View Full Details of Alexandra HouseI have always found that the staff genuinely care about the residents and the communication between them and myself is very good, when I visit it is reassuring that the admin and care staff know who I am.
A truly caring team and I'm very grateful for all their care and hard work they provide, to make sure my dad and all other residents are kept clean, fed, watered and entertained, at all times of the year. They provide a safe environment for residents with all types and stages of care and vulnerability.
We had to attend a mental capacity test for my mother, which was being completed by a newly qualified social worker and this made us very nervous and anxious. On arrival at the home, we spoke to the covering manager about our concerns and she was brilliant, reassured us and took part in the assessment and my mother was relaxed and happy. The covering manager made us all feel relaxed and reassured. She was brilliant!
My mother has been in Alexandra House now for several months. Nearly every time I visit, she tells me, it is the ideal place for oldies, as she puts it. In my mother's words " staff are always friendly and do not make me feel a nuisance, there is always someone about and they pop in to see me on a regular basis. I have a buzzer next to me, which makes me feel safe. At my age, we need a 'kind' environment. The food is lovely and there are activities if you want to join in." Any time that I visit the home, if I have a query or request, the staff are very reactive, helping me there and then. Since moving into Alexandra House I feel my mum's quality of life has improved greatly, due to this supportive environment.
My mother-in-law who suffers with dementia moved into Alexandra House 18 months ago and she is so happy. We are so grateful to all the staff who are so dedicated to the well-being of the residents, they are all so genuine and really do care. The food is great and plentiful. She gets taken out for shopping trips, lunches, and walking adventures which she loves! It really gives us piece of mind knowing she is safe and well cared for.
Since my father has been in full-time residence we have noticed he is having a better standard of life and he is being very well looked after. All the staff are fantastic. He had been going out on day trips. We were always worried about Dad going in to a care home but thankfully we found a fantastic home for him to stay.
My wife was placed in Alexandra House Care Home in March in palliative care. The home was comfortable, very clean and bright and the care given was exceptional, staff were also attentive to my welfare. Unfortunately, my wife passed away and the staff, from carers, cleaners and management, were excellent and made my wife and I pleased with our choice of home.
Dad has been at Alexandra House for just over a month on a temporary basis. We were quite nervous about how he would take to it, but we needn't have worried. He's having a wonderful time. The staff are all very attentive and kind, and he loves his room with the view of the sea. He looks forward to meals, especially the Sunday roasts. From our point of view, it's very reassuring to know how well Dad is being looked after. If we ever have any questions or concerns, they are always dealt with very quickly and thoroughly. We are all very impressed.
I have been treated with so much care. Everything is no trouble at all. All the staff are so kind and helpful.
My aunt was a resident at Alexandra House for nearly 4 years. I was overjoyed when a place became available for her as I already knew how good the Methodist care homes are. Her dementia steadily progressed but even though she could be known to "pinch the staff where it hurt!" she was always treated with dignity, respect, and love. I remember when she first moved into the house, I was told she was joining the Alexandra family and that's exactly how it was.
My mother, who is in her late 90s, has resided at Alexandra House for several years. She is unfortunate in having very poor hearing and eyesight and therefore feels isolated, being unable to read, listen or converse with others. The staff look after her well, but can not spend much time with her because of the demands on their time, particularly in this Covid period. The management team is hard-working and efficient and deserves praise for how it is coping with unprecedented circumstances.
My Mother has been a resident at Alexandra House for just under a year now and has always received first-class care and attention. All the staff are pleasant and polite and the atmosphere is welcoming. I have nothing but praise for how all at Alexandra House have coped under the pressure of COVID-19 and the national restrictions this has entailed. I am sure we are all looking forward to the new freedoms to come.
My experience when going into Alexandra House has been a good one, everyone always meets you with a friendly smile, and willing to help you if you have a problem. The facilities are excellent, everywhere is spotlessly clean, lounge and dining got a lovely view of the sea and the beach, car parking very good.
The management team were extremely helpful when I had to suddenly organise respite care for my sister-in-law. They dealt with the paperwork efficiently and quickly. All the staff are friendly and helped to settle her in as smoothly as possible.
My Mum has Dementia and had to go into a Care Home as an Emergency in April. All staff at Alexander House have been very helpful and friendly. My Mum is well looked after and has settled in well. I am very happy with her care in Alexander House.
Always an excellent service given, the staff have never been anything but superb in the care given to my aunt, they must have the patience of saints. It has taken some time but my aunt despite initial reluctance is now settled and happy in the home.
My Mother-in-law was treated so well in Alexandra House. They treated her kindness, care and love. She changed back into the happy person we knew. We were very satisfied because it was lovely to see her like that again. Thanks to all the staff for their care.
My Nan was a resident from August last year, while she was at home she had lost weight and always looked withdrawn, as soon as she went to Alexandra House the change was amazing, she put on weight and looked so much brighter in herself, she was more engaging, sadly my Nan passed away, but the care she received during her time there from the staff was outstanding. They kept you informed all the time of how Nan was. We had zoom calls, so we always felt we were with her. I would recommend this residential home without any doubt.
My Great-Nan was in this care home for the last 7 months of her life. Before then, she wasn’t eating at home and felt very lonely. The care home has bought her back to her old self with daily activities such as knitting, flower arranging and even taking part in dressing up! My Nan was quite religious so had regular visits with the vicar and he put her at ease and made sure she was happy. She always had someone to talk to and was very happy with her view of the sea from her room. In the last few weeks, the care home allowed us to be on Zoom with her as often as we wanted to so we can be with her despite the pandemic - I can’t thank the home enough to allow us to have that time with her before she passed away.
My mother was frightened and sad until she came to live in Alexandra House. She changed back to her old self and was smiling and best of all she felt secure. She called Alexandra House her home. It was the best thing to happen to her in a long time. The staff treated her like family.
