View Full Details of The ChestnutsMum has been a resident in The Chestnuts since the start of lockdown in March 2020. She went in for a trial month and never wanted to leave. Chestnuts has been a godsend to me and my two sisters as we all live a distance from Meopham. More importantly, Mum loves living there. She enjoys the company, the food which is plentiful, the entertainment, especially the sparkles and motivation, visits from singers and entertainers, trips out, and like last week tea and cake at Millbrooks. Mum is also very religious and she appreciates the various services especially the communion service provided by the local clergy on site. The staff are all very kind and friendly and nothing is too much effort. Mum has unfortunately had a few falls recently, but she has always been helped quickly and given the appropriate care that's needed. We are grateful to the staff for that and for always keeping us informed. Five stars for the Manager, all the staff, the home itself and the lovely gardens!
Mum has been in The Chestnuts for almost 3 years now, she is unstable on her feet and has had a couple of falls resulting in broken bones, however the staff are quick to call an ambulance before calling me. The manager has been amazing at going into Darenth Valley to ensure we can get Mum discharged, usually as the care she is receiving in the hospital is so poor, Chestnuts feel they can give her better attention back at the home. When she is back she is showered, hair washed and lovely clean clothes, I feel like they take care of her like she is a relative of their own. We wouldn't want to move her anywhere else and only pray that The Chestnuts is her final resting home. The place she calls 'home'.
My mum has been a resident for 4 months. She has settled quickly and is very happy with her care. The staff are very kind and helpful. She particularly enjoys the quizzes and musical entertainment. She is really looking forward to her next trip out as she had a wonderful time on the riverboat excursion in Yalding. Visitors are made very welcome.
My mum has been a resident of The Chestnuts for five years and has always been very happy there. The surroundings and facilities are excellent. The staff have always been very attentive, caring, friendly and kept us very well informed about everything to do with my mum's well being and health. They have arranged doctors and hospital appointments, eye and hearing tests and anything else that may have been needed.
My dad is very happy at The Chestnuts, the staff are very kind and look after him very well. They are very professional and always friendly to relatives and visitors. Thanks to all the staff involved in Dad's care.
Professional and courteous staff. Very competent and caring. Attentive to my Father's needs. Facilities are good but catering appears to be of less quality than his previous residency. Heating in his room has been an issue but that appears to have been resolved now.
Mum has been a resident at The Chestnuts since January 2024. We were so happy and relieved to be offered a place for her at The Chestnuts after viewing several other accommodations. The small family feel gives it a home-from-home feel. Each member of staff seems to know each resident and their individual needs. There is always something for them to join in with if they wish to and mum particularly likes getting her nails and hair done. As a family, we are immensely grateful for the kindness, care and friendliness shown by everybody at The Chestnuts.
A wonderful caring home which is all about the residents and their individual needs. The staff are all very friendly, kind and helpful. There are lots of activities and entertainment for the residents to enjoy, which is lovely for them and helps them keep mentally and physically active. The garden is beautiful and such a lovely place to sit outside in the summer. I am very happy with my mum's care and she is happy to be in The Chestnuts.
All staff at The Chestnuts have a very caring down to earth approach. Always going the extra mile for residents. Any concerns and communications are dealt with professionally and efficiently. I always rate a home, would I be happy here? The answer is a yes!
The Chestnuts have provided my mother with stability and care that I am happy with. Always a difficult time for relatives and decisions to be made but the staff work very hard and are caring. The communication between the care home and the resident's family is really excellent. The care manager is very approachable and efficient in my opinion. There are lots of activities going on if you wish to take part and residents are treated with respect. It is a pleasure to visit my mother and have a chat with staff and other residents. The staff have made a difficult time in my mother's life much less stressful.
Mum is very happy with the care and attention she receives at The Chestnuts as am I which makes the whole of our family content in the knowledge that she is safe and able to get help quickly if needed. The staff are wonderful with the residents and treat them with dignity, helping them as and when required. There has recently been an issue with the lift not working for several weeks which has now been resolved and a new lift is scheduled to be fitted soon. This caused a little anguish with some of the residents but again the staff were marvellous and worked even harder to reassure and help.
We are generally more than satisfied with the service provided at The Chestnuts. There are two words to describe our perception of Mum's life at The Chestnuts, these are 'Care' and 'Home'. They care; she feels at home. Priceless!
My mum has stayed at The Chestnuts for respite several times over the last few years and has always thoroughly enjoyed her stay there. Last year she decided that she wanted to become a full-time resident. Mum is now 98 years old and has become very frail. She is treated with much kindness and respect, which gives me great peace of mind. I would certainly recommend this lovely caring home.
The Chestnuts is a privately run residential home. My father has been a resident for eighteen months. He is 96 and it took him six months to adjust to his new life. The home is exceptional, I cannot fault the staff. They are cheerful, caring and very competent. My dad loves being there. He never used to be a social man, but the staff at The Chestnuts bring the very best out of him, he is teased, loved and treated as an important member of the home. The staff make a lot of effort to ensure all the residents are kept active mentally and physically, there are daily quizzes, talks and music to keep the residents engaged. A great example of how to look after the elderly.
When it became clear my mother could no longer manage on her own, we began to search for a care home that would suit her and we looked at many. Nowhere seemed as nice as The Chestnuts Care Home and she has been living there now for nearly three years. We, the family, have had peace of mind ever since. She is still very independent but the extra layer of attention and support means she can live comfortably while being discreetly looked after. The carers are kind and friendly and go the extra mile for their residents. The managers are excellent, great communication, keeping family informed. Beautiful garden with very useful cabin for family visits. Sometimes Mum has said the food could be better but overall very satisfied.
I was a friend and lasting power of attorney of a resident at The Chestnuts. She had resided there for seven and a half years and was always well cared for in every aspect and from the beginning, she never regretted her move. Her spiritual needs were met with bible study and Eucharist monthly, plus craft afternoons, entertainment and outings, a river trip being her favourite. She was also diabetic and she was well-catered for. In December her health started to fail, increasingly so in January, when she passed away. During this period of time, the already exceptional care, increased. The attention to every aspect of her needs was second to none, but the love and dignity shown at her passing were wonderful.
I have been in this care home for eight years and ten months. I am very happy and the care is very good. I can't fault anything. It gives my family peace of mind to know I am well cared for. The staff are all kind and helpful. We have a lot going on and it's our choice whether we join in. Please yourself when you do.
I am so grateful for the care and support that my nan received from all of the staff members. This truly was a home from home for my Nan and I felt at ease knowing she was being cared for in such a lovely environment with brilliant facilities. One Friday afternoon, I came to visit my Nan and there was a singer who was so inclusive of all residents, including me and it really lifted their spirits and was so lovely to see! Nan even got her hair and nails done whilst she was here! Special mention to one member of staff, in particular, who was so lovely to Nan and all of the family and who she continues to speak very fondly of! 5* service and a 5* review from me! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Well let’s just say I wouldn’t want to go into any other home but The Chestnuts, it’s home from home. The duty of care is remarkable! You can’t fault anything in this home. The staff always go above and beyond to keep all residents happy and arrange all activities from making cakes to boat trips or even a trip to Bluewater. Management are so friendly and understanding.
A wonderful caring home which is all about the residents and their individual needs. It feels like a family and the carers really do care. I am very happy with my mum's care and feel at ease when I say goodbye when I leave.
