View Full Details of Cedar HouseMum moved in early February. She has Alzheimer’s with a sub-type vascular which mainly affects her memory and some minor behaviour. She lived on her own for years where she often complained of loneliness and we had home care for the last eight months or so but after another visit to the hospital it was clear that Mum living on her own was no longer the safest option. The first couple of days were awful, Mum was scared and we, her children, had doubts and we were all anxious. None of the staff were. Everyone came to introduce themselves to find out how she liked to be addressed and started the discovery of what her other likes and dislikes were. Two weeks later and Mum seems to be thriving. She is walking much better, looking much better, getting involved in activities which Mum never does, making friends and gossiping about other residents. We have regular contact with the home, residents and staff and nothing seems too much trouble. So far, so very good.
This is a wonderful home that has the feeling of a warm and caring environment. On leaving my mum on the first day, l felt content knowing that she was in safe hands. The staff are kind and cannot do enough for the residents. My mum loves the food and to be fair it always looks appetising. I have visited at different times of the day and have been greeted with a friendly smile and on occasion offered a hot drink. Thank you Cedar House Care Home staff for being amazing.
My mum has been in Cedar House for a few years now. I chose the home because it was so bright and welcoming with lots of outside space. Residents are encouraged to bring in their own furniture making it a home from home. Mum has dementia so has changed a lot in her time there but the staff have been wonderfully supportive to her and me. Throughout the pandemic, the staff did a fantastic job and the precautions put in place have been and continue to be reassuring. Not living close means I can't visit as much as I would like to but when I do I am always greeted warmly by everyone. Thank you.
My mum is in this care home, I have to say I'm extremely overwhelmed with the care the staff give my mum. Staff are outstanding, every member plays an important role that makes the team fantastic. I could not ask better for my mum. The staff work so hard, they are angels. It's so clean and fresh, and I highly recommend this wonderful care home. Well done to the management and their staff.
My mum has been a resident here since August 2019 and I cannot fault the care she has received, especially this past year during the pandemic. The staff have remained caring and diligent throughout, working under extremely difficult and trying circumstances, adapting to the ever-changing rules and regulations, and keeping residents and staff safe while still allowing visitors access to their loved ones. A difficult balancing act.
My mum said to me she wanted to go in a care home, I had already heard of Cedar House but knew it was very popular and hard to get into, I took mum to look around and she felt at home straight away. Mum has now been in the home, coming up to three years. Whenever I visited Mum the staff could not be more welcoming and helpful. As for Mum and the care she was getting I couldn't ask for better. Up until the Covid-19, there was always something going on for the residents, keeping them entertained and stimulated, also there were events that the residents' families could join in with. I would like to say that through the pandemic the staff have gone above and beyond in keeping all the residents safe and well and leading as normal life for the residents as possible. Thank you to the management and all the staff for their hard work in these trying times.
Our mother has been a resident of Cedar House for a number of years. During that time we have found the staff to be caring and patient. They have dealt sensitively with our mother's changing needs. The meals are well cooked and varied and every effort is made to accommodate the requirements and preferences of residents. During the past difficult year, the staff have done their utmost to facilitate contact between residents and their families, adapting their procedures to reflect the changing phases of the pandemic. It has been reassuring to know that our mother is being well cared for.
I can’t quite believe how well my partner has settled into his new home. He has been a resident for nearly a year now, and always seems content when I visit, in fact, sometimes he can’t wait to get back to his friends. Obviously, things have not been normal this last year, it must have been very tough on the carers and management, with so much to deal with, but they have coped really well and adapted to the circumstances with compassion and common sense. I look forward to being able to visit normally, hopefully, it won’t be too long.
My mum has been in the home just over twelve months now, it has been a very hard year for us as contact has been very limited but now we can visit and take her out it’s very different. The staff are extremely nice and very accommodating, my mum loves them, they have activities going on every day. The home, what we can see, is spotlessly clean, my mum is very well-groomed, her hair is always done and nails. We like it because it is not a large care home. Mum always says the food is good, all home-cooked.
After a stay in hospital, Mum became a resident at Cedar House. It was during lockdown and we were full of anxieties but as soon as Mum entered she was cared for and felt comfortable. The manager discussed our anxieties and took the time to understand Mum’s specific needs. We were reassured and knew Mum was in the best possible place for this point in her life.
Mum had a fall at home in the middle of the Covid 19 Pandemic and was admitted to hospital. After a short time in hospital she was transferred to Cedar House for her recovery, where she has received the very best of care from the whole team for which we are truly grateful. The staff are so professional, kind and friendly. After being diagnosed with dementia mum decided that she wanted to stay at Cedar House and has remained happy and healthy this past year during these extremely challenging times. Mum loves her food and often tells us how good the meals are and if I visit on a Sunday, can usually smell lovely roast dinners being cooked. Thank you everyone at Cedar House.
Just a big thank you to all staff as its been a tough few months and you have all worked extremely hard. Keeping in contact via email is a good way when we cannot visit the home during these hard times. Well done.
My father is a resident in this home and has been for two years. The team are amazing and in these most trying times are doing a wonderful job, looking after him with the utmost care and keeping me informed of how he is doing on a daily basis.
