My husband was diagnosed in 2014 with dementia and in 2020 we decided that respite care was needed. Park House was recommended to us by another resident's family and from day one we knew we had chosen the right place. We were so kindly received by all staff. Everyone was so caring and understanding of both my husband's needs and our own. In mid 2022 my husband was given a permanent place. Such a decision is extremely difficult, but our minds were totally put at ease due to the genuinely approachable attitudes of everyone who comes into contact with him. The staff make every effort to broaden the interests and activities of residents. He is treated with dignity, patience and respect by each member of the team, as they make an effort to find resident's interests and encourage involvement in both indoor and outdoor events. We are made aware of any issues that may arise - we have no doubt at all that he is in safe and capable hands. We would like to say thank you to every single carer.
It came as a shock my mother's diagnosis of dementia, at the age of 93. We discussed care and agreed that a care home was the safest option for Mum as my father was struggling to cope. I visited a few in the area but was highly recommended Park House and on my visit I felt it was exactly the right place for Mum. Mum moved in in December 2023 and quickly settled, made so much easier for the family by the outstanding care we have witnessed in a safe and welcoming environment. The care staff are totally committed to their roles, highly experienced in dementia care and are led by a fantastic management team. All the staff have the residents' health and welfare as priority, this is obvious when we visit and see them encouraging Mum to join them in activities and the prompt communication with us should Mum be feeling under the weather. We as a family feel totally at ease and trust the whole team with Mum's care and future at Park House knowing that she is in safe and very caring hands.
It's almost impossible to describe how amazing every member of staff at Park House has been in caring for our mother. Details matter and every time we visit Park House the environment feels happy and caring. Every member of staff seems totally engaged with the residents' care. Medical situations are dealt with with compassion and appropriate levels of escalation. There seems to be an endless array of entertainment in a calm and relaxed environment. We can't thank the manager and her team enough for their ongoing care of Mum, she is happy, safe and enjoying her twilight years in an idyllic setting.
My husband has been a resident in Park House for over a year. He has advanced dementia and at times his behaviour can be very challenging. The staff are amazing, they treat him with care, compassion and love. Agency staff are not used and so all the residents are known really well by the staff. There is a real family atmosphere. The food is freshly prepared at the home and of good quality. There are regular visits of singers and entertainers and petting animals. I can visit at any time. I recommend Park House and am so pleased my husband is so well cared for.
My dad became a resident at the end of February this year. The staff have been so welcoming and friendly from day one, and have helped Dad to settle in. The difference my sister and I have noticed in him in the last few weeks has been amazing. There is always a member of staff available whatever time we go to see Dad and they all seem very well informed as to how Dad has been progressing. The food is all freshly cooked and every effort has been made to ensure they know what Dad enjoys and therefore will eat. The home is very clean and well looked after. We are very happy knowing that Dad is being so well cared for and are so glad we chose Park House to be his permanent home.
My mother has been a resident at Park House since January 2023. The kindness and care given to her has remained outstanding since her first day there. All consideration is given individually to all the residents to meet their needs, and the high standards are met each and every day. No matter when or what time of day you visit Park House you will always find it to be welcoming, clean and all staff working hard together as a team. As a family, and as a daughter I could not be happier with the residential care my mother is receiving. I have complete peace of mind knowing she is cared and looked after with dignity and kindness. Thank you Park House and all your team. I highly recommend this facility.
Mum was welcomed into Park House at very short notice in August 2022. The transition from home to Park House was made very easy by the ‘can do’ approach of the staff and management team. She quickly settled in and has enjoyed the activities and care provided ever since. As a family, the staff have welcomed us too and invite us to enjoy the special events and occasions that they organise. The care and attention Mum receives is of a very high quality and knowing that Mum is safe and cared for gives us peace of mind and has reduced our stress levels considerably. We would highly recommend Park House for anyone wanting a ‘home from home’ environment. The gardens are beautifully managed and the surrounding environment is one of peace and tranquillity. We consider everyone at Park House to be part of our extended family, it’s a happy place, full of fun and laughter and somewhere to be safe, loved and cared for, and it’s my pleasure to leave this review.
It is always a very difficult decision to place a parent in care. We had looked after my father for 2 and a half years at our home, but as his dementia progressed, it became increasingly obvious we could not provide the 24/7 care that he needed. After looking at a few homes, we decided on Park House as it was quite nearby, so not a problem to get to see him. Also, it is in the countryside and Dad has always been a country lad loving the peace and wildlife. Very quickly it became obvious that we had made the correct decision. He loved the home and was treated with respect and dignity in the almost 4 years that he was a resident. He fitted right in and loved all of the staff who cared for him. All of the staff exceeded our expectations in the level of care provided and treated him like a loved member of their family. During his last few weeks of life, they showed true compassion to our dad and all of our family which was very much appreciated and gave us comfort during a difficult time.
To realise your parent can no longer look after themselves is a particularly difficult thing to come to terms with. When you have to make that decision you do all you can to find the best place for them. After careful research and consideration, he went into Park House. Park House looked after my Dad from September 2020 until his passing away in December 2021. I felt blessed to have found such a caring and compassionate home. He was very happy there and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. Each resident is treated with care, love and compassion. His end of life care made his passing very peaceful and for that, I cannot thank them enough.
