View Full Details of Green GablesMy mother, who is 101, was referred to Green Gables for respite after a fall. I cannot praise the set-up and the staff more highly. The staff were all kind and attentive and the food was excellent. My mother was reluctant to leave! Many thanks to all.
We are really impressed at the level of great care the staff have offered my mum. They have made her comfortable and stable in her surroundings Thank you Green Gables keep up the good work.
Arrived to find nan sitting in the communal area in urine-drenched clothes and very distressed. She had been telling staff that she needed the toilet but they were having a staff meeting so told her that she would have to wait! Even when we approached them to request that they supported her they started by trying to tell us the same, i.e., that she would have to wait. Clearly, someone thought better of the decision, probably just because we were there, and decided to make some staff available to change her. But she was already distressed and humiliated. I cannot believe that elderly people who are vulnerable and defenceless can be treated like this. Unfortunately, standards in this establishment have reduced dramatically in the past couple of years. It was not so long ago that mice were eating nan's biscuits that were kept in the drawer of her bedside cabinet.
Green Gables was not a luxury hotel but the attention and care given to my uncle was simply 'the best' during the final two weeks of his life. I was welcomed on each and every visit I made and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were busy but they gave my uncle the comfort, safety and respect he needed. For that, I am and always will be grateful. You all deserve medals for the work you do.
