View Full Details of Oaklands Rest HomeHave a spacious room with all this I need, I am cared for well. The staff are always there to help me and are happy. The food is really nice, there are activities which I can join if I wish to. I can have visitors whenever I wish and also go out with family. We do exercises and have haircuts. All my needs are met perfectly. I feel like I am part of an extended family here.
After suffering a transient ischemic attack (TIA), my 90-year-old mum needed some rest and recuperation. Mum had a very friendly, caring and professional respite stay at Oaklands. She had always insisted that she never wanted to stay in a Care Home, but thankfully she loved it. Thank you all.
We are always made to feel very welcome when we visit. It is obvious that all the residents are very happy and are cared for extremely well. There are many varied activities arranged for residents and visitors are very welcome to join in. A very happy place, where everyone is treated with respect and dignity.
Oaklands Rest Home is a very warm friendly welcoming home. It is always such a pleasure to visit my friend who has been cared for at Oaklands for two years. The staff are wonderful and all the residents are so content and well looked after.
This is a really lovely rest home and we are so pleased we found it. My mum absolutely loves living here after some initial misgivings (before she went). The staff make all the difference and could not be nicer.
A lovely home that has a wide range of activities for the residents. Staff are always very helpful and keep me informed of my Aunt's well-being. All residents are treated as individuals and their needs considered.
It was a difficult decision to place Mum in a rest home but we are glad we chose Oaklands. The staff are always very warm and welcoming whenever I visit and they are very patient and attentive with Mum. There are loads of activities to do and they do something different every day to keep the residents entertained. Mum has settled in well and has built great relationships with most of the staff. My only negative comment would be that some of Mum's clothing has gone missing while being washed although they are all correctly labelled and Mum often has items of clothing in her wardrobe which aren't hers. Overall we are really happy with Oaklands and would recommend the home to anyone.
Staff always go above and beyond. Great range of activities. Mum is happy and well looked after. I was nervous about Mum moving into residential care, she has been there 8 months and is thriving. I also always feel welcome.
My father has been at Oaklands since my mum died. He has been there over three years and he is very settled there and well looked after. He loves the staff and every time I visit him I am welcomed by the staff and always reassured if I have any worries. I can't express enough the relief I feel at knowing my father is safe and being cared for. I used to worry about him so much and now I have peace of mind and I visit the home regularly. The staff love him and often support Dad when planning my next visit. The staff are often the people I speak to. They are kind, and thoughtful and update me regularly about any changes or updates. Dad loves the activities and enjoys his walks with the staff. He looks physically well and presents as comfortable and content. I could not ask for more. Please don't go changing. I love the staff. It is a stable team and I have been working closely with them for the last three years. The staff are awesome and I am happy with the facilities.
We could not have found a better home for Mum to move into. Everyone there has gone above and beyond to welcome her, and despite Mum having some complex needs, this did not matter to the wonderful caring staff there, who really do make you feel like family. We are so happy that we chose Oaklands, they have gone out of their way to support both my mum and us as a family and it is such a relief knowing she is in safe hands and we don't need to worry about her getting the care she needs.
Mum has been at Oaklands for over a year, and her care has been exceptional. There have been some difficult periods in her health and the manager and the staff have adapted her plan of care to meet these changes promptly. Knowing that we can contact the home at any point to get an update or, when needed discuss any worries with Mia has been very reassuring. The atmosphere in the homes is warm and the care provided is offered with kindness. The staff work tirelessly to keep the environment safe, fresh and clean despite the challenges of group living. Food and refreshments are wonderful and tailored to meet each person's needs flexibly. Well, done to the activity people who provide lots of interesting opportunities for people. Mum is happy and that is the best we can ask for, thank you.
We were worried when Mum had to move into a care home but Oaklands has exceeded our expectations in every way. Mum hasn't been this happy in many years and we feel so much better knowing the staff take care of her every need. I can't recommend them highly enough.
The staff are very caring and attentive. They all display a happy demeanour in their work which generates a family-like atmosphere in the home.
My mum had cared for my stepdad for several years after his dementia diagnosis. She then became unwell herself and it became necessary to put Dad into care. An extremely hard and heartbreaking decision. The day we took Dad to the home was unbelievably hard but, the warm welcome and gentle distractions when it was time to go made a very sad day more bearable. The home has a nice family feel, very warm and the rooms bright and clean. Each person has their own colourful front door complete with a knocker and letter box making it feel like a proper house. A lovely idea. They seem to be busy every day with something new for the residents. We are under no pressure to visit Dad, which is difficult and potentially triggering for Dad and they assured us they would look after him as if he was their own family and I believe they will. Our thanks go to the dedicated team for caring for Dad and helping us see a light at the end of a very dark tunnel after a stressful few years.
Mum took a little while to settle in but with gentle persuasion and great care, she is now quite happy and enjoys all the activities. All the staff are lovely and are very kind to us as well as Mum.
I visited my aunt today and found the experience excellent. Although I was only there for a short while as my aunt was in bed, the staff were so friendly. My aunt could not speak highly enough of them and their care. I look forward to my next visit.
Mum became a resident of Oaklands on 21/12/23. It was a trying time for all the family, but with the kindness and caring, the staff at Oaklands gave, it has made things a lot easier for us.
The environment in Oaklands is always warm and welcoming. All the staff do their utmost to make sure my mother is happy and cared for. I couldn't be with her at Christmas, but felt happy knowing that she was being cared for and celebrating the festivities as we were. Oaklands provides an excellent service, and I am very grateful for this. Thank you.
Wonderful service during a distressing time. I would definitely recommend the home as a place for your loved one.
General: Interaction with staff - excellent, family always receives a warm welcome and kept informed of Mum's needs, health concerns, falls etc. Food - excellent. Activities - good. Parking - satisfactory. General ambience - friendly, warm and welcoming. Mislaid clothing/labelling of clothing - of concern; being addressed. Exterior: A little depressing; side entrance needs updating; doorway would benefit from a porch, smoking area's seats are uncomfortable and heavy to move around; planters need regular attention with dead/dying plants removed and replaced. Grounds: Bland; residents may benefit from more interesting outlooks (ornamental trees, shrubs). Entrance needs better upkeep with more attractive planting. The planted boxes under the pergola are overgrown and neglected. Residents' rooms should not look out on any untended/unplanted areas, rubbish piles/broken ladders etc. Interior: Public spaces - worn and need updating (apparently underway). Curtains - rail fixings (all curtain hooks etc) need to be in place and tie-backs need to be utilised for neatness, in public rooms and residents' rooms (small details, negative impact at present). Excursions - much appreciated; limited (but expensive). Quiet/private areas - difficult to find for family visits (apart from resident's own room). Two front rooms - crowded; difficult to manoeuvre walking frames etc. Overall: A generally comfortable rest home in need of more TLC.
