View Full Details of Cheybassa Lodge Rest HomeMy father moved into the care home late 2018 until 2020 during his time in the care home that the management spent time upgrading and improving the home. The hard-working staff were always polite and very helpful to the residents and their visitors. If visiting near mealtimes, we were always told that they would plate up a meal for us and cups of tea and coffee were always offered. Sometimes communication was a little broken and we were not told that my father needed certain items until we were at the home, whereas if we'd had a text or email we could've purchased these items and brought them over as sometimes the journey (especially during the summer) up to the care home can be a little adventurous as there is only one road to and from the island.
We would like to thank all the staff at Cheybassa Lodge for their care and friendship with Mum. Mum was a very independent lady and this was respected. Thankfully the Cheybassa family also recognised when Mum needed support. The carer role soon changed to a proper friendship with some of the staff and this was a real comfort to the family, especially in these strange times when visiting from family and friends has been limited. We are so thankful that the staff were with Mum when she passed on to be with Dad. Mum was made comfortable in her last moments and she was in the company of these special people. Even after Mum had died they cared for her, combing her hair and popping some of Mum's favourite perfume on her. They were in contact with us throughout this time and kept us updated in a sympathetic and caring way. An absolute pleasure knowing the Cheybassa family, such a professional, warm and caring atmosphere. Thank you all so much.
We moved my father to Cheybassa Lodge after the death of my mother, who had been his carer. He had previously had brief stays in other homes for respite care but had been unhappy there. In contrast to this my father settled quickly into life at Cheybassa Lodge and enjoyed his time there. Sadly his health failed and he passed away peacefully at Cheybassa Lodge, having received compassionate care from the staff to make his final days peaceful and comfortable. In contrast to the previous places my father had stayed in, the staff at Cheybassa Lodge made an effort to get to know my sister and me, as well as my father - it felt like they cared about the whole family, not just my dad. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and from my perspective, it was a pleasure to phone the home for a progress update - it felt more like ringing other family members for a chat. I’d recommend Cheybassa Lodge as a friendly, caring place, with a personal touch.
The care home manager is communicative, helpful and considerate in all respects, and balances well her duty of care to the residents with the wishes of their family members and visitors. The home is small, intimate, cosy and the staff are excellent in their care of the residents, with great consideration shown to their general health and mental health.
The staff and management were very welcoming and supportive when my mother arrived, introducing her to all the resident. Having lived independently until she was 99, this was a big change, but she adapted well, joining in with activities and eating well. Her room was one of the smaller ones, but she had all her pictures on the walls and trinkets dotted around the room. She found it very comfortable. Visitors were always welcomed and given tea or coffee, and the staff took Mum out if I was away. Cheybassa is in an excellent location. Mum's mediation and care were well managed, and the staff cared for her right to the end of her life in a very caring and understanding way.
A very cosy, charming rest home. Nothing is too much trouble for the residents, staff very obliging, will go to any length to please and help residents with their daily needs. Food is never any trouble and the staff will cook a different meal if required daily. Very happy with the care provided for my Aunt.
My 97-year-old aunt spent the last year of her life at Cheybassa Lodge, a year that she greatly enjoyed. She had lived at her previous house for 55 years but when she died she considered Cheybassa to be her home. She was shown immense kindness and treated with great dignity by the staff, something which continued right up to her death. Living some way from the home, and not being able to visit frequently, it was very reassuring to know that she was being cared for so well. I consider that my aunt was very fortunate to have spent her last months at Cheybassa Lodge.
Cheybassa Lodge provided a home from home environment in which my mother felt safe and thrived. She enjoyed the food and individualised support in respite and as a resident that enabled her to relax and take part in activities. The home is extremely clean and welcoming to visitors with bedrooms that are well kept. The staff showed genuine affection and personalised care when tending to her needs. I am grateful to have found a place for my mother to live, which provided the levels of medical support, personal care and companionship that she needed.
The caregivers are superb and mix friendly and professional in just the right balance. The accommodation is clean and spacious. The food and things going on in general, keep my husband busy and active. When needed they look after and support him very well.
I was very impressed with the speed in which they responded to our needs at such short notice. My husband was treated with kindness and compassion which helped him to settle very quickly. I wouldn't hesitate to bring him to stay again.
I am very pleased with the care that my father has received at Cheybassa Lodge. Dad has been very upset that he has had to give up his home and move into care. The first thing the manager said to dad was "welcome home" which I felt was wonderful. The staff are compassionate and really care.
Cheybassa Lodge is a small home with maximum 18 residents, easy for Mum to get to know them by their first names. Has a lovely view of the sea from her bedroom window, which she loves. Settling in well, even started to write again and do her knitting.
Since my husband has been at Cheybassa Lodge, all staff and management have been very helpful with all aspects of his care.
A very good care home excellent staff, manager, owner and social care. We can not fault the service and care.
My mother has resided here for over 6 years and in all that time she has been treated to kindness and love and care of the highest order. The home is comfortable and homely with fun and laughter from the wonderful care staff.
We are very happy indeed that my mother-in-law is living here and she has settled and mixes well. She enjoys her food and always says she is so well looked after, warm and cosy. There is always entertainment and lovely caring staff and management.
Our experience here has been very good. The facilities are clean, modern and are accessible. The care is very good, hands on, communication is excellent as to the care of the resident. All residents are stimulated and kept mobilised, and yearly events and special occasions are marked appropriately. Care for the residents' every day needs are met well and staff are flexible and caring in their attitudes to the residents.
The staff at Cheybassa Lodge have been helpful from the start. There is good communication and I feel I have been kept well informed. The home has a small, friendly feel to it and my father is settling in well. All meals look so good and are made with fresh ingredients.
Extremely well run, small private care home with staff that are friendly, cheerful and caring. Mum has a lovely, large room with views over the sea at a very reasonable price and has settled well in only a few weeks.
