View Full Details of Beane River ViewMy mum is currently a resident at Beane River View in Hertford and the service and care she receives is first-class. Very professional, from the office and seniors to the care workers themselves who constantly try to make the resident's life as good and comfortable as possible.
My husband has enjoyed his stay at Beane River View on each occasion. The staff are lovely, friendly and welcoming. Only issue has been around sorting a district nurse to visit but we think we may have cracked this going forward. Hope to have him back in later this year for his/my break.
Wonderful, friendly staff. Extremely caring. Lots of activities and events during December for Christmas. Beautifully decorated for Christmas.
Choosing Beane River View was prompted by several factors: The manager's friendly welcome instantly put us at ease. His gentle interaction with residents during our first visit was an indication of his 'get involved' style. He knew their names and more importantly, he was a familiar face. Their response was such that they seemed happy, in a 'safe pair of hands'. His approach reveals his background is actively in elderly care and is a 'lead by example' manager. (Big plus for us.) Staff were genuinely friendly. Not just 'for show'. They interacted with residents (and each other!) like they wanted to be working there. (Another tick!) Dementia is a journey. It's comforting knowing a care team understands this and is patient and willing to navigate a family through this process. Staff are approachable, listen to and act on questions and actively encourage family involvement. This is Mum's 'new home'. Trusting her 'extended family' to keep her safe, well and happy is what any family wants for their parent.
Myself and my sister visited our mother a couple of times before Christmas and found her being included in group activities (singing and a party event with a singer). She was spoken to and offered food etc. and had been prepared for the event with a hair wash and nail varnish and dressed in nice clothes. We generally felt that our mother was cared for fairly well and the carers talk to her in a way that shows they know what she likes. They use physical contact, e.g. holding her hands or putting an arm around her shoulders. They were using eye contact when talking to her and waited patiently for her responses. There were times when she may have been left without attention for longer than might be ideal and the carers seemed distracted or even engrossed in their phones rather than focussing on the moment, but overall we feel that they do a good job with our mother's limited communication and involvement with activities. She certainly responds to them with smiles and seems happy.
Beane River View is homely, the staff are all so kind, patient and caring. The meals are homecooked and there's lots of choice. The run-up to Christmas was great, the residents made cards, decorations, had a party, went to a panto, and out for a pub lunch. It's such a friendly home, you feel happy knowing your loved one is being looked after and most importantly - safe.
They are very accommodating for Dad, as he isn’t the easiest person, always trying to encourage him to do things, they do a great job. Trying to encourage him to eat the right stuff, has a bit of an issue with food, there’s a lot Dad doesn’t like.
Mum recently suffered a fall due to her poor balance and ended up in hospital requiring a hip replacement. The staff at the home were totally professional calling an ambulance, looking after Mum and keeping me informed. Once returned to the home after the operation, the staff at Beane River have done everything required to help my mum recover.
I am happy with the overall care that my father receives. The cleanliness is good and the room is well-designed. The staffing levels also seem to be good. The only comment I would make is there doesn't seem to be too much activity organised when I visit. Although I have been to a couple of events that are fun and well-organised. The only other comment I would make is that there seems to be a lot of food waste and I don't understand why so much food is prepared.
I have come to believe that my mother is in the best place for her. The caring staff are well-intentioned, good-humoured and generally responsive to her needs. The administrative staff are likewise pleasant and willing to help and to keep me informed.
My 99 year old mother has been a resident for 15 months and still is. I can only say that my mother couldn't be in a better place. The staff are amazing, from the cleaners/carers/activity ladies/kitchen staff and office staff. Not forgetting maintenance! Last December, Mum had a fall, was in bed for a month. The carers nursed her and then occupational therapists came regularly and got her walking again. The staff and residents feel like a second family, the place is so relaxed. Mum has her hair done weekly on the premises. A chiropodist 6 weekly and her nails painted. The activity ladies are always thinking of different activities for the residents to do. In the nice weather, they can sit in the garden. Mum has a lovely room. She has a good choice of food daily. If there is nothing Mum wants, the kitchen staff make her a salad. Again I cannot fault Beane River View, Hertford.
My aunt came to live at Beane River View in 2017 when her increasing frailty made it unsafe for her to remain in her own home. The care she received was exemplary, staff were fully engaged with her and encouraged her to the best of her physical and mental ability. My aunt enjoyed chatting to them (whilst she was still able). As a family, we were always made welcome and encouraged to visit as often as we wanted. She was always well presented, hair done and nails painted - she was safe, happy and treated most fondly by the staff. My aunt died on 24 June, at the grand old age of 102 - the oldest resident in the home. Following her funeral, her wake was held at Beane River View and staff were able to attend. On behalf of all our large family who are spread far and wide, who came together on the day - I say thank you to the care staff, for the wonderful buffet and last but not least to the manager, whose help and advice has been much appreciated.
My mother is now a resident, it's an excellent home. Simple as that.
I cannot rate this home highly enough, and I know what 'not so good' looks like as we moved my father from another care home in Nov 21. Sadly he passed away in July 22. He had dementia and eventually, could do nothing for himself, finally becoming bedbound. The staff were out of this world and treated him as if he were their own father. In fact, the love, care, and attention were felt throughout the entire home, from management to office staff, kitchen staff, and cleaners, it's like one big family. I had total peace of mind that he was getting the very best care available, honest loving care. In the week that dad became very poorly towards the end of life I stayed with him all day and the staff looked after me too, both physically in terms of offering me food (which was absolutely delicious) and drinks and emotionally, doing everything in their power to make both of us as comfortable as possible. I'd give this home 10 stars if I could.
Although my mother-in-law was only in Beane River for two weeks, she was very well looked after and cared for. My mother-in-law was happy and comfortable. The manager and his staff were always very helpful and spent time both on/off the phone explaining or helping us. Nothing was too much trouble. Clean and cheerful home.
My father moved to the care home in March 22 and was welcomed very well with great kindness and care. My father was blind and suffering from Alzheimer's. He felt safe and secure, which he had not done for many months in his own home. Sadly my father passed away after only 4-weeks at the home, but they kept me fully informed about him at all times.
Friendly and helpful staff. After only a few weeks my mum's mental and physical wellbeing had improved enormously. These people are kind and really know what twenty-four hours a day care is all about.
The staff at Beane River have always been courteous, helpful and most importantly very caring of Mummy, even in these hideous, difficult times. They have gone out of their way to make sure we could visit when allowed, etc.
My sister-in-law was with you for about 3 years and then her husband has now been with you for about 3 years. I visited my sister-in-law regularly and both she and my brother have always enjoyed their food there. They have various stimulating forms of entertainment and also enjoyed the garden, which is very attractive.
My family and I are extremely happy with the exceptional care that you have and continue to provide my mother. During what has been a very difficult time for everybody, we as a family could not be more grateful to the entire management and staff for what you have done to keep everyone safe, whilst also providing exceptional care and empathy to my mother. Thank you for everything that you have done, you have an exceptional team that I know you are very proud of. We could not be happier as a family, and thank you once again for the love and empathy you have shared with my mother.