My mother has been a resident at Park House for nearly 2 years. Slowly but surely, the staff have gained her trust; she now refers to them as 'friends' and tells me simply 'I like them'. Her needs are multiple: she has Alzheimer's and is no longer mobile. Pre-Covid every effort was made to maintain contact with others; she was not allowed to become bedridden but was moved around the home in a 'bucket chair'. It is a joy to see the way in which, throughout Park House, people are valued and treated as individuals. When we first visited care homes we were also interested in their facilities but wanted above all to assess the quality of relationships. Our confirmed faith in this extends to the excellent level of communication with family, which allows decisions to be shared appropriately. The staff go the extra mile - care worthy of the name. I should add that the recent extension of the home gives the best of both - non-institutional country house ambience plus modern facilities.
My father was a resident at Park House. This care home is fantastic, the care was exceptional, and the staff couldn’t have done any more for my dad. Everything from the food, the care, the activities was so good. He really couldn’t have been in better hands. I would highly recommend this care home. I had visited quite a few care homes previously, and nothing compared to Park House, homely, cleanliness, welcoming staff and when my father was at end-of-life; they looked after me too.
Placing Mum in a care home after sharing 2 years of taking care of her in her own home, was one of the hardest things that my sister and I have ever done. We soon realised, after a preliminary visit, that not only would Mum be safe and well cared for at Park House but she would find herself in a friendly and loving environment that she could regard as home. We liked the informality of Park House and Mum settled down and adjusted far quicker than we expected. All the staff cared for Mum in every sense of the word, even after her stroke, when her care needs increased dramatically. We would like to thank everyone at Park House who created a loving and caring home for Mum to spend the last years of her life.
A lovely place. What makes it stand apart from so many care homes is the dedication of the staff. They really care and do everything they can to support the residents. My mother-in-law was having a "down day" and one member of staff brought her a basket of recently hatched chicks to cheer her up. The food is delicious and made with care and the rooms and grounds are really lovely. Highly recommend.
Exemplary care given within a very positive and supportive environment. My mother is much happier now she is at Park House.
Mum moved into Park House 3 years ago. When she went there she was depressed and physically not in a good way and I thought it would take her ages to settle in. I couldn't have been more wrong! She loves it. Park House is a warm welcoming home with lovely staff who really care for the residents. Mum does not have dementia and is mentally very alert and the staff always treat her as such. They have never patronised her in any way which can happen when dealing with the elderly. They talk to her as they do each other. Mum has a little room but she loves it so much and refuses to move into a larger one. She has flowers outside, a bird table and wonderful views and I haven't seen her so happy for a long time. Park House is a little "tired" in places but I looked at many homes for mum and there are none with the same caring homely feel. Mum is soon to be 97 and 3 years ago I wouldn't have thought she would make her next birthday but since she has moved here she has come alive again.
It's the hardest thing in the world admitting that you can no longer look after your elderly mother, who sadly suffers from dementia. Having looked at several homes, Park House stood out. Not only is it clean and homely, but all the staff are genuinely caring. There is laughter and happiness radiating through the care home. Park House provides several diverse activities in addition to organising outings. The residents are all treated individually and my mother has settled in very quickly, a process greatly assisted by the Care Manager and her deputies. What is particularly striking is that whenever we take mum on an outing, she is delighted to return and the staff always make a fuss of her. It speaks volumes for the Home that there are no set visiting hours and we are always welcome to call at any time of the day or night without prior notice. I can't recommend Park House highly enough. It is very reassuring that my mother is in such safe and caring hands.
My mother has been living at this care home for the past three years and for the first 2.5 years it was a good and positive experience home from home. She was well looked after and I always thought she would stay there as I was told when she went there that it was a home for life. However, when her behaviour became unpredictable due to the worsening of her dementia, the staff were unable to cope with her anymore so I was asked to find her somewhere else that could better meet her needs. I successfully moved my mother and she is now in a specialist dementia care unit and the staff understand the condition and manage very well. Park House can cope as long as the resident is either happy to sit in a chair or lie in bed but I felt they failed my mother's needs when her behaviour changed. The statement about dementia care is misleading as really they are just a residential home and as a residential home, I feel the fees are too high when compared with what else is available.
Lovely place that is homely and full of people who really care. The staff know all of the residents and what they like. They know my grandma likes milky coffee and hot chocolate to drink and buy in olives especially for her. I know that seems like a silly thing but it's exactly those things that really matter for making someone feel cared for. Nothing is generic. They organise activities and pampering in a beautiful home and gardens and guests are always welcome to drop in. Where issues are raised someone is there to listen and try to find a resolution. Whether that's a different room, extra equipment or just updating grandmas wardrobe to something more comfortable. They will always keep my mum updated if there's any change in eating, behaviour or signs of illness. They will do their best to keep someone happily in there care for as long as they are able, even as my grandma's dementia progresses and her mobility reduces, we know she's in the best place to stay happy and comfortable.
My aunt has been resident at Park House for nearly two years. Choosing a care home for a relative is difficult and places vary so much that it can be hard to decide. However, the first time I walked into Park House, I knew this was the right place and continue to believe that she is getting the best care. Her needs are not straightforward as she suffers from dementia. The staff address this in a very professional mannerand I have every faith in them. There is a wonderful cheerful, homely atmosphere at Park House and all the staff are very friendly and approachable. I am very impressed when I see how they interact with the residents.
My father stayed at Park House for about six months before his requirements changed and he needed more specialised care. During this time the care home staff and management were very kind and considerate, the family were always informed of any issues and interventions, which we then could plan together his changing requirements. The home has a very friendly and family feel, the staff are very attentive and easily approachable, all the other residents I spoke to were happy and enjoyed the different activities that were arranged. The home is undergoing structural improvements at the moment, so it is good to see investment in the quality of the surroundings. I would have not hesitation in recommending this home for a loved one, my father always said he was happy and had a smile on his face when visited which was so comforting.
