View Full Details of Havengore HouseThe staff at Havengore are so nice and insightful about the residents. Management are friendly and professional. Havengore is homely, mum is happy and settled. Staff have been extremely supportive and I can't thank them enough. Also there are lots of staff, always present for the residents. The home is dementia friendly, things like open wash cabinets by the sink so a resident doesn't have to figure out how to open it. Different colour door for the bathroom so that it can be identified easily. Little things that aren't necessary aesthetically pleasing, but so functional for dementia patients. There's quiet and calm, with activities to break up the day. Mum loves her picture of Elvis Presley from an entertainer, I get told about it every time I phone mum! The thing that sets the home aside is the lovely smell. I visited quite a few that had a lingering smell of urine - not Havengore, the carpet cleaner is quite often active and the home is clean. We are pleased we chose this home.
My mum has been in your care for the last year now, my thanks go to the whole team for the respect and care they have shown her during this time. I will forever be grateful for all of the support you have shown me and my family. A team who cares. Thank you.
Havengore House were caring for my elderly mother initially but now have my 72 year old brother in their care who is suffering from severe Parkinson's disease and who is now completely paralysed. Havengore is always clean and the staff helpful and professional. We appreciate the high standard of care received by my brother, dealing with him is very time consuming and sometimes physically demanding.
What a great place. My ex neighbour stays there and I visit every month. Modern and clean rooms. Food cooked in a home cooked style. The staff are all kind and caring. All good here.
After reading the reviews I was relieved to have my 69 yr old mum discharged here from the hospital. Sadly, that was short lived. On arrival Mum wasn't tended to quickly and was obviously sad and upset to be there and confused and was left in reception awaiting the next steps. There is no doubt the staff are friendly and have good intentions, we can't take that away. But the home itself looks nice from the photos and the reception area but that's as far as it goes in our view as a family. The room Mum was placed in was dated and her bathroom we had to ask to be cleaned (which was done quickly). It was more like a prison cell than an inviting restful room. When we were there Mum was not fed on the first day and we had to ask for her to be included in the day's meal rounds (if we didn't, she wouldn't have been fed nor had her medication). I also witnessed a resident fitting in her chair - no one attended to her. We removed Mum after 2 days in this place sadly.
My mum was in Havengore House for almost 8 weeks. The care she received until her passing was very caring. All staff were attentive and ready to listen and advise if required. Havengore is a lovely and well-run care home that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. I can't praise all the staff enough for their efforts.
Although Mum’s was stay was very short I would like to say a huge thank you to the staff for the kindness and care she received upon arrival, the welcome was lovely, but the care she received in her final days was great. Thank you all so much.
When I needed to move my mother into a care home, I was looking for a homely place with caring staff, rather than something that felt like a hotel. Havengore exceeded my expectations. It is only small, but the care my mother received was unfailingly excellent. She put on weight, and was happier and more engaged than she had been for some time. The staff are very attentive and being small, they really know the residents, and they get to know the staff well, which is important for older people. The food is good, varied and the staff will get extras when needed. They arrange regular events by way of extra stimulus and also outings. I cannot recommend Havengore more highly.
I found the the staff at Havengore House absolutely amazing, nothing was too much for the staff, whenever I visited my uncle. Not just my uncle, but everyone staying at the home, it's like a big family. Not only did they care for my uncle but they were so kind to me too. A care home is only as good as the people working within in it. Havengore House is excellent. I have visited since my uncle passed away to show my gratitude to the manager and staff, first class.
From the first phone call to enquire about respite care, I was impressed with the care, kindness and professional approach of the staff. When my husband's health rapidly deteriorated and end of life care was needed everything was done to ensure he was pain-free, comfortable and treated with dignity. Staff still spoke to him when attending to his personal care, night staff checked on him every 15 minutes. They also cared for us, members of his family which gave us great comfort.
I am very happy with the care my dad receives. He is always clean and tidy when I visit him. The staff are all very friendly and make me feel welcome. My dad always says there is plenty of food, not all to his taste, but in his words "I'm a fussy so and so". The home is kept very clean.
This home is amazing. They do not only look after the resident, but they also look after the relatives. We have had an incredibly difficult transition period with our mum and the home has been supportive at every turn. The GP that covers the home spends the time to get to know the residents and I am 100% sure my mum is in the right place. There is no agency staff and the care home feels like a house/home rather than an institution. They give us advice about what is best for Mum and ensure that she is stimulated there is no just shoving her in a chair in front of the telly. Physically she is the best she has looked in a year. The staff are all trained to look after people with dementia and Mum is treated with compassion and dignity at all times. I would not hesitate to recommend Havengore house to anyone who has a relative with dementia. Thank you.
Mum was very happy here, it was a second home to her. Very well organised activities, both inside and outside the home, and with their own minibus to facilitate visits to a wide variety of events. Caring staff who treated Mum like one of their own family and nothing was too much trouble. The home is kept very clean and tidy and maintains a high standard of housekeeping. Thank you to all at Havengore House who made life much easier for us coping with Mum's needs.
Havengore House management and staff provide a safe and secure place for my mother, who now has advanced Alzheimer's. The staff are caring and thoughtful to all residents needs. Activities are plentiful including days out, and meals are home-cooked, and a good choice of menu is offered to residents every day. I am very pleased with the level of care my mother receives.
My mother died in the care home in September. I was impressed with the level of care and concern shown to her, and the genuine sadness of staff when she died. Our family were welcomed and cared for as we gathered there. My father is also a resident, and it is clear that the staff know him and his foibles well. He is very happy in the home, and particularly enjoys the activities organised by a wonderful volunteer there. My parents were happy there together, and my father remains happy and well cared for.
The staff at the home always greet you with a smile and welcome. They show care and support. The home is clean and bright. Food very good. There are activities always going on and the residents are taken out for lunch or afternoon tea. Staff have made the feeling there homely.
Mum has been at Havenfore for just over 3 months. Her welcome and support in adapting to her new home and circumstances has been exemplary at a very unsettling time for her. Staff have been professional, friendly and sincere in their care and attention to her social, mental and physical health needs. The food, always a highlight, is just that! Activities are varied and enthusiastically run, when Mum can be persuaded - but not pursued if she just wants to relax in her room. Mum is registered severely sight impaired and confused at times.
Excellent place, very homely. Care staff very good and attentive to residents. Many activities. Food good. Very clean.
My parents are both at this home. It’s small and homely which is perfect as both parents have dementia and need repetition. All the carers know my parents at a personal level so know their quirks and ways and how best to manage them. As there are only 20 residents they also get to know each other. They have weekly outings varying from Southend seafront to pub lunches, picnics in the park etc, regular entertainment and parties to celebrate their birthdays and sing songs. Dementia means they often forget about their trips, birthday parties and other events but their mood is certainly better. My dad is laughing every time I visit and very happy there.
A very welcoming home. Relaxed and a very happy home. All staff from carer to cleaner/cook and handyman are really kind helpful people. My father and mother are both so settled and happy. My father is very fond of a couple of the carers, his favourites, which suggests to me that they are very kind and patient with him. It is also so lovely that the home takes the residents out to the seafront and other little trips every month. Every resident is thrown a big party on their birthday! Brilliant.
