View Full Details of Braemar LodgeThe care my father received over the past year and a half has been exceptional. Sadly my father passed away recently and even towards the end, the care he received was second to none. The staff always made sure my dad was up, cleaned and dressed and ready to enjoy a cooked breakfast most mornings. The home feels very comfortable and even for me, the daughter, when dad arrived, they said treat it like your home you can come and go as you please. They often had singers and entertainment for the residents and also had nursery school children to come in and sing. I really could not have cared for my dad any better than the care he received at Braemar Lodge from all of the staff and I shall be ever grateful. It's always a very daunting time having to look for a care home for a loved one but would highly recommend Braemar Lodge.
My friend resided here at Braemar. I visited regularly. Would always be offered a drink upon entering. The care was so marvellous and hands-on. They could not do enough for the residents. I am pleased that my friend was in such capable hands. It was nice to know he was safe and happy. Thank you to all of the staff at Braemar.
My mother went into this home in December 2018. We were told by senior staff that they were “one big happy family”. The care received was excellent. Sadly, my mother spent more time in hospital than at the home. A member of management said they would visit the hospital but this never happened. My mother came out of hospital 8/5/19 and sadly passed away 13/5/19. I received a phone call from a very upset carer to give me the sad news. This is where the care and “one big happy family” stopped when no more money was coming in. We have had no contact from senior staff since my mother’s passing, is this part of your bereavement support as stated in the literature we received. At this sad and very upsetting time for my family I would still like to thank those carers who looked after my mother, it's just a shame that the senior members of staff who are in charge of you have let the team down.
Our dear mum, nan and great nan had been a resident at Braemar Lodge Care Home for the past two years. Concerns had been raised about mums care, as she had had a fall in July 2018. A meeting subsequently took place to address issues but since then, there has been a lack of communication between the owner and management with ourselves. When questions about her care were again raised, this resulted in mum being served a ‘termination of occupancy notice’ (evicted) and forced to move. Mum will be 94 in December, has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and has severe arthritis so is in constant pain. This has caused mum and us as a family much distress. We all feel this was a cruel, heartless and vindictive thing to do. We sincerely hope that this review will prevent other families from going through the same upset as us.
My mother is a frail 93-year-old, suffering from Alzheimer’s disease who has lived at Braemar Lodge for two years and is popular with residents and staff. She too has been evicted, regardless of the fact that even a slight change to her circumstances can cause extreme distress. Concerns were raised with the owner/manager before and after my mother had a fall earlier this year, some of which were addressed. However, a follow-up by social services seemed to upset the management team and resulted in our mother being served notice. We feel that this has nothing at all to do with my gentle mother but is because her family, who visit several times a week and care deeply, questioned certain aspects of her care. Some of the staff employed at the home are lovely, caring individuals, who work long hours at a difficult job. However, in our view, the fact that the management would even consider evicting a vulnerable adult supposedly in her ‘care’ says all you need to know about this home.
Really lovely staff and helpful. Day support has been fantastic. Caring and considerate ways in which the staff care. Mum will hopefully settle in the home eventually from day support.
My dad lived in this home for 2 years. He seemed to settle in nicely and was happy most of the time. His room was ok but I would sweep it now and again as it wasn't done on a regular basis. I appreciate dad had dementia and would fiddle/break things but this is just a dementia trait. After 2 years my dad was asked to leave this home as he was fiddling with things too much and causing too much damage! (Removing signs, picking the floor, moving the curtains etc.). My family and I felt this home would be more suitable for the more advanced patient just sitting in a chair or in bed and not doing much else!! Dad had dementia and acted like a lot of dementia patients but the home couldn't handle this. Moving a patient like this is, I believe, detrimental to their health and caused dad to be extremely unsettled. I would take this into consideration when looking at this home if your loved one is mobile!
