View Full Details of Elstree View Care Home - Avery CollectionMy dad moved into Elstre View Care Home in October. The staff have all come out of their way to help him settle in and he is now an active member of the community. He has lived more in the last 3 months than he has in the last three years. He is very comfortable, happy and safe and I can visit him as his daughter and share in his happiness.
It is a real pleasure and greatly reassuring to see my father-in-law cared for as an individual with respect and dignity in such nice surroundings and with kind and attentive and capable staff.
A wonderful refurbishment, just like a 5 star hotel.
Overall a good experience. The fact that a major refurbishment was taking place meant a lot of banging at times. Joined in and enjoyed almost all activities. Standard of room cleaning and bed making poor. The staff very good at remembering and using my name.
Here for a short respite stay. Found the staff all very helpful and kind. No issue too much.
Elstree View, in the 4 or so months since my cousin has been a resident there, has made her feel totally at home. I visit her at least once or twice a week, and can clearly see how relaxed, cared for and happy she is. A big thank you to the staff, carers and all involved. I cannot find one negative thing to say. She has lost all the anxious feelings she had in her flat, she is eating and sleeping better.
The care provided for my dad on the Orchard floor is excellent, he is always treated with good humour and kindness, and well looked after. Regular reports from the staff are comprehensive and informative, and his needs are well met.
The care provided here for mum is exceptional. She is treated with respect, dignity and kindness and as she is so vulnerable this is truly a gift. All the staff do everything they can to make her experience a good one and the integrity, comradery and humour is palpable here. It is not just a home for mum it is her home. Thank you so much.
We really notice how each resident not just my mum is treated individually specifically with so much care and patience, kindness and lovingly. Despite all the difficult circumstances the staff find themselves dealing with it is always done well, brilliantly actually. Food is always great mum always clean, always something going on for her. We couldn't be any more reassured in her being in the best place she could be. Thank you with all my heart.
My mum has been at Elstree View now for nearly 2 years. During this time there have been many changes to her needs. At every change point mum's needs have been reviewed and whatever is needed has been put in place. The staff at all levels have been kind, caring and responsive and no matter how much we need to talk, I never feel rushed or not listened to. it feels like a real team effort which is much appreciated. As mum's health deteriorated the Home and our family felt that it was time for mum to move to Orchids. This has been a big transition for us as a family. Mum however has settled well and we are so glad she made the transition. I can only commend the staff on their patience especially with me, as I was the one struggling with seeing her needing a different kind of care. The staff both in Orchids and Assisted Living are wonderful. We could not have wished for anything more in a care home and I would recommend it to anyone looking for the very best in care for their loved one.
Although I've put 'May 2023', my review relates to my friend's stay for the last year or so of his life. He was cared for really well and would never have had such a dignified end of life without the care and support of the home and all the staff.
My 96-year-old uncle finally agreed to move to a care home after several years of doggedly trying to retain his independence. We, his family and his friends were concerned about his ability to continue living independently. We were glad when all other options were rejected in favour of moving to a care home. We arranged a visit to Elstree View and were very happy to find that members of staff remembered him from a previous stay to convalesce following surgery and made him very welcome. Further discussion achieved agreement and he now resides happily at Elstree View in a very nice flat where he has integrated into the community. It is evident that he is receiving excellent care and is fed regularly and well. He is gently and respectfully treated and his health is monitored and I receive regular reports. It is a pleasure to deal with the staff and our concerns about his living standards and safeguarding have been addressed.
My mother has been a resident at Elstree Avery Care Home since December 2022. During this time she has enjoyed being part of the Avery family. The staff here are so caring and look after each and every resident. There is always plenty to occupy the residents through the day, ie daily quizzes, entertainers, and playing Scrabble or other table games. The food provided in the lovely dining room at breakfast, lunch and dinner is of a high quality. My mother enjoys sitting in The Bistro, having morning coffee and afternoon tea when she chats with the other residents. Every month there are at least four outings to interesting places and some are cinema or theatre trips. Mum has really enjoyed these outings. Thank you all at Elstree for your kindness.
I have found the staff caring and attentive to my mother. I found that when she first moved into Elstree View, the staff were well acquainted with her needs. Carried out a pre-assessment view when she was in the hospital and complied with her dietary requirements.
I live in Israel, in a senior citizen community, and was really keen to visit my family and friends in London. But I know that I cannot cope alone in a hotel. My sons heard about Elstree View and one of them visited a while ago, then reported to me that he was confident about my staying with you for a short time. I do not need help with the basics of life, I self-medicate and can shower and dress myself, though I do need a stick for balance etc. I found every member of staff understood my strengths and my weaknesses so that I was confident at all times. I entertained friends for sandwich lunches, and exactly what I had asked for appeared on the table in the Family Room at the right time. We were offered drinks and served beautifully. In every respect I can say that Elstree View and all the staff can be proud of the way that I experienced my ten days with you. Thank you for everything.
Both my parents relocated to 'Elstree View Care Home' several years ago. When my father died, my mother continued to be cared for by the home and has since moved to the reminiscence facility. I have come to know the leadership staff very well, especially during both transitions; and have become better acquainted with the new key staff members and carers over the last few years. As I live in the USA and cannot visit very often, the connection to the team is critical: they have become my new UK 'family'. They keep me incredibly well and regularly informed as to my mother's well-being; changes in circumstances; and specific needs. I feel completely confident that she is receiving excellent care; and this is consistently backed up by what I see during my visits: patient, attentive and gentle treatment of my mother. While she cannot talk much, the smile on her face when she interacts with the carers assures me that she is comfortable with and respected by them. Exemplary!
Being a volunteer at Elstree is very rewarding, to see the residents' faces light up when I walk through the door says it all. I am made most welcome by the concierge team who I often see interacting with family members, residents and staff. As busy as they are they go that extra mile. A big shout out to the dining room staff who are so attentive, serving all the residents with a smile. The atmosphere is warm, cosy and very homely. You need to have a big heart working in a care home, everyone at Elstree View certainly has one. This home is top-notch, I am giving it a 5-star rating.
The care home team became Mum's second family during her two years of being a resident. The care given came from the heart, not something that can be taught. From the office staff, domestic service team, reception team, laundry team and carers we thank you all. Elstree runs like a well-oiled machine, never failing to provide in all areas. When Mum became unwell the support shown to her and us was exemplary. Whenever we left after visiting we knew she was in good hands and that if a problem did arise the nursing team/carers would keep us updated with any information while also liaising with outside medical teams. The dignity shown in her final days will never be forgotten. The support to me while spending time with mum, people popping in to ensure I was ok, cups of tea and reassurance that if I needed anything “just ask”. As a family we highly recommend Elstree.
Having visited Elstree View on several occasions, I have found the staff very friendly and the residents happy and engaged with the great activity programme. Very clean home, with nice menu choices. Would recommend this home as it has the wow factor.
Absolutely brilliant service support care across all staff and all members of the team. This is absolutely and continually impressive and really wonderful. It is really comforting and secure to know the level of support and help.
