View Full Details of St Vincent House Residential HomeMy husband has lived in St Vincent House for six months now and from day one he has been cared for with love, dignity and compassion. I have visited him during every part of the day and into the night and have witnessed their continuity of this care. The management and staff were so supportive to to me and helped both of us to adjust to our new lives, now we are apart, and I cannot thank them enough. The activities they provide is wonderful, with entertainers coming in, trip outs and celebrations marking all events. The team are excellent I would highly recommend.
My Mother is coming to the end of her life after a stroke at 91. The staff are very respectful and thoughtful and keep me updated daily. The management was very thoughtful with financial matters and was very flexible. If anyone asks me what to look out for in a home for their loved one I say ask how long the staff have been there as I have found great comfort as the staff at St Vincent's have been there all of the 5 years of my Mithers stay and some have been there considerably longer.
When my mum went into St Vincent's in August 2022 it was an agonising time for us, as her daughter I felt like I was letting her down. But thanks to the amazing staff my fears were soon alleviated, my mum was made to feel like she was in her own home, her room was full of her bits and pieces and very homely. The care she was given was excellent and the staff all knew her and treated her with such kindness. They also treated me with compassion and kindness obviously realising what an awful time I was having in the beginning. My mum settled so well which amazed me, as when she first went in she was shy, depressed and really not enjoying life. The transformation was incredible, suddenly I had my mum back, a very happy lady with a heart of gold and a wonderful smile. She joined in with all of the activities, loved singing and dancing, the staff were brilliant at organising so many outings and activities. I can't thank them enough for everything.
St Vincent House Residential Home is exceptional. The staff are all lovely, kind and very helpful. The food is excellent and my husband is very settled and happy thee. I love that at Christmas and Easter etc. they make such an effort. My husband has limited mobility so they regularly take him out in a wheelchair. They also have a lovely garden and it's a pleasure to sit out there - weather permitting. My two sons and I always leave him knowing he is happy and safe.
My mother spent 18 very happy months in St Vincent's and I never regretted my choice of residential home for her. From the outset the staff were helpful and friendly, doing all they could to help Mum settle in, including allowing her pictures and ornaments from home. St Vincent's is a relatively small home and so the staff all knew Mum well and developed good relationships with us as a family. Communication was always excellent and the accounts team were very understanding when there a few problems with the local authority funding that we needed whilst the family home was sold. When Mum's care needs changed a different room with a special bed was found quickly and the staff moved Mum's belongings for us. Sadly Mum passed away quite suddenly, but I was given help to clear her room and was very touched by the card and the photos of Mum during happier times at the home that I was given. The offer of staff to be present when the funeral cortege went past was also very moving.
One of the most difficult things to do is accept and find a residential care home for your relative. As a family we spent a long time looking for the right place. I found St Vincent's staff very sympathetic, helpful and always put the care of my relative first but always there for the family giving great support. The staff spend time with each resident working for the resident to feel comfortable. Food is good, plenty of snacks available and the room is always clean.
St Vincent House is genuinely an exceptional residential care home that I can't recommend enough. I selected this care home for my father after he had a fall at home and a lengthy stay in hospital, which resulted in him being unable to return home. Having viewed several care homes in Gosport, and having had a bad previous experience at a different care home, I have been incredibly impressed at everything about the home and the way it is run. Dad had a wonderful welcome at the home and the friendly, caring, loving staff treated him and the other residents and visitors with respect and compassion. They really did the best for Dad in his time of need. Sadly, Dad passed away in hospital during early October and lots of the staff turned out and showed their respects when the funeral cortege went past the home, this was very touching for Dad's family. In addition, they helped me clear his room and the management team refunded his overpaid care fees very quickly without any fuss.
My mum has been in St Vincent Care Home since the end of July. She was admitted to the hospital two weeks ago, and the care home was absolutely brilliant at informing me. The welcome they gave my mum on her return home was so lovely. My mum was so touched by it; it meant so much to her. Whenever I go in, the staff are fabulous; they are so friendly, and I can see they really care. I am over the moon that I was able to get my mum into this care home. I cannot thank the staff enough; they are absolutely brilliant.
