View Full Details of White Lodge Care HomeMy husband has been in White Lodge for about six months. He was very agitated with vascular dementia when he went to White Lodge from hospital, because of good care he settled down and I visited regularly and was always pleased with the respect, careful care and attention he received. He had a chest infection in December and was put on an end-of-life assessment. My rather large family and myself visited for long hours, the staff cared for us as well, providing lunches and many cups of tea. He died very peacefully with me holding his hand and I as well himself realised what special people White Lodge provided for us.
White Lodge staff are warm, welcoming, friendly, caring and understanding of their resident's individual needs. The management are very approachable. They do activities daily as a group or individually, games, arts and crafts, walks etc. The food is of good quality as well as varied. The rooms are always clean. All the residents are looked after with dignity and respect. The gardens are beautiful open spaces and encourage to use especially in the nice warmer weather. They give us peace of mind, which is priceless. So pleased we found White Lodge. On a personal note. Our parents had very different individual needs. They moved in together in March 2023. One with dementia and other old-age mobility issues. Since our dad's passing in July 2023 (which they dealt with fantastically) they have been amazing with our mum. Dementia is a cruel disease and plays havoc with her memory. We appreciate all they do on a daily basis to help our mum adjust. They have become a part of our extended family.
The management is absolutely lovely, and making a real effort to make sure the residents are happy and going out and doing things. It’s good that hairdressers and manicurists come into the home to look after the residents.
Thought I would share my experiences to date, as my father has recently moved to White Lodge as a resident. All the staff are just fantastic and really put the meaning of care into work, not just words as in other places I have experienced. Their patience and attitude to residents is exceptional, from managers to cooks and one that the owners should be very proud of, as their attention to detail goes that extra mile. My dad had only been at the home a matter of weeks and has already been taken out for walks and even a Christmas dinner in a fantastic country pub with a great food reputation with the use of a mini bus, which was better than most Christmas staff parties I have been too. I just can’t thank everyone enough for making him feel like he is home for the first time in many years. We as a family appreciate your kind support.
I am always impressed by the care and attention my mum receives. All the staff are friendly and caring and try to ensure that my mum has what she needs and that she feels cared for. She does not always join in with all the activities that are offered, but that is her choice. She has engaged with several things though and has taken up knitting again and that is great for her - keeping her hands more supple and knitting items for different people, and that has given her a purpose. The outing for a Christmas lunch was a really lovely idea and was enjoyed. I was most impressed with the individual present she received from the home on Christmas Day and that reveals the care the staff take with all their residents. I know that if there are concerns with my Mum’s health the home will contact me. She has had a number of visitors and many have contacted me afterwards to say how well she looks and well cared for. I am very grateful to all the staff for the care they give.
Following a serious fall at home last year, I looked at many care homes as my mother could no longer live alone. Mum has settled very well, and the staff are kind, caring and patient. I can visit her any time of day, and I spent Christmas at white Lodge to be with Mum. We had a lovely time. White Lodge pulled out all the stops; the food and drink were excellent, presents for all residents and a very happy and joyful atmosphere. The staff are amazing, and I thank them for all they do, as I know it is not always easy.
I cannot fault the care my husband receives from all of the staff at White Lodge. The staff are always very professional and equally very caring and friendly. Any medical support ie district nurse or GP needed is actioned immediately, all health needs are kept on top of. The food is excellent with all dietary variations catered for. I'm kept totally involved with my husband's care as we are treated as a couple. There is a lovely atmosphere in the home. I would not wish for my husband to be anywhere else.
My husband is being cared for in a caring and dignified manner, the staff are absolutely wonderful to him and have become like good friends. The atmosphere at White Lodge is like being in your own home, bright decor and the food is fresh and homemade. The south-facing gardens are a joy to sit in for fresh air. I praise all the staff and can't thank them enough. My husband feels safe and looked after.
