View Full Details of Lyndhurst Rest Home LtdMy wonderful nan has been a resident here for around 20 months, she’s now in her 90s so it’s very important she is receiving the best care. We had some bad luck with previous care homes and finally I’m confident this is the right place for Nan and wouldn’t want her anywhere else. The communication is great I know I can contact them and my questions will be answered and when she first arrived the owner called me to discuss Nan's needs. We went through everything thoroughly to come up with a care plan so I was instantly reassured as I don’t live locally so I need to trust she’s in the best place. The activities are great, the coordinator who is in charge of the activities is so lovely and really cares about the residents and I love that Nan gets to socialise and join in. Nan has dementia and I feel Lyndhurst caters for residents with dementia really well and Nan is always clean and tidy. The staff do the little extra touches too like putting her hair in plaits and painting her nails.
My review overall is satisfactory. As a resident's next of kin, I know that she is well cared for. The cleanliness in the whole building is the best I have seen. The activities are excellent. Everyone (staff) are very supportive to relatives of the residents.
We had to arrange care for Mum very quickly following an extended stay in hospital. Staff at the Lyndhurst Rest Home saw us immediately, they were the only home to do so. Mum found the move from hospital to the home quite stressful but the staff were very sympathetic to Mum’s needs and feelings. This level of care has continued over the last ten months. Mum has a lovely room overlooking the sea. Staff have respected her views and needs whilst at the same time encouraging her to join in with the huge range of activities put on by the home. When there have been issues they have been dealt with promptly. The home is always clean and smells fresh. Staff are always friendly and helpful. I know that Mum is safe and well looked after which puts my mind at rest.
The home seems clean and friendly. It is warm too. The staff are usually cheerful and helpful. The atmosphere seems pretty good. Staff levels seem to have improved recently which means that waiting to be admitted or to be collected from the room and let out does not now take so long. It’s a pity my dad cannot have his hearing aid in permanently, as this obviously impacts his ability to listen to the tv and radio. He has settled in well however and the staff must take credit for that. He certainly never complains about conditions there. I do worry if there was ever a fire or other emergency, there have been excessive waits when pressing the alarm button in the past, and there does not seem to be an alternative exit strategy. These do seem to have reduced recently, but I have given only two stars for safety/security because of this worry.
My aunt spent nearly two very happy years at Lyndhurst, she was always well cared for and as her next of kin I was confident that she was receiving the best of care. Staff were always helpful and welcoming whenever I or her friends visited and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lyndhurst.
My father has been living at Lyndhurst Rest Home since March 2021 and is extremely happy there. The owners aren’t merely running a business, but are a family that genuinely care for their residents, muck in with the rest of the staff, and have done so for generations now. Anytime I call, each and every staff member is fully aware of how dad’s been doing that day/week and treat him like family. Dad, myself and our family feel safe in the knowledge he isn’t simply ‘in a home’, but is ‘at home’ here.
While my husband was in care at Lyndhurst he was treated with care and love by the staff. He enjoyed his time there and I knew he was being looked after.
I found Lyndhurst Rest Home to be caring and efficient in their care of our relative. Very pleased with all the activities arranged by the staff to keep everyone's spirits up. It used to be very difficult during lockdown but staff seemed to cope very well.
We just want to say what an amazing care home Lyndhurst is, and the care, love and compassion they gave our mum, was truly amazing during her stay there. She had lots of activities, such as summer and Christmas parties, entertainment, she loved art, and she would draw and paint. They were always so welcoming to us all as visitors and encouraged us to join in events whenever we could. We know she was very happy and cared for here. We highly recommend this place to care for your loved ones.
I don't really know where to begin to explain the care, kindness, patience and love shown to Mum during her stay at Lyndhurst. The home is bright and cheerful, warm and friendly and Mum had a room with an uninterrupted sea view. Everywhere is clean and welcoming with no nasty smells. The staff interact with all the residents and the home just feels "alive". Mum had many health issues while she lived there and the communication with myself was excellent. Sadly Mum recently had to move to a nursing home as her needs increased and it was really difficult to find somewhere as caring, warm and friendly as Lyndhurst. A really hard act to follow and I would definitely recommend it.
I find the care home clean and bright. Staff are always busy with residents and are friendly to relatives and visitors of residents. There are two issues which I found have not been resolved when reported, one was that the draw was not opening properly on the chest of drawers in my mum's room. I reported it and I believe the issue is still not resolved. I found one senior member of staff rude, condescending and rather blasé about a serious matter I had encountered with the home. Overall, besides these two issues, I say staff do a tremendous job with little reward and look after my mum well.
My Mother-in-Law was in this home for over 4 years. I always found the staff lovely, its a hard job for little reward. We didn't visit that often, but I would telephone regularly for updates on her. On the visits to the home, I always found her room to be smelly and not very clean, and on occasions, I found my mother-in-law was also dirty. On the day My mother- in law died I received a call from the manager. I called into the home a few days later to collect her personal belongings. I informed the manager of the date and place of her funeral. Not one member of staff attended the funeral or even sent flowers. I find this appalling. After all, she was a part of their family for over 4 years, not to send flowers is just not right.
I was sad that my aunt had to go into a care home, but Lyndhurst is a nice place and all the staff have bent over backwards to make auntie feel comfortable and cared for. They have helped me through this transition period and do seem to care about relatives as well as residents. I am confident that Lyndhurst Rest home is the right place for my aunt to be.
Mum has been a resident for four years now. She has been treated well, respectfully and with dignity. My visits are random and apart from one occasion I have never seen anything to make me concerned. The one incident was with the activities organiser and I did repeat it to senior staff. Not abuse but just not caring enough. The care staff have remained constant, care workers change but not that frequently which does give good continuity to residents.
The well oiled machine of Lyndhurst! In our family search for a suitable dwelling to meet mums needs. My sister had viewed the above as part of the search and then I joined her for the viewing. I found it to be excellently sited both in outlook to see and local amenities and prime position for local gatherings such as bank holiday. In essence good for community contact. The buildings approach is inviting and the foyer with its picture/observation windows made me feel immediately at ease. I could see Christmas there and was not disappointed. Mum has been there for two Christmases now and the place has completely lived up to the picture in my mind of the first visit. Through the managers and their staff we understand the philosophy and the model of Lyndhurst care and whilst the challenges mums health issues present, I, who had lived with her previously have seen a marked improvement in her ability to mix with others. The improvement in her weight through a good diet, her appearance with her daily care and on site hairdresser and all made comfortable by the wider picture with the ancillary staff especially during building works