I would like to thank the staff for making my mum's 100th birthday so enjoyable. The room was decorated, and she looked lovely with her hair, make-up and nails done. We really enjoyed the time with her and all the help from the staff. Could not have asked for more.
My dad was displaying very challenging behaviour, and he and myself were treated with kindness, respect and dignity throughout the experience. I will always be grateful for the kindness of everyone there.
Kind, caring and friendly staff. Perfect place.
Amazing staff that go above and beyond. Could not have found a better home for my dad, who really struggled to settle in anywhere; they never gave up on him. He is now happy and well looked after. I would 100% recommend it.
My father and I understand and are grateful for the stringent Covid 19 testing of residents, staff and visitors, in order to keep all safe. We also understand staff well-being is as important as for that of the residents. My father is always grateful for the welcome care he receives, he has come to know staff by name and has full mental capacity, he has formed working relationships which sustain him and are important to him on a daily basis, he cares about the well-being of staff. I am especially grateful for the impressive intervention on Saturday evening when my father was feeling unwell, a nurse arriving at just gone midnight with a duty doctor on the screen, can’t get better than that! Happily, it is nothing serious, I appreciate the attention to detail. The Management Team and the Staff are of the excellent category. They have excelled over the long and unexpected period of time under Covid 19 conditions in keeping all residents safe, in the St Vincent House family. Thank you.
My mother, who has dementia, was admitted here on 6th April having recently undergone a repair to her broken hip. The transformation from the hospital to this home was completed by staff at St Vincent, all done smoothly and efficiently. It would appear (from the few times I have met my mother) that she is quite contented and very happy in here walking about with her Zimmer frame, she likes her room, the food is good (so she tells me). Due to Covid-19 restrictions, obviously, I haven't been able to visit the inside of the home and see her room, however, in the photos I've seen the home is bright and airy. I've never had a problem with communication, emails are always answered promptly and phone call requests are always adhered to. They allow me to speak to her on the phone if visits are all booked. She has gained weight since being admitted here. She is encouraged to join in the planned activities. The staff informed me she is a "delight and doing well". I'm happy, she's safe 24/7 and well cared for.
Dad has been living at the home for a while; he feels safe there. The care and support he gets from everyone are good, and the manager is very responsive. The home has a lovely conservatory and garden; Dad loves sitting there watching the wildlife. Visiting Dad has been difficult, however, the home has supported us as a family making sure we see him as often as possible.
My mum has been a resident at St Vincent for over 3-years now, and in that time, has been very well cared for. The staff are caring, helpful and friendly, and the manager communicates regularly with me to discuss Mum's needs or changes in care requirements. I would be happy to recommend the home to anyone.
Have only been in the room to visits, so have to judge everywhere by that one room; however, it's lovely. Can't judge the food etc, as I don't go in.
We chose St Vincent House as a care home for my father as our research had highlighted that they are specialists in dementia care. He became a resident in June 20 when he was in the final stages of Alzheimer's Disease. The COVID restrictions meant I could not enter the home, despite this, I feel every effort was made by the staff to support my father and provide the care he required. The staff did their utmost to facilitate visits within the Government guidelines, and we were able to see him once a week through the window. During these visits, the staff were always attentive and caring, and my father responded well to them. My father sadly passed away in August, thankfully the staff understood the situation and we were admitted to a specially prepared room to say our goodbyes to him. Although my father's stay at St Vincent's was only for a couple of months, I would not hesitate to recommend them; they are caring, considerate, approachable and professional.
My mother is now 91 and is extremely frail with multiple complex health conditions. After 8 years of caring for in her own home I was unable to continue, yet understandably nervous about moving her into a care home. I'm pleased to say that my fears were unfounded, as the standard of care that she has received at St Vincent's House has been of the highest order, despite the most trying of circumstances imposed by the COVID pandemic. To be honest, her life expectancy was only a few months at the start of her stay, but she is about to celebrate her first anniversary there, and is very settled and content. I cannot recommend the facilities and care here highly enough, and would like to thank all the management and staff for their ongoing love and devotion to their resident's needs.
There was nothing too much trouble. The staff are exceptional at this most difficult time, unable to comment on the running of the home, but my mum's final days were dignified and the staff at St Vincent showed how much they thought of mum, gave her hugs when I could not. Thank you to the senior staff for the last day, forever grateful.
