View Full Details of St Andrews Care HomeMum was at St Andrews for 4 years before we moved her in May '24. General staff turnover at St Andrews is high so there is little continuity. Staffing levels are low. There were roughly half the staff per 10 residents compared to her new home. Consequently, there were often times when I and another resident's son would sit in the lounge with residents for periods of an hour with zero staff present. We cannot comment on the non-dementia units which may be better but I absolutely would not leave anyone with dementia at St Andrew's even with a new manager. B&M Care's "profits before all else" attitude means staffing levels are at a minimum, corners are cut and residents are often not safe. Our mother was assaulted by other residents (punched in the face, hit on the head hard with a walking stick etc.) and covered in bruises, because the dementia residents were left unsupervised. There is currently an ongoing investigation so I cannot comment on other serious issues but will do when resolved.
I was lucky to find St Andrews Care Home for my Mum when she needed more support than we could provide her with at home. From the moment she arrived, we were all made so welcome. The staff are amazing, so caring and knowledgeable and the building is well maintained and clean. The garden is lovely and accessible which my Mum enjoyed.
We had to find a suitable care home for our mum, who is in the early stages of dementia. St. Andrews has proven to be the perfect choice. The staff are warm and welcoming. They have always been very supportive to Mum, and incredibly patient. They will always make themselves available to you if needed. They are always encouraging Mum to attend some of the daily events on offer. We know Mum is safe and well looked after.
St Andrews is always warm and welcoming. The staff are friendly and willing to give their time when needed. They have shown patience and tolerance. The facilities are cheerful and well-maintained and always clean. There are a variety of activities on offer, our Mum is not yet ready to participate in these but staff are inviting and encouraging her at every opportunity.
I went to St Andrews Care home for two weeks of respite care while I was recovering from surgery. Despite not being a 'typical' care home resident, the staff went out of their way to make me feel at home and part of the community. The staff at the St Andrews Care home are excellent, they are a lovely team and there is a wonderful warm and friendly atmosphere. They are very experienced and helpful, willing to meet each resident's needs. I was amazed at how familiar they are with each resident's likes and dislikes and how they take the time to meet them. The care home is lovely, it is well-maintained and clean and each bedroom in my building has its own en-suite shower room. The lounge/dining area was particularly nice and well used by residents as an area for activities, to socialise, to watch television or to read a book. The gardens and patio were very pretty and were very nice for sitting outside or having a walk when the weather is good.
St Andrews has always been friendly and welcoming. They gave our uncle a safe and comfortable home, accommodating his particular needs and encouraging him to partake in all the varied activities provided. We knew from the start that we had made the right choice.
Both Mum and Dad are residents at St Andrews Care Home. It's reassuring for the family to know they are safe and well cared for 24/7. All the staff are professional but I hadn't expected they would also form friendships with my parents and my family. The staff are always available to speak to me in person or on the phone.
Since first enquiring about St Andrews, I have been met with welcoming, cheerful, empathic and professional staff who, despite them attending to many residents with a wide variety of needs, always give our requests and needs the highest priority. In the four months my uncle has been a resident, his diet, health and attitude have all improved and he seems happier at St Andrews, than he has for many years. His sight and mobility are poor and will not get better, but he is alert and is benefitting from the social contact and mind-stimulating activities available. Thank you!
Choosing a care home for our mother was not easy. With moderate dementia but still physically able at 90 years old, we knew we needed a care home which would facilitate our mum, but also which would feel like she was ‘at home’ St Andrews Care home and the staff are exactly what we were looking for. The care is excellent, our mum is being looked after and she is loved. It feels like we now have an extended family. It feels like a happy, homely welcoming place to be. We are always pleased to visit and are always thanking the staff. Every staff member goes out of their way to help, smile and make the residents happy and comfortable. I know we made the right decision and have never looked back.
My Father went to St Andrews Care Home for two weeks of respite care in the dementia unit. The staff were attentive and always had time for him even though I know they were very busy. They were unfamiliar with how to put on leg liners and compression socks but at the suggestion of the unit manager, she filmed me putting them on which was then shown to all carers. Thoroughly recommend.
The extreme level of personalised care and attention taken in all aspects of care and support is outstanding. The communication level and interaction shows compassion, kindness and professionalism.
My mother has been at St Andrews for almost a year. We are delighted with the care she receives. She is quite at home there now, and all her needs are met. The staff call me if they have any concerns and encourage Mum to phone me if she has any worries. The little cottage in the garden is a great asset, and we have used it when celebrating her birthday and Christmas, as well as at other times. I consider we couldn't have chosen a better care home for my mother.
My mum moved into St Andrews a year ago this week. We had no experience with care homes and didn't know what to expect, but everything has been brilliant, and we are very happy with the care, love and kindness given to my mum. My mum was in a mess medically and emotionally when she moved in; she has severe dementia and weighed less than six stone. Today she is strong and happy in her life, it is not the life she would have wanted but within her dementia world, she has a great quality of life. She is always occupied and entertained, and food is available whenever she wants it. The meals are amazing. The staff are lovely, my mum is in Windsor, and it is very much her home with them. The staff go the extra mile to make sure the guests are settled, happy and relaxed. I cannot fault the care, support and dedication the staff show the guests. We enjoy visiting my mum and all the guests, a visitor is very much a visitor for all, and there are some real characters in Windsor.
My family and I are very pleased with the way my mother-in-law (grandmother) is looked after by the staff at St Andrews Care Home. We have found them very caring. This month, I had cause to speak to staff to discuss a few concerns I had with my mother-in-law's behaviour. They were very helpful and understanding. I was assured they would deal with the matter. I always feel I can go to them with any problems.
The minute we stepped into St Andrews Care Home as a family, we knew this was the best place for my mother to come and live. It has a feeling of a hotel, the ambience and the staff who are so caring and supportive. I would definitely recommend St Andrews for your loved ones.
My mother has been a resident since August 2021. Her condition, on occasion, can sometimes be a little challenging. She is always treated with kindness, care and compassion by highly professional staff. St Andrews is a real community but is always aware of residents' individual needs. I would highly recommend it.
My stepfather had excellent care from the staff at St Andrews and was very happy there. We found the management and staff (especially some particular members of staff, but the whole team) great, available, communicative, flexible and very understanding of his needs. They went above and beyond expectations to make his time with them happy and fulfilling. Thank you.
My mother went to St Andrews in December 21 after we lost Dad, and her Dementia and Parkinson's had progressed rapidly, which meant she could not live at home on her own. The staff and environment provided a safe, very comfortable and very caring environment for Mum. Every week when I visited Mum to take her out or just stay in and chat - I always felt we had made the right decision, and she always was very clean, dressed nicely, and keen to go out. St Andrews team, thank you for giving Mum 10 months of great care and keeping her safe before she passed away.
I have visited various senior residents who have been in respite or long-term residential care in St Andrews. I always find the staff to be friendly, welcoming and caring, and they are always familiar with the residents I am visiting. There's a warmth and integrity about the atmosphere, and my friends have always said they felt well looked after. Reception is always a warm and welcoming place.
My father has been at the home now for 6-months and has settled very well in the dementia unit. He seems to be eating very well at the table for his meals. All the staff that have been caring for him are very friendly and kind towards him and us as a family. There was an Easter fair which we were able to attend, and took my dad out into the garden and had an afternoon tea. His room is kept tidy, and Dad is kept smart most of the time. If there are any problems, we are told by phone or email or both.
