View Full Details of Catherine Miller HouseMy mum has been a resident of Catherine Miller House for 16 months now, she is happy and well cared for. All the staff are very kind and caring, they treat the residents with dignity and respect. The family are always made to feel very welcome and kept informed of Mum's condition. I have a background in nursing and therefore understand how difficult it is supporting those with dementia, but the staff are very patient with all the residents and sensitive to their individual needs. I know that my mum is safe and loved by the staff who look after her. The management team lead by example and this is evident throughout the care and housekeeping staff. Mum enjoys the daily games and craft activities, as well as visits from choirs and entertainers, we are happy, knowing that she is happy. Thank you all for your excellent care.
Catherine Miller House is a wonderful care home. The facilities are excellent, with a comfortable communal area and a garden for the residents and visitors to enjoy. The staff are very attentive in caring for the residents and sensitive to their needs, consistently checking on them and taking the time to chat and engage with them. My grandmother came to the home earlier this year, and we have seen a marked improvement in her health and well-being. The staff monitor her and have been quick to react to any medical needs, and with a healthy and varied diet, she is no longer losing weight and looks much healthier. All the staff have been fantastic in not only her care but communication with the family. They made the transition to the home straightforward, ensuring my grandmother was settled and reassured. The staff are always welcoming to visitors, and the home has many activities and events to entertain for both residents and visitors. I could not be happier with the care my grandmother receives.
Catherine Miller House Care Home is what all care homes should be like. The premises has a lovely garden, which means the residents can get out into fresh air and see greenery. The care staff are excellent, they really engage. The administration is on the ball and sensitive to peoples' needs. My step mum, who had advanced Alzheimer's, had to go into care when my dad suddenly passed away. Catherine Miller House was so easy to deal with at a difficult time. I thoroughly recommend this care home.
My dear mum has been a resident at Catherine Miller House for almost four years. She is very happy, well-loved and supported by the dedicated staff. Dad was also nursed for three weeks on end-of-life care with great dignity and family support until his passing. Covid-19 has meant that staff replaced the families visits during lockdown and kept everyone safe during such difficult times. Catherine Miller House has experienced a period of staff movement but the professionalism and dedication of the present management team provided a seamless change unnoticed by residents. Since the visitor and garden rooms were opened, there is an air of competence, calm and kindness for our loved ones. Mum has always been well cared for but there is something extra special about the team now in place and that can only come from the top. The staff seem happy and always available to discuss any concerns. Thank you to the management team for leading the care team so professionally, giving us the confidence to entrust Mum to your excellent care.
I cannot thank all the staff at Catherine Miller enough for all that they do for my mum. Mum has lived there for 5 years and is always telling me that moving there was the best thing she has done. All the staff are so kind and caring and seem to really understand Mum. Since March with the COVID situation, it must have been very difficult but staff had the time to help Mum to chat to me on FaceTime and keep me updated on how she was. Now an appointment system for socially distanced meetings in the garden has been set up. Thank you to all of you.
My Mum has Alzheimer’s and at times she can be very challenging. The staff are patient, friendly and very caring. They are always ready with a chat and a hug to cheer her up when her condition makes her emotional. During lockdown, although I have not been able to visit, they have arranged regular Skype calls and I also have had regular conversations on the telephone. Although during the lockdown the out of home activities have had to be suspended, events and parties have been arranged within the home. The home is kept very clean and tidy and suggestions regarding all aspects of the home and care given are encouraged and welcomed. I was very apprehensive about putting Mum into a care home, but feel a lot more at ease seeing the care she receives here.
We would like to thank all the staff at Catherine Miller House for all the outstanding work that you do, you all go above and beyond to look after the residents and families especially at this hard time. We could not think of a better place for our mum to be looked after. No matter how busy you are you have always got time to FaceTime so we can see her even though you are all run off your feet caring for everybody at the home, everybody is so polite and helpful. Our mum is well looked after with her hair and nails being done and so clean and looking lovely which no one else could do. Over the last couple of years we are so happy to see her looking like this it takes special people like you to achieve this also laying on entertainment and outings which the residents all love and for us it's nice to know they are getting out. You are always there to answer questions so we have no worries, a very big thank you to the team leader for sitting with mum whilst we do FaceTime helping her to talk again.
My grandmother lives in this home and the standards of care are exceptional. My grandmother has recently been diagnosed with dementia after having a stroke and I feel so happy with the amount of love and care by all staff and manegment. I couldn't recommend a better home.
Cannot thank this care home enough. Our mum wasn’t there long unfortunately but we wished we had found them from the start of mums illness. They are kind, compassionate, understanding, and have a genuine care for all the residents, they gave mum back her dignity, she felt comfortable and relaxed. They go above and beyond their normal duties as carers and have a wonderful atmosphere and welcome relatives and residents alike with open arms. The home is set just by a park so residents get to be out in the sunshine something mum enjoyed enormously. I would recommend (and I have) this home to anyone wanting their relatives to feel safe and happy.
My mum was a resident at Catherine Miller House for 14 months and I feel very lucky to have found such a lovely home for her in her final months. Out of the homes I viewed, Catherine Miller House was by far the nicest. Both mum and myself were made to feel so welcome and part of the Catherine Miller House family and this was particularly evident in mum's final hours when she was so clearly surrounded by love as each member of staff came to say goodbye. I was really touched by their care and compassion and couldn't have wished more for my dear mum. In the time that mum lived at Catherine Miller House, I found the staff to be caring, sympathetic and full of empathy for the residents and always welcoming to me as a visitor. They listened to any concerns that I had and acted on them to reassure me and make mum as comfortable as possible. I will be forever grateful for their support and friendship during such a difficult phase for me and my family. I continue to visit mum's friends at the home and am always greeted like an old friend.
My mother entered Catherine Miller House in September 2016. It can be a difficult decision for families deciding whether admitting your loved ones into a care home is the right thing to do. We were offered so much support from management to senior carers and general staff. It can be a daunting time for new residents and I think it's fair to say we were no exception, however, in no time at all my mother settled into the lovely family orientated environment. The staff are incredibly kind loving and attentive, anything and everything I have questioned queried or needed has been dealt with in the best interest of my mother and with the utmost professionalism. The staff accommodate in every way possible. All events of the year are acknowledged by way of Fetes, parties and happy celebrations and all families are welcome and included. We couldn't be happier with where we have chosen to place my mother and we highly recommend this care home for their standard of care. Absolutely wonderful.
I visited 6 care homes in my search for a place for mum, who is 91, frail and has dementia. My experience of homes, therefore, is limited. Catherine Miller House was by far the most inviting: it was bright and lively and clean and smelled nice; other homes seemed less able to manage incontinence and smelled far less pleasant. In the 6 months or so prior to her move to Catherine Miller House, mum was extremely anxious, at times horribly distressed and certainly depressed; the terrifying symptoms of her worsening dementia were compounded by the social isolation of living alone. Mum has now lived at Catherine Miller House for a little over 4 months. After a short settling in period, I began to notice a change in her. She became happier, less anxious, cleaner (!) and looked 10 years younger! She began again to interact with those around her. Inevitably, she still has difficult episodes - but the kindness and affection with which the (mainly young) staff respond to her cannot be faulted.
