View Full Details of The Lodge Care HomeMy mother-in-law stayed here for a couple of months and we were so satisfied with the experience. She got the best care, loved the food and found the whole experience very rewarding. Thank you to the manager and all the team.
My sister has settled very well during her first couple of months. She is drinking the regular liquids offered and improving her health. The home is warm and clean and the staff are attentive to resident needs. The bathrooms and toilets are always clean and well-stocked. Visitors are always made welcome and offered drinks when the residents have them.
My wife spent several days in respite care whilst I went into hospital. All the staff were most kind and dealt with her most sympathetically. She had happy memories when she left.
We were lucky to find this care home for our parents in May 2024, both suffer from dementia. From start to finish all the staff were extremely helpful in what was a distressing time in accepting that our parents need 24/7 care. The care home provides a safe, clean, supportive and friendly environment and an understanding about dementia. They are quick to respond to queries and keep us up to date. The family room is helpful for visits. Dealing with dementia takes a certain skill and patience which the care home has.
I am basing this review on my visit to the care home today and with an issue last week which has made me feel very disappointed with The Lodge. My mother was left on the bed with food spilling out of her mouth onto her nightdress after she fell asleep. My mother has dementia. Last week my mother was left lying on a wet sheet!
In the year or so that my uncle has been a resident, we, as a family, have been able to relax knowing he is being well cared for by all the staff who genuinely care for his physical and mental well-being. They are all so friendly and helpful, and on his return from a short stay in the hospital, welcome him back with genuine warmth, this goes for management too, taking the time and trouble to make sure he settled in and had all he needed.
Overall, we are very happy with the care and support given to my uncle, who is now in his second year at The Lodge. In particular, staff are kind and caring. The food is good. Access to medical support (GP, district nurse) is relatively swift, and communication with us, as next of kin, is prompt and thorough. Staff are friendly, welcoming and understanding. There is a family atmosphere, which my uncle really appreciates.
My mother needed to move into 24-hour care due to having a number of falls, together with increasing signs of dementia. She has been made welcome and has settled in well into her new environment. The activity support is excellent and she enjoyed outside trips. The staff are kind, caring and professional. The management team is very supportive and I really appreciate the communication they provide - they respond quickly to my questions or concerns, liaise with outside organisations and give me a lot of confidence that they are on top of everything.
As soon as I visited The Lodge, I knew it was the place I wanted Mum to be. She has been a resident since Dec 23 and we can't find fault in the care and attention she has received. It's been wonderful to experience peace of mind knowing she is well looked after. The environment is clean and bright and we always enjoy our visits. All the staff are friendly and take time to chat and get to know us. A special mention for all the excellent activities to keep the residents occupied and engaged. If we had known that taking Mum into residential care would be like this, I'm sure we would have been able to tackle this tricky step so much sooner. Thank you to all at The Lodge.
Thank you so much to all the staff at The Lodge Care Home. You all have been fantastic with my dad. Yes, he can be grumpy, can’t we all but you are there to pick him up and you all do. From the front desk to all care nurses, the chefs, managers, maintenance and anyone else who I may have forgotten. You all deserve to be mentioned. Well done all and keep up the good work, I could not recommend The Lodge Care Home any higher than I am now. Great location, and great staff and the food must be decent as dad has put on a little weight! Excellent stuff, you should all be proud of what you are doing, looking after the elderly! See you soon.
My only qualification for writing this review is that I tried to look after my wife for 2 years or more as her dementia progressed until she went into The Lodge. I do think well of The Lodge and I'm very grateful for the way they do their job. All the staff seem to be fond of the residents. The residents, not only my wife seem to be well looked after. One could wish there were more staff but there probably are enough.
In November 2022 I took a confused, anxious 88-year-old lady to The Lodge Care Home. The lady was my aunt. She had until that point been living independently with the help of a full care package. A member of staff greeted us as we arrived. She had been appointed to support my aunt throughout, to ensure she settled in well with as little fuss as possible. This she did very professionally. Within a few days, I could see a complete change in my aunt, both physically and mentally. I did not expect my aunt to ever leave her room as she never socialised but within a short time, she had fully integrated. She can stay in her room if she wishes but in the main, I find her in the lounge with her new family. For many years my aunt had been instantly asking me to help her take her own life. She no longer does this. The staff are knowledgeable efficient and able to deal with any difficult situation that may arise. They did this quietly and calmly whilst maintaining a cheerful, happy and friendly atmosphere in the home.
I regularly visit my sister-in-law and feel she is being very well looked after and I think her health has improved since she has been at The Lodge Care Home. The staff are all very caring and friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. I would definitely recommend this care home.
My dad has only been in The Lodge Care Home for two days, so this is my review based on first impressions. I have no experience of care home so I didn't know what to expect. I have been really impressed by what I have seen at The Lodge. Everything is clean and fresh and it all has a bright, cheery atmosphere. Rooms and facilities are excellent. ANd best of all, the staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. They are a pleasure to deal with and are very professional. I am very happy that my dad is here.
It is an excellent home, couldn't have found a better one. Management and all staff are excellent, couldn't have wished for any better, they are all so caring and supportive.
As a sister of a resident in The Lodge Care Home, I find all staff friendly, kind, helpful and informative.
Since Mum became a resident of The Lodge Care Home, she has settled down very well. The facilities are very good and well catered for her needs. The staff have been very caring and respectful to my mum. Any of the issues I have raised regarding my mum have been rectified in a timely manner. I am very pleased with the quality and service and would recommend this care home to others.
Very lovely home. Very friendly, and was able to go to see her room. The family room is lovely, my friend is very happy here.
The care team at The Lodge Care Home organised a party on the birthday of my mother helping all her guests to have a great time. This demonstrates the care for the residents and nothing was too much trouble. Great time had by all.
My mother recently moved into The Lodge and my family has visited her a number of times. Both her and her family are extremely pleased and very impressed with the facility and all the staff who are very caring and professional and friendly. My mother is very happy in her new home.
