View Full Details of Thornfield Care HomeMy partner was taken poorly and was admitted to hospital. The assistant manager notified me straight away and I was kept informed all the time the staff even visited the hospital on his return. They really couldn't have done more to keep him comfortable and even got him a specially adapted chair and the ongoing care has been superb.
Thornfield not only provide our mum with fantastic care but they are there for us too, patiently answering all our questions and giving us peace and reassurance. Management and care staff are professional, attentive, and genuinely lovely caring people. Rooms are kept spotlessly clean and the food is good. More importantly, Mum is very happy and thinks this is her home. I would not hesitate to recommend it to others.
I just wanted to write a few words to show my appreciation to Thornfield Care Home and all its wonderful staff. My mum has been a resident there for nearly nine years and at 97 years of age, is still happily being looked after and cared for. The kindness and attention from the staff, that is and always has been shown to the residents, is a lovely thing to see, also from the view of a visitor, you are made to feel part of the family because it does feel like home. I always try and thank the staff for all they do, but felt I would like to put it into words, because they are the loveliest, most caring and kind people.
My aunt has mixed dementia and has been a happy and content resident at Thornfield Care Home for over three years. Having lived in Lymington for 35 years, our choice of Thornfield was based on very positive feedback from neighbours and friends of my aunt and from research carried out by my aunt's senior care worker who found excellent reviews of Thornfield both online and from her Hampshire social care colleagues. The highly personal and committed care provided from day one by all the staff at Thornfield ensured that my aunt quickly became more confident and relaxed within her new surroundings. The past year has been the happiest I have seen her and she has become very friendly with another resident. Thornfield is a particularly homely and friendly care home with a large garden my aunt loves and walks each day. Nothing is too much trouble for the manager and her friendly staff who provide a very genuine and caring commitment to all residents at Thornfield Care Home. Thank you.
My husband has been a resident at Thornfield Care Home since October 2017 and has received the very best of care. He is always well dressed and presented and is very happy there. There are always staff on hand to answer any questions I may have and they are such lovely, caring people.
My mum went into a rapid decline when she showed signs of dementia and after it became apparent we couldn't meet her needs we took her to Thornfield Care Home. After a month at the home, mum's mental capacity improved a lot and her physical condition too. She quickly made friends at the home and has a wonderful bond with the staff. She has told me she is very happy which says it all. The owner and staff are amazing. They are so kind, patient and caring. They always have a smile for everyone and my mum is beautifully cared for. I cannot speak highly enough of them. They have given my mum quality of life again. The atmosphere at the home is always warm and welcoming, there is a lovely garden to walk in and whenever I visit my mum, there is a lovely calmness there and I am always given a warm welcome. I am so happy that I chose Thornfield for my mum. The care and attention she receives I feel is second to none.
When Mum moved into Thornfield Care Home she was made to feel welcome by the manager and the team, she loves the entertainment there and enjoys the walk around the garden, always made to feel welcome when we go to visit her.
My mum has been at Thornfields since March 2021. She settled in very quickly and really loves walks around the lovely long garden. All of the staff are very friendly and caring. Whenever I visit (which is 3-4 times a week) I am always made to feel very welcome. I can see first-hand how they look after all the residents. The care home is very clean and tidy and mum seems very happy there. I can’t thank the staff and management enough for all they do.
I was so glad that we were able to find such a great care home for my dad. It is always a very difficult time for the family when these decisions have to be made and we were supported all the way by the Manager and staff at Thornfields. The staff are not only respectful and kind to the residents but they are also mindful of how the family are feeling. Our visits to the home are always welcomed. It is a pleasure to visit and spend quality time with dad and I always come away feeling reassured that the greatest care is taken and that he is happy in his new home.
Well what can I say, I had to make the sad decision for my husband to go into a care home nearly a year ago now. I'm not sad any more, he is in such good hands. The staff are all kind and caring and my dear husband is as happy as he could possibly be. He was taken into hospital and went into Thornfields on discharge. He has improved in all ways under the excellent care he is being given. He has Alzheimer's and everyone is so patient and understanding. He brought tears to my eyes when he told me he was very happy and comfortable here, that coming from someone who has lost the ability to make a sensible sentence was music to my ears and talking of music they have entertainers and all the residents join in either singing or dancing or indeed both. It's a happy home. Well done Thornfields.
Due to my Father's care needs becoming too demanding for my Mother to cope with, it was necessary to find somewhere that could take care of Dad properly and reduce the burden on Mum looking after him whilst also dealing with her own health issues. We have all been really impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of the owner and all the staff. Dad settled in very quickly and Mum started to relax more in the knowledge that Dad was being properly looked after. I cannot speak too highly of everyone at Thornfields and the way they have looked after Dad and also the way all visitors, (of which he has many as all family is local) are treated so welcomingly and friendly. Thornfields is a smaller care home than some others in the area but the friendly, more personal way it is run shines through. I would not hesitate to recommend Thornfields to anyone.
My Dad has been at Thornfields for just over a year now. It was a hard transition for him, but everyone looked after him well. They were kind, patient and tolerant and they transitioned a person who never wanted to ever be in a home, to someone who recovered from his fall, who was happy in his environment and gets stronger each day. I am hugely grateful and appreciative of the wonderful care my dad has been given.
My dad has been at Thornfields since April this year, and he has settled in very well, thanks to the lovely caring and kind people who work there. It wasn't an easy decision to place him in a care home, but my mum, myself and our family were finding it increasingly difficult to care for my dad's complex needs at home. The management and the care team at Thornfields have all been truly wonderful, professional and kind, making my dad's transition into a fulltime care home a less painful experience. They look after my dad so well, and always make us feel very welcome when we visit, with cups of tea and biscuits, and understanding my dad's needs. Thornfields has a warm, comfortable and homely atmosphere, with a beautiful mature garden to sit or wander through with my dad, quiet and calming. I highly recommend this home to anyone who is reading this and are finding themselves in our position.
We had a very positive experience of the home, the owners and their team were very kind to my mother and always welcoming when we visited as one of her family or a friend who visited most days. Nothing was to much trouble. The owner takes an active role in caring for the residents, her husband is also actively involved with the home and the residents, which I thought was nice to see. They always have a smile and they are genuinely caring people. My mother's end of life care was excellent and the support we received after her passing was demonstrated through the empathy shown.
Very comfortable environment - nothing is too much trouble with great professionalism. Home from home. Living in Ireland and only able to visit my sister I am always comfortable leaving her at Thornfields when I return to Ireland as I know she is safe and happy and well cared for.
I am happy visiting my nan seeing that she is happy and well looked after. I never worry when leaving her as I know she is in good hands and will be OK.
