View Full Details of DapplemereWe love Activities Coordinator, she is so kind to the residents, she is calming when needs be and up beat when the residents are partaking in activities. The whole atmosphere is completely different and positive when she is working! Just a shame she can't be there every day. What a difference she has made to all the residents.
I am happy with the care received by the staff. My mother is happy, clean and cared for.
Dapplemere is not smart but it provided the most wonderful care for my mother in her final months. With its modest size (22 beds) and many very special members of staff, it has a truly 'family' feeling. Excellent nursing care, supported by good local GP practice, is enhanced by amazing, dedicated carers and completed by home-cooked and friendly, personal ancillary cleaning and laundry service. A great team and huge support to our family.
My mum needed to move from a residential setting for more 1:1 nursing. The staff were very kind and caring from the day of her transfer. Although Mum passed away only a few weeks later as was very frail, the staff were amazing and we were very happy with the care she received. Thank you!
Dapplemere has now become a home away from home for my husband and myself. My husband is well cared for by caring and compassionate staff. As his wife, I also feel well-supported by the staff and the Home Manager. We really feel like we are part of the Dapplemere family. My favourite quote from Dapplemere by the Home Manager is "this is your home and you can go to bed whenever you like and eat when you like". Now that is really like home.
I am visiting from Western Australia and have either worked and visited many care homes over the years (including my mother) and I have never been so impressed as I have observed the care and support of my long-term friend (and other residents) whilst sitting in the communal lounge area. It is truly a home-like environment with individual needs and preferences catered for, including meals or socialising. I must say I thought how much a similar facility would be appreciated at home for both my family, or indeed myself when I am in need of such care. Thank you for such lovely care of my dear friend.
My mother has been a resident for nearly 7 years. She has dementia and is in a wheelchair. She has been looked after extremely well and seems happy. She is always very well-dressed and groomed. The home seems to do well in retaining staff who are friendly and caring although, like many care homes, there is a shortage of staff it seems to me sometimes. While it is not the smartest of buildings, it is very homely and has a beautiful garden.
My dad went into Dapplemere after a long stay in hospital. As I live abroad, I didn't see him for a few weeks, but when I did, I couldn't believe the change in him. He was so much happier, far less confused and enjoying eating again. It was like getting my dad back. Everyone was very kind to him and I was touched that someone made his memory box for him and it was perfect. He always looked clean, neat and comfortable. He died peacefully in his sleep and it meant a lot to me that they had been checking on him during the night and notified the family within an hour of him passing away. They didn't hurry us to clear his room. At all times I felt he was cared for and treated with respect and I'm grateful his last weeks were comfortable and peaceful.
Lovely nursing home. My husband has the best care. Food is excellent. All people are treated with care and compassion, could not ask for more. Staff are the best, nothing is too much trouble.
A tranquil home where our father is well cared for by staff sympathetic to his dementia needs. Food preferences are well catered for. Excellent key worker.
Visiting Brother-in-law (resident) from Australia. Reassuring to know the resident is cared for with respect, kindness and love. All the resident's needs are met. If you can't be in your own home, you are the next best thing.
My experience at Dapplemere was the staff were so very friendly, kind and considerate and the care home itself was clean, tidy, bright and very welcoming. It's somewhere I am very proud that my father has come to for care and I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs care.
We came to visit Dapplemere on Monday 12th June with regards to my dad coming to stay as a resident. We were met by the manageress whose is very lovely and treated us with the utmost respect. We are very impressed with this care home and the kind and very knowledgeable staff. The residents all seem very happy. The rooms were lovely, nice and spacious with big windows looking out over the very pretty garden. We met the chef, who has been there for over 25 years and her menu sounded amazing. We’d have no hesitation in recommending this care home.
All the staff were very kind and patient with my husband. Bedrooms were adequate, bedding was changed regularly. Overall, the care home was clean and reasonably well furnished although it could do with a refurbishment. Having said that it is well worn and has a homely feel suiting most of the occupants. Not having tried the food, I think it was ok.
Although Dapplemere is out of the way, small and quirky. It needs some tender loving care regarding decoration. Clean and tidy. Most of the cares have excellent skills in looking after residents. However, it is really necessary to put your caring skills onto residents and take their needs into consideration, their way and not yours. Management needs to improve their listening skills and not poo-hoo what the residents are saying. Unfortunately, you cannot run a care home on a shoestring budget.
Outstanding treatment and support for my brother-in-law from all members of staff at Dapplemere.
The staff are kind, attentive and obviously have my mother-in-law's best interests at heart, we couldn't be happier.
My father was a resident at Dappemere for four years. He died there in February. I cannot praise all the staff highly enough for the level of care and kindness they showed him and us, the family, especially in his last few days. A brilliant home with a brilliant manager. All the staff contribute to the high level of care and warm, friendly atmosphere. A very big thank you.
Mum moved to Dapplemere in November 2022. At first she was unsure of the change. But the staff were welcoming and went above and beyond to help settle her in. Since then, she has gained a healthy amount of weight, she enjoys all her meals and rarely leaves an empty plate! She is not mobile but this does not stop the activities person from visiting her in her room and making sure she isn't forgotten. They even take into account her Indian heritage and culture when planning activities. The entire team treat her with respect and care and this is what you would ask for. Never have I ever felt so happy and when relatives visit they have all said how welcoming everyone is and how well she is looked after. Thank you to the entire team, the managers, the nurses, the care staff, the catering and the facilities team, thank you for taking care of her as if she was your own mother.
My father had palliative care in November 2022 at this home. The empathy and professional care he received was extremely good, after a bad time he had previously with another care company. The staff are so caring and treat all clients and families with love. The manager, you have a huge heart, and we thank you for your compassion and dedication. Would recommend this warm, cosy, caring home.
