View Full Details of Oakdale Care HomeBecause I live a couple of hours away, I usually get to visit my mother around every two weeks Everytime I see her she always seems happy and content. I usually comment that she appears younger-looking every time I see her. The other occupants always appear to look well looked after also. The staff are always friendly and helpful.
My Mum has been a resident at Oakdale for the past 5.5 years. When she was taken to the home she was in very poor health but within the first 6 months she was transformed to her old self. This was entirely due to the care, attention and love given to her by the staff at Oakdale. Sadly she passed away recently but the staff made her very comfortable and made it possible to stay in the home until the end. I visited several care homes before choosing Oakdale, the deciding factors for me were the fabulous staff, the overall condition of the home and the wonderful grounds around the home. My mum really did think it was her own place and the other residents were her friends and family. I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Oakdale.
My father suffers with Dementia and had taken to wandering out of his house at night and this was a concern which we had to act upon. Finding somewhere safe for a loved on to stay is a daunting task and very stressful. We visited Oakdale Care Home with a view to placing my Dad there as part of going round and looking at care homes near to where we live. Unlike others we had visited where you get a brief tour and ask a few Questions, the manager sat with myself and my wife for an hour telling us of all the benefits and answered all of our questions. We met several staff members during this time and also spoke to other residents and their family members. All of whom spoke very highly of this home. This is an amazing home and there is very much a feel of family for both residents and their family members.. The kindness and compassion we received was like nothing I had experienced or expected. This is an outstanding home and we feel very lucky to have found such a lovely place for my dad to stay.
Mum has dementia and after a week's stay in hospital because of her mobility, we had to decide to move her into a care home. Our first choice of home didn't work well for Mum but when we moved her to Oakdale it was clear to us that all the staff were friendly and caring and cared for the residents as people not numbers. The home has a homely atmosphere and I think the fish tank is a lovely extra for the residents to look at. Nothing has been too much for the management or staff, they are always happy to answer any questions and keep us informed. I live 3 hours away and am now happy and settled knowing that my mum is being cared for in the best possible way with compassion and love. We know here dementia is getting worse but it will be easier to accept the changes this will bring to Mum knowing she is being cared for in the right place. The meals always smell and look lovely and the rooms are nicely decorated with a homely feel.
My mother-in-law went into Oakdale at the beginning of September 2024. We had been recommended to this care home by a lot of people as the one for her to get the best care - she has dementia and they specialise in looking after residents with this condition. The care is absolutely exceptional, you can tell the carers working there love their jobs. On Friday we went to a cheese and wine evening which also had a singer. It was lovely seeing the residents enjoying themselves and everyone seemed so happy. My mother-in-law said to all of us 'I love being here' which says it all. Would highly recommend this care home 100 per cent. It may not have all the 'bells and whistles' that some care homes have but you have to look past that, as it should be about the care and I give this one 10 out of 10 for it.
I chose this residential home for Mum's 2-week respite as a friend's mum is a resident here. The staff are genuinely caring towards everyone and there is a lovely welcoming feeling. Everyone looks clean and groomed. The food looked appetising and there is always drinks available. Rooms are cleaned and aired daily. I felt that Mum was kept safe and was well looked after during her stay and I wouldn't hesitate to hopefully book another stay in the near future. Thank you everyone at Oakdale, you are all doing a fantastic job!
My mum has been at Oakdale for two months now. This is the first time she has been in a care home. I was very very nervous about her going there; it was something I didn't want to happen, but there was no option. From the moment she went in, my fears were allayed. The manager took her in personally and made her feel very special. I feel she is in a safe place and in safe hands. The carers I have met are, without exception, lovely, kind, gentle and professional, and my mum likes them all. The home feels cosy and warm. Mum's bedroom is always neat and tidy and smells really nice. She has made friends easily there. I no longer feel the sense of dread I had before. Whenever I visit, I am made to feel welcome, and there are always plenty of staff on hand, watching the residents and talking to them. I have been there during activity times also, and it is good to see the interaction between the staff and residents.
Our mum has dementia and could no longer cope living alone. She became anxious and fearful, rarely went to bed and paced the floor most nights opening the front door regularly to check outside. She joined Oakdale in June, we were of course most concerned that she would not settle and may become even more confused. It did take a little while for her to settle, however, the home manager assured us this was not uncommon. Now 4 months on she is happy and content. Sleeps all night & looks well & rested. The staff are kind, caring, friendly, patient and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble, more than happy to answer any queries we may have. The activities coordinator offers a varied range of interesting recreational pursuits. It's a busy, happy environment which is wonderful for residents who have maybe been alone for some time. There is also a quiet lounge. We viewed several homes but as soon as we saw Oakdale knew this was right for our mum.
