View Full Details of St Vincent House, SouthseaMy mother was a resident at the home from October 2024 until her death in March 2025. During that time, she was given excellent care. The staff were very kind and thoughtful and nothing was too much trouble. She refused to eat, but was given every encouragement. The food always looked and smelled appetising. When visiting mum we were always made very welcome.
My mother was a resident of St Vincent Lodge, Southsea for 5 years. She received very good care, from a dedicated team of staff. She settled in well, and enjoyed the activities and attention she received. Laterly, she needed pureed food. The chef presented this beautifully, ie carrot puree was served in the shape of a carrot. Overall, l was very impressed with the home, never smelling incontinence issues.
My mum has been a resident since November 2023. The care she receives is exemplary from all the staff. Due to her dementia she took a while to settle but was shown kindness and compassion and loves living here now. She needs persuading to join in activities but Sharon works her magic and it is wonderful to see her participating in so many things. She is always clean and in her own clothes. The food is excellent. As a family we are always greeted as friends and the staff take the time to learn about us so that they can talk to Mum about her family. We could not have chosen a better home . Thank you.
My dad has been a resident for over 2 years and I can honestly say all the wonderful staff from management to domestics at St. Vincent's go above and beyond to make everyone feel happy and comfortable. The care and attention to detail is second to none. The residence always appear happy and content which is very important. St Vincents activity team are outstanding and provide lots of different things for them to do, like entertainers, arts and crafts, trips out along the seafront and even the local nursery children visit regularly which puts a smile on everyone's face. I can honestly say that choosing St. Vincent was 100% the right decision for my dad, I would strongly recommend this st Vincents to anyone looking for a safe and caring place for their loved one.
My father has been a resident of St Vincents for over 18 months. Despite his frailty and underlying medical conditions he has had no admissions to hospital. This is due to the caring and attentive nature of the care team. If he has become unwell the staff have contacted his GP and medication has been provided in a timely manner. The team also provide a number of activities and entertainment for the residents and have strong links with the community.
My partner has been a resident at St Vincent House for nearly three years and now he is at the end of his life. The management team has adapted his care plan for this stage of his dementia and I have been kept fully informed and involved with the process. I have been given a full and clear explanation of how he can be kept comfortable and safe with minimum intervention and within current guidelines. He is treated with so much patience, care, and respect, and with knowledge of his particular needs and sensitivities gained throughout his time there. I am impressed with how much time the carers are able to give him on a 1:1 basis, reflecting the very favourable ratio of staff to residents and the general ethos of the Home. Good practice in any environment always comes from above; at St Vincent, it is taught, modelled, and encouraged. I myself am treated with care and compassion at this difficult time. I don't have any family support and this means a lot to me, it gives me strength.
Lovely care home, very clean. Very professionally managed with excellent, caring and compassionate staff. My mother needs a lot of care and medication, and she is given everything she needs. The food is excellent, and we would recommend St Vincent House Southsea to anyone who would require a care home for their loved ones.
Super happy with the service provided by St Vincent House. You really get what you pay for. The location, food, activities, trips out, personal care, cleanliness and communication are spot on. Excellent management and teamwork from the staff. You can easily see the care comes from the heart.
My mum has been a resident at St Vincent House since October 2022, and the care she has received has been exceptional! All of the carers are very patient, thoughtful and really do want to do the very best they can. Mum can be very difficult at times owing to her condition, and everyone treats her with dignity and respect. A special mention has to be made to one lady, who makes such an effort to get Mum out of bed, showered, dressed and downstairs, which is not easy! My brother and I are always kept abreast of all matters by the management team, who are all lovely, and they really do care! Additionally, when we call in during office hours, the gentleman in the office always answers in such a fantastic manner - he really is a ray of sunshine. Another mention has to be to the chef, who is constantly tested by my mum's changing requirements and is always very happy to accommodate as much as possible! Nothing is too much for all the team at St Vincent House; thank you!
I recently volunteered at St Vincent House, Southsea, and I have to write this review to make sure everybody knows how special it is. All of the staff, from administrators to chefs and, of course, carers, pay special attention to each resident and their individual needs. I was impressed by the attention to detail, like how everybody knew exactly how each resident likes their hot and cold drinks and the lengths the kitchen went to, to make sure the meals were as individualised as possible so that everybody would have an enjoyable meal. The food is made from fresh ingredients every day. I witnessed the care taken in looking after each resident in their rooms, and at mealtimes, every carer demonstrated great empathy and respect for each individual, cheerfully engaging them as much as possible and making sure they retained their independence, only stepping in where necessary. I would put my family here; they are an amazing team doing a great job (and should be better paid!).
Visited the home - lovely, welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff - did not feel like a care home - was offered tea or coffee - very clean, and the staff were amazing. The home was very clean, and I was looked after very well.
St Vincent House has provided the most amazing care and support for my sister (87). The staff are so kind and courteous and treated her with dignity and compassion. The palliative care of my sister was incredible - so caring and kind, and also gave our family so much support at the end while sitting with her. A very, very good team!
My mum has called St Vincent House, Southsea her home for the last six years. During that time, she has received 5-star care and attention. Her room is lovely and clean, as is the whole residence, and being on the seafront has lovely sea views across the Solent. The staff are simply wonderful with friendly smiles and greetings; they all create a lovely home environment for the residents. My mum is nearing the end of her journey and needs full-time 24-hour care. She is always washed and dressed, spotlessly clean, and treated with love, respect and the dignity she deserves. I would not hesitate to highly recommend St Vincent, Southsea.
Most staff are very friendly and caring. Homely atmosphere. Staff approachable to family. A doctor's advice is always sought when needed. Parents looked after during Covid situations very well. Tasty homemade food.
My mother has been a resident for over two years and was admitted just before the pandemic. We were recommended this home by a friend, and I think I would give their recommendation five stars. Throughout the pandemic, staff were kind and patient assisting Mum with regular FaceTime calls. Now always made welcome on visits, and the house has a homely and friendly atmosphere. We are grateful for regular updates and a newsletter with photos of activities. Observed all grades of staff from the caring staff, kitchen staff, activities staff and office staff interacting well with all the residents. Mum always appears well cared for and smartly dressed. Staff always have a joke with Mum on returning to the home from outings with the family making her feel very welcome in her home.
St Vincent care home is outstanding in every way. We have excellent facilities and meals with great, caring staff in all departments. I am happy to highly recommend this establishment to friends and family today and forever!
My husband (who is here with me) and myself has been made very welcome. We have various medical problems, which have been well cared for. We feel settled and happy.
My father was a resident in his last few months and was treated with respect and dignity. A fantastic care setting that employs staff who really do go the extra mile to ensure the comfort and well being of their residents.
My oldest and dearest friend has been a resident at St Vincent House since the start of 2020. I cannot imagine a better environment for him, and I cannot imagine a more genuine, kinder or more understanding staff. Their incredible hard work was evident from day one, but their dedication throughout the long ordeal of Covid has been nothing short of remarkable. They have always been prompt to respond to phone calls and emails, and on visits, they always make time to talk face to face. As my old chum gradually and inevitably embraces his next phase of dreaming and peace, it's wonderful to know that he is happy and treated so well. And did I mention the food? It's brilliant. Thank you.
Very caring and conscientious staff, not to mention hard working. Mum is happy, and I have no worries about her at all. The staff are always friendly and accommodating when we visit, and we are looking forward to things getting back to normal and spending more time at St Vincent's.
