View Full Details of Tulipa HouseVisited the home for a day, and the atmosphere was calm, staff were joining in activities with clients playing ball games. Some clients were sat with management who welcomed them into their offices without hesitation. Home smelt and looked clean. Clients looked happy. No matter how busy the staff got they always had time to stop and give the clients the attention they wanted.
My Mum was at Mont Calm for over a year. She had advanced dementia and diabetes. Covid allowed them to hide the appalling care she received, a chiropodist had never looked at her feet and it was only when I began making serious complaints did they get someone in. By this time the nails on her big toes were over an inch long. Members of management became very confrontational and threatening. Visiting became very stressful and I was more and more worried for my Mum's safety. Even before the issues arose, the manager would hardly ever respond to my emails or calls and there was always some sort of excuse. The building itself is in a terrible condition with windows nailed shut to stop them falling out, toilet seats hanging off, rusty hoists in bathrooms, and paint and plaster hanging from walls and ceilings to name but a few. By the time my Mum left she had lost so much weight and looked so ill it was heart breaking. I would absolutely NOT recommend putting your loved ones in this home.
Care home unable to provide chiropractor or hairdresser. The nurse is very difficult to arrange sometimes waiting 48 to 60 hours to attend. My father's finger and toenails have never been cut. Information from management has been non-existent. Moved rooms without being informed. Read garden is extremely dangerous with corroded fire staircase not cordoned off and shed doors left open. Family fights for information. No straight answers. Each member of staff is inconsistent with answers.
I wanted my dad to stay here because the manager took the time to talk to me and actively encouraged me to write his life story so they could better help him communicate and understand him. They take notice of and work around the needs of the individual to give everyone the best experience possible. We can all wish our loved ones did not have to live in residential care, so it's a great relief when you know they are being well looked after. COVID restrictions have meant that I've only been able to see photos of his room, but hoping that will change very soon.
My father is a resident at Mont Calm. Staff looked after my father very well and he is not the easiest of people by far. -Managed - excellent -Staff - excellent -Overall standard - Excellent
