View Full Details of Clare Lodge Care HomeClare Lodge has provided my wife with safe, efficient care in an environment which is warm and friendly. Indeed, it feels like an extended family. Any developing needs have been managed quickly and effectively, including full consultation with me. As a relative I have always been made welcome at Clare Lodge and treated with care, respect and friendship. Indeed, the concern of the management and carers for my own welfare has been an unexpected bonus and hugely supportive.
My father's quality of life has been transformed by being at Clare Lodge. He has become fitter, more mobile more engaged and so much happier since he's been there. I cannot praise the staff enough for their care and kindness.
All the staff are so caring and helpful, friendly, and totally understand the needs of each resident. Beautiful garden to sit in, so quiet and relaxing. Very good standard of clean, comfortable rooms. My Mother had two weeks respite and asked to go back as she loved being with everyone there, which totally put my mind at rest. No hesitation sat all about her going back. Full marks to everyone at Clare Lodge.
Lovely care home, Mum has been a resident for a number of years now. Lovely, relaxed, family atmosphere, carers are so patient and kind. Residents are taken out in the home's minibus for trips and there is a well-kept garden and plenty of activities to keep them entertained if residents want to join in, they have their own cinema and hair salon. Regular visits from opticians, chiropodists and the like. The home and residents' rooms are very clean and there is an excellent choice of food. If I had one criticism it would be that the bedrooms could be a little bit bigger but other than that, Mum has been very happy here and I'm so grateful to everyone at the home for their excellent care of her.
We looked at eight different care homes in the St Albans area and Clare Lodge stood out, so we decided to put Mum in for respite care and we have not been disappointed. The family atmosphere is perfect for her, the staff are all approachable and the care that is given is excellent, led by a fantastic management team. I would highly recommend Clare Lodge to anyone - Mum is now a permanent resident and enjoying the company and the activities provided.
Clare Lodge, the manager and the whole team working there have been absolutely wonderful, not only to my brother but to my daughter and myself, helping us out at an extremely stressful time. My brother's medication has to be altered, at times this has just been taken in its stride by the home. Everyone has been most welcoming. The care home cat adds to the family feel.
There have been some issues in the last year which I have spoken to the manager about. The manager is very kind and concerned about the issues I had and keen to address them and make sure they were resolved. Very happy with the management.
I have been impressed by the care provided by Clare Lodge Care Home. Initially, I was pleased to have sourced a place for Mum because it was convenient and close to home but I have been delighted with the quality of care. They have provided a clean, safe and welcoming environment. My mum enjoys interacting with the other residents as well as getting involved in the range of activities provided. She is encouraged to be as independent as possible and is calm, content and happy. The home is well-led and the quality of care is excellent.
A wonderful home where all residents have superb care. Stimulated regularly - always activities happening. Residents are treated with respect and dignity. Our church has now started a knitting group in the home and staff join in also. A wonderful, happy atmosphere prevails. I have visited people here for many months and the welcome and support is superb. I visit several other care homes in this area, they are not a patch on Clare Lodge Care Home. I would be happy to spend my final days there if necessary.
My mother has been at Clare Lodge Care Home for nearly 2 years. In February she celebrated her 100th birthday. She has a nice room. The staff are friendly and welcoming and look after her as well as they can. The manager and staff keep us informed and respond quickly to any questions or concerns we may have. The home has recently been redecorated and the staff are lovely.
Clare Lodge came by word of mouth that it had an excellent reputation. I am very impressed by the outstanding dedication of all staff who work there. As a daughter of a resident, my mum has been treated with kindness, care, dignity and respect. Her concerns and worries have been listened to and acted upon swiftly by all involved in her care. It has been a traumatic 6 months, following a fall in March, admission to hospital, then placed on a discharge to assessment pathway, to another care home and then on to Clare Lodge. Since arriving my mum has a healthy glow back in her cheeks and that is all I need to reassure me that my mum is being well looked after and cared for. Unfortunately, I live some distance away in the North of England, but whenever I have a query or question it has been dealt with swiftly and promptly by staff, either on the phone or by an email response. I can highly recommend Clare Lodge and it certainly lives up to its reputation.
As a family, we have nothing but praise for all the staff here. With Covid-19 it has been a tough time for everyone and Mum had only been in for a relatively short time as lockdown hit. The care and consideration that Mum has been given during her time here has been amazing and we would highly recommend Clare Lodge to anyone looking for somewhere to provide care for their loved ones.
The manager and her team at Clare Lodge were extremely supportive when I had to arrange residential care for my mother at short notice, despite it being at the height of the second wave of the pandemic. She is very content in the home and her health has improved significantly due to the care and support that the home has been able to access for her. The staff have facilitated visits for Dad and myself as often as they have been able and communication about what can and cannot be accommodated is swift and clear. I would not hesitate to recommend the home.
Between both my parents, this is the 4th home I have experienced and is the only one I have been 100% happy with, mainly due to the caring attitude of the staff. They seem to understand my mother well, and when I have visited in the evening I have often found staff sitting next to her chatting with her. The events coordinator is excellent, very proactive and considerate, ensuring that there are daily activities and events that residents and relatives can enjoy together.
I love that my mum is in Clare Lodge. It is a lovely home from home. The staff are like family as I am in everyday. I also love talking to the other residents.
My Dad had a very positive 2-week stay here. Everyone was very friendly from the knowledgable and cheerful deputy manager, through to the care staff ( quite a few of whom were men which were good for my Dad) the cooks, very smiley and helpful cleaning and laundry staff. It’s a small home so feels very homely with lovely touches like homemade cakes each day and a cat called Nigel. The food is very good and they were always happy for relatives to eat too. People are very much treated as individuals with their personalities and abilities respected. My Dad was unfortunately out when it was film afternoon in the cinema room, but we could have watched a film with him as a family which is nice. My Dad had a nice room and enjoyed watching the world go by. We sat in the pleasant garden quite a bit too. I would recommend this home. It was very reasonably priced and good value for money.
My mother in law came to Clare Lodge very frail and had lost confidence after falling. She had early dementia. A full and varied programme was available to choose from which helped make new friends, bring back old lost and happy memories and restore her confidence. The home has been extremely attentive to her needs and ours. We live abroad and at first, could phone her and she was able to chat. As her dementia advanced we phoned the home and they explained who we were before passing her the phone so she wasn't confused. Little touches that go a long way. We were always kept up to date and invited to events. One can go anytime, no visiting time and no warning to be welcomed. We could always have a meal which was all freshly cooked to a high standard by exceptionally friendly staff. She loved the garden and spent a lot of time out watching the birds. She sadly passed away recently and the fantastic team gave respect, dignity and fantastic support through to the end. Highly recommended.
Very friendly, professional, caring staff. Brilliant atmosphere. The staff know and treat residents as individuals. Keyworker particularly knows my Uncle well, cares for him, identifies and encourages his interests and also encourages social activities and fun with a good sense of humour.
I am so pleased with the help that my husband is getting, everyone is so caring and kind. He has a lovely room overlooking the garden which is beautifully kept and I am made really welcome when I arrive especially as I am disabled myself. I am amazed that I am getting free meals, so that I don't have to cook when I come home and I can have a good night's sleep when I know that he is being well looked after. Also, I brought in a DVD with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin and watched it in the cinema and had hot popcorn.
