View Full Details of Littlebourne HouseOur mother has been a resident at Littlebourne House for over three years and has not always been the easiest of residents. Nevertheless, she has been treated with kindness, dignity and respect and we know that she is surrounded by love. The staff are compassionate and dedicated professionals and we know that mum's best interests are at the heart of everything they do. We could not have found a better home for our mother and this has given us peace of mind during some challenging times.
We arranged for my aunt and uncle to spend the last few months of their lives at Littlebourne. We thought it would be a difficult transition for them both after living very independently, but we needn't have worried. The staff at Littlebourne are full of warmth and care and make them feel welcome. We are so very grateful to the manager and the team for the care they gave to them both.
If you are looking for excellent care then look no further, my dad who recently passed away spent fifteen and a half months at Littlebourne House and I cannot fault them in anyway, their commitment and dedication are paramount in everything that they do. The care they gave to my dad and the other residents was brilliant, the home is clean, tidy and never once were there any bad odours, every member of staff was warm and welcoming, the gardens are beautiful and they have a garden house for private parties or just for some quiet space, if you are looking for a home for yourself or a family member then I highly recommend you pay a visit.
Both my mother and father were residents at Littlebourne House. My mother died just before Christmas from dementia and my father last month from Alzheimer’s. We cannot thank the staff enough for all their kindness, care and support. Both my parents were very happy there and benefited enormously from being there. We would recommend Littlebourne House without hesitation.
I have been involved with Littlebourne House Nursing Home for over twelve years. My step-father, who suffered from vascular dementia, lived there for over five years, my mother had various respite stays and then spent the last two years of her life at Littlebourne House, and because of the excellent care they both received, we support an elderly friend who has chosen to live at Littlebourne House. The home is family-owned, and the family are involved daily with the running of the home. Many staff have worked there for years, providing excellent continuity of care to residents. I cannot fault the loving care given to my family, nor would I hesitate to recommend Littlebourne House to anyone wanting to find a 'home from home' for their own relative. My experience is that they will be treated with love, care and respect.
My mother moved to Littlebourne House in October 2018, following a week in hospital, aged 99. She had been living in sheltered accommodation previously. Whilst in the sheltered accommodation she had little contact with others apart from family and carers. She suffered from falls, hospitalisation and multiple visits to the doctor. Since being at Littlebourne House her health has improved together with a more positive wellbeing. She is now aged 101 and takes part in all the activities that are on offer. She has even begun to paint again, a hobby that she gave up some twenty years ago. She enjoys the trips in the residential home's minivan which have now restarted as we come out of lockdown. She is proud of her successes in the bingo and quizzes. Mum enjoys the freedom to spend time in her room or join the others in the large conservatory, and when the weather allows to sit by the river in the manicured gardens. She also benefits from the hearing, sight, chiropodist and dental clinics.
I am a psychotherapist so I observed staff carefully before choosing. I did look elsewhere. I ruled out big companies. If you’ve worked in one you’ll know how computers become the patient! I didn't want insensitivity for my mum. Any hint of lack of respect, dignity or warmth – goodbye! My visits have all been unannounced. Littlebourne House has genuine warmth for all. Staff have time and communicate calmly and thoughtfully. There is constant kindness and encouragement. This is not another financially target-driven environment, thank God. The common rooms are bright and comfortable with some nice decorative touches. There are plenty of seating options. My mum speaks highly of the staff, the food, the beautiful garden and the amazingly well-chosen music! Although new to the home, Mum is already showing signs of being happier than in a long time. So much is about people. The choice of staff is superior to other homes that I have visited and the facilities are a huge bonus.