We are into the second year of Mum's residence at Oakdale and I am happy to say the standard of care is as great as it was last year. The introduction of a bespoke activity coordinator late last year has added to Mum's experience providing more stimulation and entertainment. The carers are a great bunch, always smiling and happy, providing a homely atmosphere compared to the sterile/medical environment at some care homes. I would highly recommend Oakdale upon the unfortunate circumstance that a family member requires full-time care.
My mum went into Oakdale for residential care four weeks ago. Was highly recommended to this care home from so many people as was the one to go to. The care from the staff is exceptional. It is not luxurious in its appearance but it is also about the care, and it deserves top marks for that. Most of the carers there have been there for years, which says a lot, and you can see they love working there. The manageress is very hands-on and truly caring towards all the residents. I would highly recommend this care home.
Mum has been a full time dementia resident at Oakdale for three months now and I can honestly say that I am so pleased we chose Oakdale. The carers, the activity coordinator, the support staff and the management are all so welcoming. Making the decision to place a loved one into a care home is really difficult and settling them can be really tricky. I honestly feel that every effort has been made to help my mum settle in. Don't be fooled by the aesthetics of a home. It's the care that matters and the care at Oakdale is amazing.
I am very happy with the care my mother gets at Oakdale. The staff go out of their way to get to know each resident's likes, dislikes and needs and to make them feel like treasured members of the Oakdale family. The different activities, both group and one to one, are well thought out and have made a huge difference to my mother's health and well-being. I would thoroughly recommend Oakdale to anyone looking for a well-run, caring and happy environment for their loved one.
My mother has been a resident at Oakdale for two and a half years and I cannot speak highly enough of the kind and compassionate care that she receives. There is a lovely homely atmosphere whenever I visit Oakdale. There are also numerous activities arranged to stimulate and involve the residents. The staff are very professional and well organised, I would highly recommend Oakdale.
When we first came to view Oakdale after visiting many, we knew it was the one straight away. The manager and staff are first class and you will not find better. And as for the entertainer, well she is a credit to the home, I haven't seen this much entertainment given to the residents, first class all round. My father joined the home on the 12th of February 2024, and he's been on more outings with this home than he ever did at his previous home, so all in all this was the best move ever for my father and we are truly at ease with him being there. This home is 10 plus out of 10.
Sadly we had to make the difficult decision for my mum to go into long-term care in April, but from the first point of contact, our experience of the care at Oakdale has been first-class. Every member of staff has been kind, compassionate and caring. My mum has settled in so well, is always smiling, and my 93-year-old dad is always greeted by name and feels welcomed and included whenever he visits, often being invited to stay for his lunch. The activities coordinator uses many different methods to provide meaningful activities for Mum, which help to reduce any distress she feels from her memory loss. We are so pleased we chose Oakdale to look after Mum.
Our mum has been a resident at Oakdale since the middle of January. As soon as we came for the show around we knew we had found the ideal care home for her, it had a lovely homely feel to it. The manager and her team helped her settle in very quickly, all her needs are taken care of to a very high standard. When we visit Mum she is always happy, relaxed and getting involved in all of the activities. We would highly recommend Oakdale.
My father has been in Oakdale since December 24 2023. As a family, we are very pleased with the care he has received. We are always welcome when we visit. We know my father is well treated and looked after by all of the staff.
What a great care home. My wife has been in care at Oakdale since the beginning of the year and has been well looked after. The manager and her team are very caring and patient and make my wife feel at home. I go to see my wife every day and they make me welcome. If you are looking for care for a loved one I would certainly recommend Oakdale.
My Dad has lived at Oakdale for nearly four years now, he first went there for 3 weeks respite after leaving hospital. The care he received then and every day since has been amazing, the staff are all so kind and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Dad is always clean and well dressed, his medical needs are always addressed quickly. The food is always good and there is plenty of it. Dad's room is how he likes it, with pictures from home on the wall. The manager is always helpful and answers my questions. I'm so glad I found Oakdale, it really has a family feeling. I love visiting Dad and always feel welcome.
Lovely home. Very caring staff. They went out of their way to make Mum feel welcome and settle in. Will not hesitate to use them again. They were also very welcoming to family. They provided plenty of activities which Mum really enjoyed.
