Since Mum has been at Purbeck House, I feel that she feels safe. The
staff are amazing, although run off their feet. When they’re not busy
I’ve seen them sitting with the residents, but they don’t seem to
interact/talk to them very much. Mum seems to be well cared for and
settled. They have an outside garden that I feel isn’t very
user-friendly. There are steps with no handrail to get to the garden,
and I don’t feel that they are encouraged to use it often. The steps in
the house to the dining area are also a trip hazard as many like Mum
have walkers to help them get around. The atmosphere is friendly, but
the residents seem to be a mixed bag of needs, which the staff manage
really well, but I think it’s hard for the residents who don’t have
dementia, to fully understand those that do. Maybe use different areas
for different needs? Overall, I would say that it has a warm, family
run feel to it.
