View Full Details of Vesta LodgeThis is the sixth time my husband has been in respite in five different care homes. Vesta Lodge so far has been the best one on every level. It is bright and inviting, spotlessly clean, and his absolutely no smell of stale urine like other homes. The staff are fantastic, friendly and very caring. I just cannot fault this home in any way.
My Father has been a resident in the home for several years. During his time in your care, we have always found the facilities to be clean and well-maintained. The staff, including the Manager and senior carer, have been very kind and caring. We recently enjoyed a lovely Dinner Party, arranged for residents and their families, prepared by the catering team. It was a fun evening, and the staff had gone to a lot of trouble to decorate the room and ensure everyone had a great time.
The home manager and her team are absolutely amazing at what they do, deliver amazing care and make everyone feel welcome. My mum initially came to Vesta Lodge for 2 weeks respite and it was decided it's in her best interests to stay permanently as she needs more care than can be provided at home. Mum attends the Q club daily and as a result she's a lot brighter and talkative when anyone visits her. If you are looking for a caring place to put a loved one for a short stay or a more permanent take a look around you will not be disappointed.
The staff are amazing and take such good care of my mom. Everyone has been so kind to us during this difficult time and nothing has been too much trouble. Such a learning curve made easier by yourselves. Thank you.
My mother was a resident for 3 years and we have nothing but praise and admiration for the staff in how they looked after her and the patience and kindness they showed. She sadly passed away recently (very peacefully) and the manager and the staff have been very supportive. With the care industry in such a precarious position it is good to know that Vesta Lodge is here to look after those in our society who cannot fend for themselves and that their work continues to benefit families such as ours.
Our Dad, who has Dementia, moved into Vesta Lodge St Albans at the start of February 2024. My family and I have been very happy with the care and support received during a stressful time. The care home manager in particular was extremely supportive and understanding for us, which helped us through the initial stages of transitioning Dad into full-time care. The rooms, are well equipped and are bright and airy. The cleanliness is very good and the team make a big effort to get to know Dad and us as a family. My Mum is now able to sit and talk with Dad, and he is now responding positively back to her, something which was a challenge prior. Dad is kept clean and tidy, and the care provided is professional. We would highly recommend Vesta Lodge.
Mum was looked after brilliantly with care and compassion. And Dad always appreciated having a cup of tea made for him when he visited! The food was clearly homemade, a good variety and very tasty (I had to try it when assisting Mum!) Vesta Lodge was always clean and decorated according to the season. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it!
My mum moved to Vesta Lodge in December. She is very happy here. She says the staff and fellow residents are all friendly and helpful.
My mother has been receiving regular respite at Vesta Lodge over the last two years. Her most recent stay was in January 2024. My sister and I appreciate the continuity and familiarity for my mother as she has memory loss/dementia and becomes anxious and agitated about respite care. There is always a kind and friendly welcome for us from the care home manager. The atmosphere is relaxed and easy, and the staff are welcoming and helpful. The dining room and seating areas are attractive and bright. The menu varied and looked tasty. My mother has stayed in some attractive rooms overlooking trees and with the sound of children playing in the school nearby. The staff will keep me informed of any significant events and facilitate daily phone calls for Mum as she is unable to use a mobile. They will manage most issues, and this gives us a break, which is a real help to then be able to continue to support and care for my mother at home. Thanks also to the adult care services.
Everything is quite satisfactory, apart from the cleanliness of the individual room, we have to wipe down the table and chair at least twice a week. The staff are efficient in every other aspect, this includes the office staff.
When my aunt moved to Vesta Lodge with dementia recently it was an extremely stressful time for my family, especially her partner. We had no idea what to expect really, and this was our first contact with a care home. Other reviews here mention the great facilities for residents - and my aunt is settling in well - but I wanted to focus on the wise and compassionate support that my family received from the manager at Vesta Lodge, which has made a huge difference for us. The manager's kindness was so reassuring for us at a very painful time, and her wise words have helped us to not only do what's best for our aunt but to take better care of her partner; she removed a lot of guilt and anxiety from this difficult situation (which were helping no one). It's the people that make these places, isn't it, at the end of the day, and we feel very lucky that this team are there for us. Thanks all!
Mum was at Vesta Lodge for two weeks respite care and we are so happy with how the team looked after Mum. Everyone was so welcoming and attentive to Mum’s needs which gave us great peace of mind knowing she was in safe hands. Vesta Lodge has a very homely feeling with staff who care for the people as if they were their own family. I’ve had dealings with quite a few care homes and Vesta Lodge is one of the very best.
The admin staff are very polite and welcoming. The care manager is always willing to listen to us and to resolve any issues we may have. The carers are helpful and treat my husband with care and respect. The staff overall are brilliant. The rooms could be cleaner.
As purely a person visiting a resident, I have nothing but praise for the care she receives.
Vesta Lodge has been a very positive experience for my Mum and our whole family. I am so grateful that everyone has taken the time to get to know my Mum really well. I feel that she is always treated with dignity, kindness and respect. Thank you to the manager and all her team, particularly all the carers on Mum's unit.
My experience so far has been positive. My Dad came initially for respite as a family we decided his needs were better met at Vesta Lodge. He is safe, has a routine, food and contact with others. The staff have been supportive and available. I would like my Dad to have more exercise, he was previously very active so combined, his lack of exercise and three meals a day, he has put on a lot of weight. My concern is health implications. I have discussed this with staff. Otherwise, the placement currently meets my Dad's needs. Thanks.
Hot meals could be warmer.
Clean. Lovely staff. Well-run.
Very happy, very good and pleased.
Our 100-year-old aunt has been in Vesta Lodge Care Home since January 2023 and we have been extremely impressed by the quality of care provided by the staff there. She is always clean and well-dressed and her room is always spotless. All the staff are caring and thoughtful and take time to talk to her and make her feel at home. Communication between the manager, carers and admin staff is excellent and they are all fully aware of how she is and of any issues she may have. She is very settled and very appreciative of how she is being looked after – as are we.
