this was a necessary move. Well done to all the staff, you are doing an amazing job and we thank you for it.
The treatment and care of my aunt was second to none. She was quite happy to reside at The Chestnuts and was appreciative of the staff. Whenever my wife and I visited, we found the carers very good and kind. We were always greeted by our Christian names and offered refreshments. My aunt was always very clean and well dressed by the carers and she enjoyed chatting and having a giggle with them. When she was at the end of her life, the carers had a tape playing in her room of lovely hymns, which she would have appreciated being a life-long Christian. They also sat and read the Bible to her which was so very kind of them. My wife and I cannot praise her care too much. Many thanks to all the staff.
Staff at The Chestnuts (Oak) are very caring and took care of my Great-Aunt very well. My Aunt would always say how great they were at taking care of her. On my visits I was always greeted warmly and offered tea/coffee etc. Staff would update me on Auntie since my last visit so that I knew when she was having her hair done or if the optician would be in. The staff would often mention that my Aunt had told them about her childhood and also that she laughed with them when they would get her up.
Very caring home. The staff could not be more loving. People on reception always knew my name and were so pleasant. The activities were excellent. Would have no problem in going into a home like this.
Mum enjoyed her stay of respite care. Things that particularly impressed her included: the quality of the food, the kindness shown to her by the staff, the lovely clean rooms and the help she received with day to day things. Sharing her time with others stimulated her. The comfort of her room and the view from her window enabled her to watch people and feel a part of the world. Mum hopes to become a permanent resident. Her daughter lives nearby. Thank you for the support desperately needed at this time.
