My mother stayed at Honister for just over a year and a half. I have nothing but praise for the staff and manager there. It was so reassuring to know she was in such good hands. I live a fair distance from the home so being kept informed by phone was excellent.
My brother-in-law has been in Honister for about eighteen months. When I have visited he always seemed happy the staff were always friendly and polite the manager would always keep me informed of what was going on. Unfortunately due to the fact that my relative's health has declined and he now needs nursing care we have to find a more suitable place for him. Thank you to all the staff at Honister for their care.
I had a dear friend in Honister for a short time recently. The circumstances for his family were particularly difficult and I was very grateful for the care and understanding shown by the Honister staff. In particular, I'd like to thank the manager, who was always prepared to take time to discuss the situation and was clearly trying to do his very best for my friend.
My uncle has been living at Honister for many years and has always seemed happy and well cared for. The staff seem to be friendly and caring. The environment is nice and my uncle particularly enjoys the activities.
My auntie wished to stay at Honister due to their care and compassion. I personally couldn’t thank them enough for all their support for my aunt and us as a family from the manager and his amazing staff.
My cousin has been a resident at Honister for some time. Since the new manager, I have seen a real improvement in communication with family members. This is vitally important to me as I live quite a distance from the care home. He has listened and more importantly, acted on suggestions I felt would make my cousin's stay at Honister even better. The manager has taken the time to find out what my cousin likes to do and incorporated this into the activities that are on offer. He is doing an excellent job and I feel confident that my cousin is receiving the best possible care. Thank you, it is much appreciated.
My mother was taken to the Honister Care Home following an incident of domestic violence (at 94!) The friendliness and care shown by all the staff we've met on every visit has been impressive. During her stay at the home we have been working with Social services to keep my mother-in-law safe, and the staff have worked with us to achieve this, even though this has put them in challenging situations. The manager has been wonderful in advocating for her in meetings. We know he has big plans for the home, and we will miss him! Unfortunately, the Honister was a short-term solution as she needed to be closer to her sons. Staff and residents had a goodbye party, with chocolate cake and a potted plant to take with her. My mother said how much she had enjoyed her stay, saying that no one had told her off, and she could do as she wanted! As she has been in a controlling marriage this means a lot. Thank you all for looking after her, in her own words, we'll bring her back to haunt you!
My father has dementia and has been at the care home for some time. He seems content and comfortable. The staff tend to his needs, and keeps me well informed on any concerns, social activities that he partakes in. This gives me peace of mind that he is being cared for, when I am unable to. I feel that we are working in partnership together to look after my father. Thanks for you all your help.
Visiting a member of my faith who has dementia and has been well looked after and cared for by excellent loving staff. She is always in good spirits and happy with the care that she receives and good food. The manager is doing an excellent job and is very helpful and pleasant person to converse with.
Our dad recently had a short stay at Honister as he had deteriorated and couldn't manage at his own home. It was his first stay in a care home and he was quite apprehensive. I can't praise the staff enough for how welcome and settled they made our dad feel. Every visit we could see the staff engaging with him and he was happy in their company. They also were very reassuring to us as family members. We felt they saw our dad for the person he is/was inside and not just dementia, sadly this isn't always the case as we've experienced in other homes since. Thank you so much Honister family for your love and care for our dad.
My Father had to move into a care home after a stroke in 2019. He was there for three years before he passed away. He was very happy there and his care needs were met throughout his stay. The staff were excellent, very well-trained and able to deal with any situations which came up regarding Father. He was attended by regular staff who provided a consistent level of service throughout his stay there. This was very important, providing Father with daily familiarity of faces as opposed to different faces if agency staff were used. His room was in good condition and always clean. He was very happy with the food prepared and cooked on site. The staff were very agreeable to myself and others when we wanted to visit. We were very happy with the care and attention that Father received and would highly recommend this care home.
My father was in Honister for 11 months and during that time he was treated with excellent care and compassion from the staff. All his needs were met on a daily basis. They also made sure I was looked after when I visited. I cannot praise the staff enough for the way he was cared for, including his very dignified end of life care. Honister is an older property that isn’t very inviting when you go there, but the care and attention the staff give to the residents certainly gets a 10/10 from me. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone.
My father in law was kept very well, all his needs were met and more. A lovely small friendly care home in the heart of Hertfordshire. Staff were well trained and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this home.
Excellent care home. I recommend this home. First class.
