View Full Details of The Island Residential HomeMy relative seems to have settled in well. After living alone for a long time, she now enjoys the company of fellow residents and also likes her room and the views from it. We have found all staff and the manager always helpful and approachable, happy to deal with any issues/requests that we have. Overall, we're happy with the care that our relative has been given and pleased that she seems happy there - thank you!
Been here for two weeks on respite care and have thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff are all amazing and want to make your time with them as good as possible. The property is wheelchair accessible and is very good. The garden is well accessible. The food is all home-cooked and plenty of it. My room was very large with its own shower. Great place to stay.
The care at The Island Residential Home is very good, and the care staff are very kind and helpful.
I spent nine months living in the care home and I must say when I first arrived, I was really scared not knowing what to expect, but my fears were completely unjust. I was there due to an accident I had at work. The staff are wonderful, they really looked after me. They treated me with respect, dignity, love and care! They were there for me on my low days as well as my happy days and l will never be able to repay them! They work so so hard! If I ever needed the support of a care home in the future, I wouldn't hesitate in returning to The Island Residential Home, Leysdown. Thank you so so much.
Our mother is receiving excellent care. We were very hesitant about putting her into care, but her dementia behaviour was getting too challenging. We were thrilled to see her settle so quickly in her lovely room. We have a regular video call with her each week during Covid, which reassures us that she is safe and very happy. We have an assigned carer who organises these and have formed a great relationship.
Mostly good. Staff are friendly and caring. A smile goes a long way! Usually answer the phone when I ring to ask for buzzer to be at hand or charge his phone. Biggest problem is no visiting due to lockdown! Dealing with a difficult situation with compassion!
The staff are great, the love and care they gave my grandad was amazing; they were so helpful. He loved his day trips and the activities that the staff did with the residents
Convivial company, humorous company.
Only used for three nights, four days but have found no trouble. Have a lot of work going on at present. It will be very nice once done.
I cannot praise enough all the staff and management for the excellent way they looked after my darling wife. Being my first experience of respite, I was to say the least very concerned - all my fears seem to have been unnecessary. My wife looked very content and relaxed when I picked her up - well done everybody.
Such a lovely relaxed home. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. It's a lovely bright friendly home. It feels like a very friendly home from home place. My mum loves it there. Lots of activities to join in and trips out. I'm always kept informed of any changes too. Can't fault it!
I personally chose the Island Residential Home to move my mum to from another home. The Island Residential Home is spacious, the care the staff give is very attentive, the facilities at the home are a good standard. Activities are given regularly - residents are involved with all sorts of activities and crafts. The home has a lovely garden area where regular activities take place. There is always something to stimulate resident's minds.
When my wife went into this care home I was a bit worried about it. Online, it showed you it was a bit run down by overgrown plants over the balcony and the grounds were the same, but when I arrived I was surprised to see what they had done to change this. The lady who ran the place was very nice and assured me everything would be alright. I needn't have worried, it was all good. The whole staff took very good care of her and they all took to her and made her stay a very good one. Very well done.
The staff warmly welcomed me with every visit to my mum including offers of a cuppa with an update regarding my mum. I witnessed how kind, caring and attentive staff were in making every effort to meet the needs of residents in a cheerful and friendly manner despite a difficult and demanding role. As my mum has dementia, it was not possible for her to comment on the Island but she seemed settled with no signs of distress and maintained her appetite which is always a good sign. I did chat with other residents who said how lovely the home is and how happy they are there. The period of my mum staying at the Island was a difficult one, having to make decisions about her long term needs but after talking to several staff, they were very understanding and provided sound advice and reassurance. The manager was also extremely helpful and supportive which was much appreciated. Yes, the interior does look shabby and in need of an update but the care I can not fault & that was more important to me. So thank you, everyone, for your kindness and hard work.
Since I came here straight from hospital, I was in a very bad way health wise, as well as my mental health. Since Jan 2016 the home has helped me in many ways. Helping me with some of my problems regarding my medical and mental health. I'm not quite there yet but with their help, I'm looking forward to the years to come!