My Brother has moved into White Lodge Care Home recently. My brother who is 42 with Parkinson’s has been in a different care home for the last 3 years, after his needs changed he decided the home he was in couldn’t cope with his needs. We viewed White Lodge and a couple of other homes and he decided White Lodge was the one for him. The whole process has been so easy with the management and staff team helping with the move, he got to pick the colour of his room and this was freshly painted for his arrival. Since he has been at White Lodge he has said the staff have helped with everything he has needed and the food is great. Loves the fact that entertainment is provided every weekday and that he is welcome to go into the grounds when he feels. As this is still early days, I will update my review in a few months. Well done to all the team at White Lodge for making him so welcome and clearly for what you are providing in the Home. Definitely, a home that is up and coming
My Dad has been at White Lodge Care Home since August 2022 and has been through some challenging health issues. The staff and management at White Lodge have been excellent every step of the way, providing excellent personal care with empathy, compassion and understanding. The quality of the food is excellent, all meals are home cooked and there is a wide variety available. All of the staff are so friendly, patient and compassionate with all of the residents. The recent change in management has been instrumental in raising the standards throughout the home, not only in the level of care but in the decor, the number of staff and general provision of wellbeing and providing bespoke care for every residents’ needs. I cannot recommend White Lodge highly enough. My Dad’s quality of life and daily care has improved so much and for this I am truly grateful to all the staff and management who have made a real, meaningful difference to our lives.
My husband was discharged from hospital to White Lodge. From the moment he arrived all the staff were helpful. They are genuinely concerned for his welfare and mine. They encouraged me to phone as often as I wished and showed understanding of how difficult this transition is for a partner/carer. They have been patient with my questions and anxieties. They are attentive to his needs and treat him with kindness and respect. My husband had to return to hospital and on his return, although he has Alzheimer’s, he recognised it was his room and appeared pleased to be back. This says it all for me. My husband has not been in the home many months, but I feel positive for his care in the time ahead and I look forward to forging a stronger relationship with the staff in the months to come.
Mum has advanced dementia and is now unable to leave her bed. The care she receives from the friendly staff is excellent and I cannot thank them enough for looking after Mum in the way I would expect in her current condition. Having to book an appointment and taking a Covid test is at the present time an inconvenience but keeps everyone safe and is understandable, the home is Covid free because of it.
My mother has been a resident for over three years and over this time they have cared for my mother with the utmost care, with dignity and respect. As one member of staff said to me we always remember this is the residents' home. Over the past eighteen months of the pandemic and during lockdown they have ensured that all residents were kept safe as much as they could from Covid and this resulted in not one case in the home. This has been so reassuring. Although difficult for all not seeing our loved ones they kept us in touch by phone and video calls. During this time was my mother's ninetieth birthday and I was able to share her celebrations and opening of presents with her via video call which for me was a very emotional call. I highly recommend this home to anyone looking for residential care.
My mother was cared for in White Lodge for the past 2 years until she passed away in January this year at the age of 97. I would personally like to thank White Lodge and staff for all their kindness, care and respect that they showed to my mother throughout her stay. Whenever we visited we were always greeted with happy smiling staff which is a hallmark of the home towards both residents and visitors. Having sampled the food that the residents are provided with it is easy to see why my mother gained weight. A big thank you to the chefs! A special thank you to you all for helping me through the final difficult days.
My father has been in White Lodge since May 2019, he has always been treated with utmost respect and dignity. I am kept well informed of any problems such as falls etc. In general, dad appears to be happy and content, especially with the food and all the staff.
We put mum into care with some trepidation but we need not have worried. White Lodge have been wonderful. Mum has settled in and is very happy. All the staff are caring and helpful and food is excellent. We went to their garden party on the 10th August and had a lovely time, as did mum. So thank you to all concerned for looking after our mum.
My mother was a resident for 7 years until her death last week. In all that time, she experienced wonderful kindness and excellent care. During her last days, the staff could not have been more caring and attentive both to her and to me and the family. I will always be so grateful to them for keeping her safe and happy.
We have been satisfied with the care home and definite signs of development in the right direction. Management more focussed.
Mum was at home for 18 months and was treated with respect and kindness the whole time. Whenever I visited staff were cheerful, friendly and helpful. It gave the family great peace of mind to know mum was warm, safe, well fed and cared for.
My mother has been resident here for over two years now and is settled and well cared for. The staff have got to know her, her likes and dislikes and treat her with affection as well as respect. Her interaction with other residents is minimal, so her good relationship with the staff is particularly important and they are a great asset to the home. Family can and do visit her frequently and are always made welcome and kept well informed.
