View Full Details of St Heliers Residential HotelMy mother, a resident at St Helier's, had her 100th birthday today and I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for the wonderful birthday experience you arranged for Mum under very difficult weather conditions and with COVID limitations in place. I cannot praise their constant attention to my mum enough and a special mention to one member of staff in particular for her continued care.
After considering many other care homes in the local area for my elderly mother, I and my family finally decided that St. Helier's offered everything that we had hoped for. The view of the Leas and the sea are surpassed only by the excellent service offered to residents including a superb and varied menu, that having eaten here myself, I found delicious. I would certainly recommend the St Helier's Residential Hotel and it's staff to anyone looking for a safe and caring environment either for themselves or for their elderly relatives. The residence itself has common areas that are clean, warm and comfortable. The individual rooms that I have seen have easy access, are light and airy, tastefully furnished, allowing for personal items and artefacts pictures etc to give a more homely feel. The staff are always polite helpful and friendly, extremely professional but always warm and approachable.
We are living in unprecedented times; anxieties about our loved ones, and our inability to visit them in this period of isolation and lockdown, a prompt stark reminder of our dependence on the front line staff who care for them. I’m writing to pay tribute to everyone at St Helier's, the carers, cleaners, chefs and managers, who continue to offer love, support, reassurance and comfort to all the residents in their care. Their professionalism is second to none, and I cannot praise or thank them enough for their commitment and dedication despite fears for their own health and that of their families. My 91-year-old aunt moved into St H in September. St H sent me a video of her and her dog Penny, tucked up, safe and secure in the midst of the crisis which threatens us all. Thank you for this inspired gesture, thank you for your ongoing communications, thank you for everything you do. Stay safe and take care.
Such a lovely care home. My nan has a been a resident of St Helier's for around about a year and I have been so pleased with how the home has cared for my nan. My nan always looks cared for and well presented whenever we pop in unannounced. Her room is lovely and spacious and the facilities are good - there is a nice reception room and restaurant so visiting nan is easy. We celebrated her 99th birthday recently and the family were able to visit and celebrate. The staff were so accomodating. My nan is able to be taken out along the seafront for fresh air and ice cream which she loves. The residents are always treated with respect and as adults. My dad and I want to pre-book our places now. Our thanks to the lovely staff of St Helier's.
All the staff at St Helier's have been fantastic during the current Covid-19 pandemic. They have kept me and my family up to date with my father's care and wellbeing and have even sent me a video message from him. They have also said that we can send video messages to them that they will share with him. It is reassuring to know that my dad is being so well looked after during these times and beyond.
It has given our family great peace of mind that our father is so happy and content with life at St Helier's. I have witnessed, on many occasions, how the staff interact with residents in a very respectful and genuinely caring manner. These qualities are so very important for us, ensuring our father's dignity was upheld as he reached his later years. In addition, the food is of a very high quality which I have had, the pleasure of tasting on many occasions! Cakes in particular! Thank you St Helier's for all that you do!
We were fortunate to be able to place our elderly father in St Heliers during July and August 2019 for respite care, while we waited for a place to become available at a care home nearer to relatives. He was allocated a nice big, airy room overlooking the bandstand, park and sea, which had private facilities. We were always welcomed when we visited, and senior staff made an effort to keep in touch via email and phone when we were unable to visit. Staff were always friendly and very efficient, nothing was ever too much trouble. I would recommend this care home without reservation.
St Helier's was recommended to me as a suitable place for respite care. I had a total hip replacement on 6th July and spent 12 days there, from 9th - 20th July. I received excellent, personal care and was treated with kindness and dignity. The care helped me to build up my confidence and to return home. There is a lovely, caring atmosphere. there.
I have always been welcomed and treated exceptionally at St Helier's, first of all visiting my sister, who lived and died there over 6 1/2 years. This month (May 2019) I was lucky enough to spend 10 days there and was treated as an old friend and loved. The food is excellent and plenty of it over the day. Cups of tea or coffee always on offer. I couldn't, as usual, stay with my niece as she lives in a top floor flat and I am aged 90. I have had a wonderful time in Kent!
My mother first came here five years ago and the very high standard has been maintained over that period.
My husband and I were given a very warm welcome, and we were impressed by the entrance hall. The (double) room on the ground floor was warm and comfortable and the ensuite was very clean. However, there was no shelf over or near the basin and no hooks to hang clothes. Husband has rheumatoid arthritis in both hands and needed a good space/shelf. My husband reported that the meals were of a good standard, staff were friendly, helpful and cheerful, attentive and aware of his disabilities as he needs support with his walking. We intend to use the hotel again - husband was very happy there for 2 weeks. I (his wife and carer) hope to have another break in the early summer and will be happy and reassured that my husband will be well looked after.
St Heliers Residential Home provides my elderly mother with the most excellent care and attention. My mother is well looked after and the staff are so caring and efficient, organising interesting activities and feeding back to me mums progress. I would recommend St Heliers above other homes. My mother is so happy.
The staff look after the residents with love and endless patience. They treat everyone with respect and dignity and go to great lengths to ensure that their needs are met - both physical and emotional. The home is described as a residential hotel, and each resident is able to choose whether they eat in their room or in the dining room, and can decide how much they want to join in with social activities. As a relative, my input is always welcomed and I have full trust in the staff to do their very best for my aunt.
My client always appears well cared for and content. She enjoys the meals and activities. The staff are always friendly and approachable.
At the age of 99 and a half, and following a series of falls, our mother had to leave her home and moved into a room at St Heliers. She found the loss of her independence difficult to adjust to initially but relatively quickly she began to appreciate her room as a safe place to be, and the staff as friends. She recently passed away aged 100 and we, her immediate family, have the greatest admiration of and gratitude to the staff and management of St Heliers for the way they cared for her over the 6 months she was there. This was particularly true as she neared her end when she required more intensive care and medication. St Heliers has a very close link with the local surgery and doctors or district nurses were promptly available when required. As relations, we were always welcomed and kept informed.
The care given to my aunt was amazing. She did so well in respite that she did not want to leave. It's an amazing retirement home and the staff are truly professional, friendly and bend over backwards to help. We will certainly use them again. Well done team! A million thanks.
My first holiday in 7 years and not knowing these residential hotels existed I was genuinely surprised at the cleanliness and the amount of staff made available to me. All day and night someone is in attendance to you, their friendliness and caring obvious from the offset. Nothing was too much trouble. Waited on hand and foot. Management were excellent and the food was various and wholesome. I would love the opportunity to visit with them again and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending St Helier's to anyone looking for a home from home experience. A truly lovely holiday.
Good service, staff most helpful and friendly at all times. Good food, residents are happy and satisfied. Very clean in the hotel rooms, would like to come again sometime.
My friend/neighbour has been at St Helier's for 2 years and has nothing but praise for the staff and the food and care he has had. I would recommend St Helier's to anyone for respite or long term care.
This care home has an excellent balance of first-rate care and compassion while also having the comfortable feel of a private home. All the rooms are different so there is a suitable one for all requirement. The staff fro the owner and managers right through to the cleaners are well trained, helpful and always friendly and compassionate. The situation, half a block from the pedestrian Folkestone Leas with lawns and walking area is ideal so that residents can walk without having to brave traffic and the town centre is also within easy reach. I wholeheartedly recommend this care home.
