View Full Details of The LaurelsAfter a long stay in hospital, we were advised that my Mum would need 24 hour care. This was a very traumatic experience for all the family. However, thank goodness we were fortunate enough to find The Laurels. They didn't just take excellent care of Mum ,they put their arms around all of us . All the dedicated team of carers, cooks and domestic staff are truly wonderful and treat my Mum with respect and kindness. My Mum has thrived in their outstanding care and is unrecognisable to the lady that arrived in December .We are so very grateful to you all and would highly recommend The Laurels.
Mum is treated with a lot of care, very happy with staff here.
The care staff are absolutely amazing, every single detail of my mum's care and wellbeing is catered for, from the fabulous chef cooking delicious home cooked meals available 24/7 to the housekeepers keeping mums room sparkling clean and her laundry always done daily. She is so very well cared for, it is truly a home from home.
Very kind and caring and professional.
The staff are very caring, kind and considerate. My mum always looks clean and well-presented and although my lovely mum has dementia she is on the whole as happy as she can be. The cleaning staff are amazing too and the chef cooks all the food from scratch. The senior staff are excellent and if you have any concerns they will get it sorted as soon as they can.
Staff are very friendly and caring. My dad is well looked after, he is always clean and tidy. He sits in the lounge everyday where activities are on including regular guest singers. The food is always home-cooked and Dad enjoys his meals and puddings. His room is kept spotless. All the staff, including the management, are very friendly and approachable. I would highly recommend The Laurels.
I am very happy with the care my mum is receiving at The Laurels. The staff are kind and caring and deal very well with issues that arise with dementia. The food is very good and the surroundings feel cosy and homely. The garden is a lovely space to look at and hopefully use when the weather is better. It is a difficult decision to move a loved one into a care home but Mum's health and wellbeing have improved since being here.
The Laurels is a comfortable and caring home, I witness the affection of the staff with the residents every time I visit my mother. The food is lovely and plentiful. My mother recently had a visit to hospital. She was not cared for the same there and has made a huge recovery since being 'home' and under the care of the people who know her and treat her as family.
My father lives comofrtbaly in The Laurels. He is always smart, clean and presentable. The staff are always polite, kind and caring towards my father. He appears happy in his surroundings. Some of the evening food is a bit like party food which we've spoken to The Laurels about as it lacks nutrition and is too high in sugar for his diabetes. The floor supervisors do an excellent job looking after the residents and managing the staff.
I visit my mum each week or fortnight, depending how she is. She has been at The Laurels now about 4 years. I think she has been very happy here and seems quite at home and enjoys the company of the residents and the staff. To me she seems very settled and I like visiting her at The Laurels. She has been in hospital 3 times since she has been here and always want to come back as soon as she can. I think though the increase in fees of 20% (over) this year is unfair and excessive.
Mum has settled into The Laurels really well, staff are very friendly and nothing is too much for them, they go above and beyond to make Mum comfortable, Mum enjoys the entertainment, for example the bingo and the craft and art activities, also the live entertainment she loves and she loves to dance with the staff.
The kitchen staff are very good. The carers are good and extremely helpful. My husband is well looked after.
My mother is delighted that she finally made the decision to move into care, and she is fortunate to be at the Laurels. The staff are excellent, committed to their work, always courteous to their guests and prepared to go to great lengths to solve problems. When there have been issues, these have been addressed promptly and efficiently. My mother feels secure and I'm happy that she's in the best place.
The care from day one of Mum going into The Laurels has been great. The staff are always happy and willing to engage with residents and help them out with any needs they may require. The home get in entertainers to sing and get the residents to join in if they are possible to do so.
I am please to say my mother has been looked after for the time spending in the care home, it would help me if there was someone with her just to sit and talk to her during the day as being bedbound I feel she could be lonely. Also the puree food could be more variation. Could there be a conversation with staff on how Mum is healthwise. Clothes in her draw are always crumbled up. Paper straws are awful, they get soggy and break in mouth, very hazardous as Mum could have choked. Lovely garden but never see anyone there. Otherwise very pleased with care home staff.
very friendly and helpful staff. Great care given to Mum.
My wife has received excellent care since being here. Nothing has been too much trouble. She has settled down very well. Would not want her to be anywhere else.
The Laurels has been caring for my mother for the last 16 months through many ups and downs. They have cared for her with constant dignity and love, engaging her at every opportunity. She has been well looked after especially when she had a couple of falls and hospitalisation recently. Their care has adapted to her new circumstances with ease. I'm so pleased that they can be relied on and thankful that I need not worry about her.
My Mum was in The Laurels for a year. The majority of carers are lovely. The Management and head carer are the downfall. There is a high turnaround of staff. We had many issues; mismanagement of medication, mum dressed in other's clothes, dirty nails, no showers/hair wash, and poor communication. It is all open plan and very noisy in the lounge with everyone together. Mum had a nice bedroom but very noisy residents around her room. Mum sadly died and we had no support from the Management or Head Carer whatsoever. In fact, the day Mum died they left early without our knowledge, it was disgraceful. The responsible carer left would not stay in Mum's room as Mum dying "reminded her of her dad". I sent a letter of how I felt after Mum died; no response was received, no condolence card, they didn't even ask when the funeral was! Please visit this care home a lot before you put your loved one here, and please visit at night too as residents sleep in the chairs and sofas and in my opinion not enough staff. Shame only 1000 words max.
I visit most days. The staff are excellent and work extremely hard, but some days the entertainment is very poor. I feel maybe the residents could do what they would have done at home i.e washing, cooking, cleaning. These could be used with play items like a shop setup so they can choose items they need. The entertainment, i.e singers are great and I see them enjoying themselves. Maybe they could make some cakes or biscuits.
