View Full Details of Heatherside Rest HomeMy mother-in-law has now been at Heatherside Rest Home for 8 months. She has dementia and the care and activities at Heatherside have helped her no end. The staff are lovely and so patient with her. We live locally so go in everyday and at different times of day and whenever we go in the home is welcoming and she is well looked after.
A very well managed care home, with professional staff who care for the residents. We would have no reservations recommending this residential care home to anyone seeking residential care for themselves or a family member.
Sadly our mother passed away on the 2nd January, she was so well looked after by the staff, they are very caring and attentive. I would rather not pick anyone out, they were all fabulous. I can recommend this home without reservation. Our mother was there for three years, she was very happy and settled, despite her dementia. Although she was very passive there was a lot of work for them to do. One point worth mentioning, is the substantial renovation and upgrades which have made the home even more comfortable.
There is a calm, friendly atmosphere when one enters this home. The residents are encouraged to sit in the lounge during the day where there is always something going on. The activities provided are brilliant. The personal cleanliness of the residents is very good. The laundry situation could do with attention, e.g system for sorting clothes, (missing items). There is a lovely garden to walk round or sit.
I first wrote a review when Mum had been at Heatherside for 9 months. She has now been there for nearly 2 years. There is a lady of 108 years of age so they obviously look after the residents well! What particularly impresses me are the wide range of stimulating activities provided by a dedicated, enthusiastic team of activity coordinators and the lovely extensive grounds full of flowers and shrubs. Lots of wildlife (eg pheasants, ducks, deer, squirrels and many birds) visit to provide added interest. Many of the staff have worked at Heatherside for many years. They are very caring and know all the residents by name. Although it is an old building it is constantly being renovated to keep it fresh. Only problem is that parking can sometimes be difficult if lots of visitors at the same time as delivery vans.
Great caring people, my mother is here today because of this home, you are always welcome. I always look forward to seeing my mother and the carers at this home. The food is amazing, and they have lots of activities. And they have a lovely garden, which they have lots of fairs. Thank you.
The staff at Heatherside are professional and friendly. They tend to all mum's needs, no matter what that is. Heatherside is a lovely place and a very pleasant atmosphere. it's a happy place to be. They provide entertainment for the residents, they're kind and caring. And will sort anything out for you. Nothing is too much trouble. The manager is an incredible lady! Thank you so much HEATHERSIDE for EVERYTHING.
Since coming to live at the home earlier this year after spending a spell in hospital Nan is like a different person. She has gone from struggling with her dementia, not wanting to eat, drink or participate in anything to doing a 180°. She settled in and made friends quickly. Her appetite returned and she was always telling us how lovely the meals are. She was encouraged to take part in the activities and now happily joins in willingly. Her sense of humour has returned and it feels like we have our nan back. The staff at the home are fabulous and you just know they really care. We have just attended the family fete day and it was fantastic. The garden was decorated with flags, there were stalls, food, drink and even a singer! Nan had a lovely afternoon with her friends and family. Would 100% recommend this care home.
I feel reassured my mum is receiving the best care at Heatherside. Staff are approachable when I have questions regarding any of my mum's health and care needs for her dementia. The food prepared onsite is great. Always smells good when passing the kitchen. It's a relief knowing residents can have their optician and dental check-ups carried out onsite. Lovely entertainment and daily activities are provided encouraging and supporting all to participate. Thoughtful care staff, who take time to do the little things we take for granted, like cleaning resident's glasses. The ladies getting pamper days is so lovely. Special thanks to all of the staff who care for my mum.
My mother moved into Heatherside in October 23 after spending the last few years in sheltered accommodation in Basingstoke. From the very beginning, we were so impressed with the atmosphere and philosophy of the home. They did so much for their guests, to help with both their physical well-being and also to stimulate them mentally. The main lounge area was bright and airy, and Mum's room was cosy and had everything she needed. The staff were so attentive, and communication from the home was excellent, particularly as Mum's health began to decline this year. Both the managers there definitely go the extra mile in looking after both the family of their residents and the residents themself. Nothing is too much trouble. Unfortunately, Mum passed away in mid-February, and my only regret was that she had such a short time at Heatherside. It was a very happy place for her.
Heatherside has been my mother’s home for over 5 years. It has always been, and still is, like one big family. The staff and residents are wonderful. A lovely lounge looking out onto the gardens and activities for residents to join in with, if they wish. The grounds are stunning with a lovely area to sit out when it’s warmer. You couldn’t wish for a lovelier home.
Mum has been a resident at Heatherside for two and a half years and is very content. All the staff are lovely and look after her very well. By choice, she spends almost all her time in her comfortable room. However, the home has a bright, spacious lounge and cosy dining room that many of the residents use daily. All her care needs are met (although I do top up her fruit but I suspect that's because she doesn't think to ask for more). It took a little while to learn the 'system' at the home. For example, Mum didn't know for some time that she could ask for a larger meal. Perhaps a 'welcome' leaflet with this sort of information would be useful.
Fairly satisfied with the service. Staff do their best to provide a happy comfortable experience, they are all concerned with the well-being of the residents. They make an effort to include and involve residents in a variety of activities. Mum enjoys the food and the staff make great efforts to involve her in entertainment. All residents appear to be happy.
My brother has been a resident for a month, he has settled in very well, all staff are very good at what they do, very attentive and kind to him, the home is very clean, he is very pleased with the food that he has had, nice size room, on the whole, we are very pleased.
I find the home a very nice place to visit. It is very warm and friendly. My Mother-in-law has been here for 5 months and has settled in really well. She loves the company and enjoys the food. The family feel better knowing she is safe and well looked after.
Mum is so much happier and less anxious since she moved to Heatherside. The staff and carers are a wonderful bunch of people who genuinely care about the residents and do their best. When Mum was ill recently the carers went above and beyond to really look after her and help her recover. There is a friendly and sociable atmosphere at Heatherside, most of the residents can usually be found in the light and airy open-plan lounge area where they can get involved in organised activities, listen to music or often just chat together.
Heatherside do such a fantastic job of looking after my grandmother. She has resided here for numerous years and the staff are always so bubbly, friendly and caring. The care and support she receives as a resident is more than we could have hoped for as a family. Thank you!
Heatherside Rest Home has always given excellent service for my mother. The care manager and all staff over eighteen years have been superb. Any difficult situations have always been handled with full professionalism and dignity.
I could be wrong but it appears this home only works five days a week, Monday to Friday. Management is absent weekends. I would suggest a rolling process of five days on in seven where senior managers could be available weekends. If this became available you would get an immediate answer. Now three to five days minimum.
My Mum has lived at Heatherside for two years. I am very pleased with her care and information that I receive from the home. The food looks very tasty and well presented. I would recommend Heatherside.
