View Full Details of Poplars Care HomeI really can't praise Poplars enough. Mum was with them for 2 years with Alzheimer's. Poplars isn't a new building but this care home is all about the staff. Mum had her own en-suite room which we were able to personalize with her own furniture, pictures and things precious to her so it felt like her own home. Alzheimer's patients can be difficult and this was certainly true of my mum but everyone without exception was kind and patient with her. Mum could have been in one of the many newly built care homes but from stories I've heard from families with relatives in them she would not have had the wonderful care she received here. During Mum's last week, she was on end-of-life care, myself and my partner were able to stay with her 24 hours a day for a week, enabling me to be with her when she passed. Because of their care, I was able to be her daughter for that last week and not her carer. they drowned us in love and tea for that last week and I will always be grateful to the manager and the great team.
Extremely smelly, scruffy, tired. In desperate need of a major overhaul, decoration and ventilation! Rusty stair lift, paint peeling off the doors and walls, broken handles, patchwork flooring of various types - including plywood! Very noisy and without a quiet space for those who need it. Lack of protocol. Overpriced, poorly managed by the owners. Lovely staff that really try their best!
I am looked after very well. Today I was given a bath.
I am residing at Poplars Care Home at Southampton. I have been here for approximately four or five months. During the time I have been here, I have been treated so very well by all staff. Excellent food at the home and excellent care and my room is excellent. I have the staff's permission to have my little cat with me.
My uncle came to the care home on a temporary basis as he was unable to care for himself and was placed by social service until his case had been reviewed. He liked the home and realised he could not look after himself so decided to become a permanent resident.
My husband has been cared for at Poplars Care Home for one year now. Despite my husband's health problem, he is content and settled. The very kind and professional manager did his very best for my husband to feel comfortable and safe in his new surroundings. I find the management and care staff extremely efficient and kind. My husband is encouraged and helped with his day-to-day living. The home is pleasant, calm and there is a substantial garden for the residents to use. I am able to visit by appointment and always made to feel welcome.
Mum was only there for a few weeks but she had excellent care and all the staff were very supportive.
We feel most fortunate that our family member is now a resident in such a kindly, caring and well run care facility. Dementia is a cruel illness that places a huge burden on families. Just knowing that your loved one is well taken care of is a huge relief and for that person to be happy is of paramount importance. Thank you Poplars.
I have always found Poplars to be a very nice place, my mother is well cared for by the staff.
This is a small friendly care home providing a home from home atmosphere. Lots of improvements have been made in recent months, to make it a cheery place which is dementia-friendly. Communication is good, and the staff really know the residents.
I am usually welcomed and often offered a cup of tea.
The staff are quite helpful. The food is good to excellent. The care assistants are very helpful and tend to be very caring at most times.
I found my cousin contented given his limited abilities. He appears to be happy with both the staff and his surroundings.
Very good to begin with, after a year the then proprietor lost interest as they decided to sell. Since the present owner took over, both the care and the food menus improved and my wife likes the staff who are very caring.
My mother in law has been in the care of Poplars for 18 months and has been looked after with care and dignity. Staff at Poplars are well informed with my mother in law's needs and are respectful of her wishes.
Very happy and contented. Very helpful staff and management.
I have been treated with great care and attention during my stay here and feel I have benefitted from my treatment here.
All staff are very kindly and caring. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Could not find a better care home no matter how hard you looked.
Poplars is a pleasant spacious home and residents seem well cared for and well fed.
