View Full Details of Caton House Residential and Nursing HomeMUM STAYED FOR TEN DAYS IN FEBRUARY AND WE WERE APPREHENSIVE AS SHE IS QUIET A SOLITARY PERSON AND HAD NEVER BEEN IN RESPITE BEFORE. WHEN WE ARRIVED TO COLLECT HER WE WERE SURPRISED HOW UPBEAT AND HAPPY SHE WAS. ON SPEAKING TO HER IN THE FOLLOWING DAYS SHE SAID HOW KIND AND CARING THE STAFF HAD BEEN AND HOW MUCH SHE HAD ENJOYED HER STAY AND ENJOYED PARTICIPATING IN THE ACTIVITIES. WE HAD FOUND ALL THE STAFF FRIENDLY. KIND AND APPROACHABLE AND WOULD RECOMMEND THIS CAREHOME
My 91 year old mother has Alzheimers and, when her behaviour became too challenging for her first care home, she had to be admitted to hospital. Caton House was the only home from a list suggested by a hospital coordinator that seriously considered accepting her. The Deputy Manager carried out an assessment at the hospital and was very positive, saying 'we can work with her' on admission to Caton House in October 2024 the local GP and carers at Caton House worked out the correct dosage of medication to calm down Mum's aggressive behaviour. After several very stressful weeks, it was such a relief to know Mum was finally being properly looked after and I cannot fault the care she has received at Caton House.
My mother moved recently and has settled in extremely well. We cannot praise the staff and medical team enough. They are patient and kind and nothing is too much trouble. There is a full diary of activities which Mom enjoys and finds stimulating.
Caton House Residential and Nursing Home has been the perfect home for my mother. The care she has received has been exceptional. The chef has really looked after her, with her likes and dislikes. Always happy to help. The nurses are amazing. All the carers and staff are fabulous. She is most definitely in the right place. Thank you.
I am a volunteer at Caton House. This little job has given me a new lease of life. It is so rewarding looking after people not so fortunate as me. A few little hiccups to start with but everything was sorted our very quickly. So look forward to my weekly visit, management and staff are wonderful.
I help with activities. Residents are all very happy, carers are wonderfully caring and helpful.
Staff very helpful and caring. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. Mum recently moved from residential to nursing floor and the whole team there were very welcoming and helpful. Team are always positive and happy to take feedback on board.
My mother has recently lost some of her mobility and it would seem she is not receiving the same level of care and support as previously. I am also finding it more difficult and more expensive to actually pay for her private costs, I used to get a monthly invoice and just call with her credit card details. Because I have a medically diagnosed tremor I cannot key these details in via mobile phone keypad so I now have to post a cheque which entails a trip to my bank to transfer money and the cost of postage, all at extra expense to myself. This has been explained to yourselves, but nothing has been done about it?
My mother is in her 90s and has dementia. She came to Caton House in the summer of 2024 because it was becoming increasingly difficult for her to cope at home. The manager was extremely helpful and understanding in making the arrangements for my mother to stay at Caton House. The staff and volunteers are really caring and my mother is very happy at Caton House. She is much more active and sociable than earlier in the year when she was living at home.
Family activities are well organised. Lovely to spend time with other families at the BBQ. Wonderful can visit any time of the day/night. Most of the staff are amazing and very kind. Shame when short-staffed, but happens everywhere!
Mum is very happy at Caton House, even though she wants to go 'home' sometimes. My only comment would be the addition of activities over the weekend, even if it is jigsaw puzzles on a self-initiated basis. It would also be nice if the en-suite bathrooms were updated.
The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Mum always seems well cared for.
Mum has enjoyed very good care since arriving in September 2022. For the first three months, she was able to join in with activities and was encouraged to do so. Since breaking her wrist and a subsequent decline in her health, Mum has been bedridden (December 22). She gets good care from all staff and excellent from certain members of staff. Refering for treatment can be a slow process, but I feel that this is the surgery/NHS and not within the care home itself. Thanks.
I thoroughly enjoyed my respite stay at Caton House. To be honest, I cannot fault it - it was perfect! All members of staff gave excellent service, above and beyond the call of duty. They made me feel special and safe. Everyone was kind and professional, always acting as if nothing was too much trouble. It gave my daughter and her family a proper break from the responsibility of caring for me 24/7. She knew I was being looked after in a safe, controlled and caring environment. I was happy knowing she was having a break. I soon settled in my lovely room. It was everything I could ask for, especially with a large window looking onto a little garden with a bird feeder and bird bath. The food was outstanding! I looked forward to every meal and enjoyed dining with other residents. Each day I was encouraged to partake in activities which were led by kind, fun and caring staff. In my opinion, it was money well spent and I am very much looking forward to going again in a few weeks time.
My mum was only in the care home for 3 nights before she passed away, the nurses were great I could talk with them about my mum they would listen and advise, the chef went out of their way to try and encourage my mum to eat. My mum wasn’t happy that the food wasn’t always piping hot as she was used to at home but things were listened to and tried to change, the home was clean. The bad part received a call from my mum during the night on the 2nd night she was in, wanting help to get to the toilet, whoever had helped her to bed hadn’t moved the buzzer so it was reachable for her. She was quite distressed. I spoke with the nurses and was assured it wouldn’t happen again. The only other problem was having to organise things like the toilet frame as there was only one helping rail at the toilet not one on either side. Overall my mum was in a small room, it wasn’t the easiest for her to move around in with her frame.
My mum has been at Caton House Residential and Nursing Home for one year and has settled in very well. She is visually impaired and has dementia so has very complex needs and at times, a challenging behaviour. The staff are doing a wonderful job caring for my mum, she is always clean, dressed and her room is clean and tidy. It has taken a load off my mind knowing that she is safe. The staff are approachable dealing with any requests as needed and keep me informed and involved. They are friendly towards relatives and reception is very welcoming. The home is nicely decorated and well-maintained. The food is good, the chefs freshly prepare the food and know what my mum likes eating. They bake delicious cakes for afternoon tea. The entertainment team provide daily activities which are available for residents to join in if they wish. My mum occasionally does and will enjoy it. Overall, I can highly recommend Caton House. The wonderful staff give love and care to the residents as if they are family.
The overall care given at Caton House is good with friendly and helpful staff, carers and nurses. My father has mobility and mental issues, he is completely reliant on the help and support of others, which is given at Caton House. Obviously, care in a care home is not like being in your own home with one-to-one attention, but my mother visits every day keeping an eye on him, making sure he is being looked after and feeling loved. If I have made requests (e.g. personal hygiene, oral or other, room maintenance etc.), they are always dealt with positively and everyone is willing to help. Caton House has just had some re-decoration and new furniture which has brightened up the corridors and living room.
Whenever I vist my dad I always speak to the nurses first to see if anyone anything medically has changed for my dad. They are all very knowledgeable and friendly. All the staff I have met over the years Dad has been in Caton House Residential and Nursing Home have been respectful and considerate to Dad. I believe he's being looked after with dignity and care. Caton House always seems clean and secure. The receptionist is also always friendly and helpful.
My dad spent the last year of his life at Caton House. The care provided to him was outstanding. Staff genuinely care for the residents and seem to enjoy working there. My dad would frequently mention how kind everyone was. Having spent time with my dad (and time while he was asleep), and observing how staff interacted with other residents, I was impressed with the professional but kind and personal approach given to each resident. Caton House gave peace of mind to my family in my dad's final year, knowing that he was being taken care of, and cared for, by such a lovely team of people.
An excellent manager who always has time to listen to any concerns. All staff are friendly and helpful. My dad has a feeding tube so doesn't eat but the food looks good. The staff take time with residents.
