View Full Details of Meteor Rest HomeMy mother stayed at Meteor for the last two years of her life whilst suffering from dementia. (She died on 6th April 2024). The care at the home is exemplary. Mum was kept safe and clean and her needs both physically and emotionally were met by the home. The owners and their staff are first class and do their job with humanity, professionalism and with gentleness. We were always welcomed as a family when we visited and kept aware of any developments or concerns with regards to Mum's health. Mum clearly felt safe and all of the staff at the home knew Mum and her idiosyncrasies. They provided truly personal care which gave us, as a family, peace of mind. I cannot speak highly enough of this home and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone with a relative needing 24-hour care.
My friend was admitted to Meteor House because her dementia and poor eyesight meant she was unable to care for herself following the death of her partner. As her guardian, I was going to move her to a home closer and more convenient for me. However, she had settled in Meteor House very quickly and it was felt moving her could be detrimental to her well-being. It was a good choice. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The residents are not left lying in bed. She was always clean and her clothes co-ordinated, which is how she always was. I could visit her at any time without giving notice and the property was always clean, unlike other care homes I have visited. She had regular visits from a hairdresser and chiropodist organised by the home (payable by me) and I arranged for a beautician to visit her every couple of weeks. The Managers are always very welcoming and they and the home are to be recommended.
My mum was transferred to Meteor Rest Home from hospital 6 years ago after frequent falls and increased dementia in her assisted living home. During this 6 year period, I have been overwhelmed by the care and attention given to my mum from all the carers at Meteor. A good example is that prior to her move there, she experienced frequent urine infections and I can honestly say that she didn’t experience one again during her stay at Meteor. My mum had many forms of dementia and could be aggressive at times and we can have no complaints on the way the staff dealt with her and looked after her needs. My mum recently passed away at Meteor following a stroke and I feel it necessary to give an honest assessment of a very well-run care home. I have recommended Meteor to many of my friends who have elderly parents who may one day need what I regard as a very good care home.
Meteor care home is a very efficiently run care home. The staff work very hard to provide an excellent level of care to the residents. It is a family-run home and the staff who work there have built up a trusting relationship with the residents, meeting their every individual need. The food is home-cooked and the home provides a good variety of healthy meals. Every week they have activities which include singing, dancing, cards and bingo. The care home is very clean and secure with a lovely garden which the residents and visitors can both enjoy. Overall, I was very impressed with the care home and felt it was like a home from home for my dad.
My sister selected Meteor Rest House herself when she reached the age of 80. She was extremely happy there for almost 10 years and very well cared for in a family environment. She had her own very comfortable room with her own furniture and paintings, with a view of the garden which she enjoyed. Visitors were always made very welcome and when she could no longer go out, my husband and I were welcomed to join her and served a good hearty luncheon. I have very fond memories of being welcomed by the owner and his family and staff whenever we visited. I could always get information about my sister's well being over the phone or by email. She felt she was lucky to have such kind people take care of her when she needed that help. They were flexible in the care provided especially for ‘a cup of tea please’! There was always a trained nurse on duty who handed out any medications needed. I still keep in touch with the owner to see how he and his family are doing.
The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and safe in this difficult time. My relative always talks about how happy and comfortable she is too. It's clean and feels like home and one of the better homes in the area.
Caring owners and staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. This a care home that feels like home and where individual peoples needs and choices are catered for. The standards of hygiene are excellent, and the food is good - all freshly made on the premises. Before Covid 19, visitors were welcomed at any time with tea and biscuits always on offer. The staff were able to get my Mother walking again, and she received more rehabilitation here than in the local NHS rehab facility. I am very happy with my mother's care.
