View Full Details of Cavell LodgeMum has now been in Cavell Lodge for over 5 years during which time her mobility and dementia have deteriorated markedly. This was expected by the family as Mum is now 101 years old. Her care at Cavell Lodge has been nothing short of fantastic. Mum always looks clean and smartly dressed with her necklace of 'pearls'. She is addressed respectfully by the attendant staff who show an admirable sense of calm and patience in dealing with her varying states of agitation. Mum now has one-to-one care for part of the day and this is provided by an outside agency; this care has been extremely kind and also patient. Mum's care has been so good that, as a family, we have felt very much at ease with her situation.
My mother moved into Cavell Lodge mid December and after 4 weeks she is feeling comfortable, safe and settled. The staff are caring, polite, and delightful. They have been very helpful and accommodating. Today, on arrival to visit my mother, I was invited to join the daily activity which was a singalong session. It was a fun joyful activity lead by a lovely lady and the brilliant activity coordinator. It was wonderful and moving to see how some of the resident's demeanour changed completely within a short space of time and after half an hour were different people.
Our experience so far at Cavell Lodge has been great. The staff are very caring, friendly and professional. The atmosphere is calm, homely, fresh and bright. The food is excellent, my dad often stays for lunch with my mum which is lovely for both of them. As a family, we feel assured that mum is getting very good care in a safe and loving environment. Daily activities, background music, fresh decor and happy staff make for the best alternative home for mum.
This home is extremely well run, in a professional manner. All staff are very obliging - nothing is too much trouble. Food is of a very good quality - good choices all around. Ample portions, well cooked and presented. Varied choices of activities throughout the week. Relaxing atmosphere in lounges. Residents rooms are well equipped. Would recommend and represents value for money.
A lovely clean care home. Staff were always kind and caring. When visiting we were always welcomed. Management and staff approachable. Thank you all for looking after my nan so very well and supporting our family.
After a very difficult time, we were accepted to put Mum into Cavell Lodge. The manager put himself out and did an amazing job to help me! I cannot thank him enough, I have never met such a caring and thoughtful person! All of the staff at Cavell Lodge are so friendly, will do anything to help, are second to none, always approachable. Sadly I lost my mum on 9th February 2024 and the staff were so supportive, they couldn't do enough for us. The overall home has always been spotless, with lovely decor, never smelt at all just nice and fresh. All rooms are so clean and the home is like an extra family home.
There is just one word to describe Cavell Lodge, absolutely faultless and without a doubt, as a qualified nurse, the best of the best I have ever seen. With the luxurious surroundings and every attention to detail plus the incredible attention at all times of every single member of staff/management, it is more like a luxury hotel 5*. I could not recommend it more highly, nor praise the care team more than 'exceptional'.
I have now been in Cavell Lodge for six months. During that time my condition has worsened and the staff have ensured that a care plan has been put in place. I cannot speak highly enough of the manager and team here. Nothing is too much trouble. They have ensured my room is equipped with suitable furniture as needed and that I get all the ongoing assistance required.
Excellent care home. My mum is well looked after by the excellent staff. Any problems are dealt with swiftly and there is good communication. Mum is treated with respect and care and she feels safe.
I cannot praise the care my 98-year-old mother is receiving at Cavell Lodge highly enough. The staff are immensely caring and the home is extremely clean and maintained to a very high standard. In her twilight years, Mum is receiving the five-star care she deserves and which gives her family peace of mind.
We would like to thank all at Cavell Lodge for making our mother's 100th birthday party so memorable. They went the extra mile. A wonderful time was had by all. The staff at Cavell are amazingly caring. Our mother's care is exemplary.
My mum had been a resident for three years and the care has been fantastic, although she has recently passed away. We cannot thank the staff and management of all their support and assistance over the last three years. Mum's dementia was dealt with sympathetically and she was treated as much as a friend, as a resident. The events that were laid on and activities all were to enrich the environment of the residents. Mum had a great time and although she sometimes became nervous, due to her dementia, she always commented how kind the staff were and she was happy to be there. She didn't always know where 'there' was, but the support always made sure she was never left worried. At the worst, we would be contacted straight away and the staff were friendly and responsive to Mum's needs. From the rooms, that were perfect for Mum's needs, to the cleanliness of the home and the suitability of garden facilities, it's just a really nice place. I am happy in the knowledge Mum enjoyed her time there. She passed away June 2023.
Cavell Lodge Care Home is well-run and immaculate. The standard of care is excellent given the recent challenges of Covid and staff retention for all the care sector. The high quality of the food offered is a feature of the home. The staff make a huge effort, especially at Christmas, Easter and dates such as Valentine's Day to celebrate the seasons and events. There is an enthusiastic programme of events which residents can attend. The manager and senior staff are always professional, friendly and available to discuss any matters relating to the care and well-being of residents.
Mother has lived here since April 2018 and has been extremely well cared for all this time. The staff are kind and caring and very efficient whilst providing a loving environment. I know that she is safe and cared for at all times.
My nan turned 100 this August, and I am blown away with how everyone at Cavell Lodge made this event so special. The build-up to this day has been immense for us all, made even more so with coronavirus. Given that up until recently, we didn’t think we’d even all be able to see her on her special day, to be able to have a small, safe gathering blew us away. It was more than I could have dreamed of, and looking around at everyone’s faces I think the feeling is mutual with the whole family! Nan genuinely seemed to enjoy herself, and I’ve never seen her smile so much – she was definitely channelling her inner HRH when she was waving at everyone! The dedication, care and love you and the team give to nan (as well as everyone else) is incredible and whilst nan losing her independence was something we hoped would never happen, she really couldn’t be in a better place to keep her safe and well. Without exception, everyone I’ve met at Cavell Lodge has been nothing short of fabulous.
I want to highlight my gratitude for the level of care that Cavell Lodge have shown during the current pandemic. They have done their utmost to ensure that all residents are happy and safe in the current unusual environment. They have taken time to explain to residents what is going on and have tried to ensure that the daily activities of the home are carried out as safely as possible. All staff are friendly and caring and the home is kept meticulously clean.
I have been very impressed by the care my mother has received at Cavell Lodge. The staff are pleasant and helpful and I like the atmosphere. I only visit once a month as I live over 350 miles away but I speak to my mother almost daily so I hear about what happens e.g. outings which are arranged - in normal circumstances of course. And other features, whether nail care, painting flower pots, gentle dance, a regular visit and songs from a school class - these are just some examples. All practical issues are dealt with promptly. I am on their mailing list and get regular updates of what is happening, and why they have taken decisions.
As a local GP I have visited many care homes in this area. Cavell Lodge is outstanding. My mother is 96 years old and severely sight impaired. The care, kindness, thoughtfulness and expertise that she has received since being a resident there has been second to none. The staff all go ‘above and beyond ‘ to help all residents and make each one feel special. They adapt their care to individual needs, and always do so with a smile. It is an exceedingly well-run care home and I am reassured that my dear mother is in the best of hands.
The manager and his staff were excellent. My mother was 98 at the beginning and wanted to return home. After two months her almost final words to me said she had decided that she was happy at the home and wanted to stay.
An excellent care home where staff really know the residents and treat them like family. Rooms are clean bright and residents choice of colours decor etc. is listened to. The food is very good and well presented with plenty of choice. Activities are very inclusive if residents wish to participate but there are also quiet areas for peace and reflection. It is a pleasure to visit Cavell Lodge and the running of the home just gets better and better.
