View Full Details of Pilgrims ViewI cannot recommend this care home enough, this was my mum's 3rd home in a short space of time due to dementia and from my first meeting, I immediately realised this was the one, as it turned out to be for several years. For me, the key is the absolutely fantastic staff, the care and consideration toward my mum was exceptional. Nothing was ever too much for anyone and communication was always excellent. I spent many happy hours wandering from end to end, lounge to lounge, as my mum liked to walk. There would often be a quick chat or joke with whoever's lounge I was passing through at the time. Over the years the staff became an extended family, sharing stories and making everything seem normal for myself & mum as best they could. Even when we got towards Mum's final days the care and humanity shown by everybody to keep my mum comfortable and keep me informed was beyond exceptional.
My husband was taken in Pilgrims View early this month, he is so happy there, the carers are all very nice and caring, the home itself is exceptionally clean as are all the residents, I could not wish for a better place than Pilgrims View, I come home after visiting my husband knowing that all his care needs are being cared for, thank you to all staff for all your loving care.
Exceptional standard of care carried out by a dedicated and caring professional workforce, who are always available for residents' needs and whatever unpleasant task. I would suggest the food menu should be more in keeping with the age of the clientele who are most probably more suited to that of earlier generations.
I have always found the people working at Pilgrims View to be very professional and caring, creating the right environment for the residents to feel welcome and at home. They take an interest in the residents, taking steps to understand what they like and what their needs are. There are no particular events in May that are any different to previous months, but in recent visits, as with previous visits, my aunt has nearly always been very comfortable and enjoying herself. There was one recent visit, where my aunt was generally not in a very good mood, but the staff took extra steps to try to understand what the issues were, and were able to diffuse the situation.
My siblings and I feel our Mum is kept safe and well, she has lived at Pilgrims View since July 2021. She is well known and respected by staff, residents and other families that visit. All the day/night staff team really do their best and work very hard to see that our Mum is cared for, although our Mum does not always take part in activities, they are there to encourage her if she chooses to at the last minute. When we raise any issues about our Mum's wellbeing either with the deputy or any of the seniors, it is acted upon promptly and we are updated.
I am extremely happy with the care my father receives from all staff at Pilgrims View. They always contact me to report any concerns and also to inform me of hospital appointments in order to let me organise transport.
The staff here are great, a few members of staff especially. My mum has been in the care home since August 2023 and the level of care has been good. I feel that the care home is let down by the lack of nurses that they have for minor things like changing bandages etc. I feel that to make a positive difference they should provide some training to the staff for this and then they do not need to rely on a local nurse to attend. My mum has forgotten the English language so they have had to improvise with the use of Italian phrases which is great.
Mum came to Pilgrims View in June 2023. The care home before wasn't right for Mum, so I contacted the council. I found Pilgrims View through them and did the virtual tour so as to see what it was like, and needless to say, I was very impressed. We visited the home just to make sure and again were pleasantly surprised as to how homely and lovely it is. I decided straight away that this would be the right placement for Mum. The staff who we met were so lovely, kind and attentive. At first, it seemed as though Mum wasn't eating or drinking, she was confused, and I was worried about her even more. But, as time has gone by, she is eating and drinking so much better, her mobility is a lot better and is slowly coming out of her shell. All because of your great staff encouraging her with eating etc, as she is now feeding herself. I am so happy she is now in her forever home, and I could not wish for anything more for her. I can't thank you all enough for looking after her. Keep up the good work.
Everyone exhibits a friendly and caring attitude; there is always a friendly face at the door. Staff know me and my husband, so I don't feel anonymous. I feel that all the staff are approachable and do their best to answer any queries. I know that if my husband is unwell, he will be referred to the GP or hospital services promptly. The liaison with my husband's named member of staff is working well. I am happy that my husband is well cared for here at Pilgrims View.
Happy with the carers and the support they give Dad. He is happy, so we are happy. Dad is often taken out to do things which he enjoys, and the carers go above and beyond to ensure all his needs are met.
Pilgrims View is amazing, Mum has been there about 6 weeks now and though it was one of the hardest decisions we have had to make, I now have no regrets with that decision, Mum is really enjoying being there and thinks everyone is amazing especially the care staff who she says she can’t fault for their care, kindness, and hard work looking after her and the rest of the residents. So thank you to everyone at Pilgrims for taking such fantastic care of my mum, you're amazing.
My mother is progressing through the stages of Alzheimer's. She still has so much life and joy for living, it was extremely difficult to make the decision to put her into care. However, the constant and intensity of support she now needs daily meant I couldn’t work or leave her alone at all. Her cognitive skills and mobility are still good but her memory has greatly deteriorated as have her independent living skills. I looked at many care homes and was very upset at what I saw. What drew me to Pilgrims View was not only the friendliness towards residents and family but the amount of activities being offered and the opportunity to go out. The opportunity for stimulation and to engage in meaningful activities is very important for my mum, alongside great care, kindness, positivity, cleanliness and stimulation. We live 4 miles away and are welcome to visit anytime without prior notice - a sign of having nothing to hide. I am so relieved and pleased with the environment at Pilgrims View.
Since my wife became a resident at Pilgrims View, I've spent a lot of time there with her. The staff and facilities are excellent. Since becoming a resident, my wife's condition has improved greatly, and it only took a short time for her to settle in thanks to the dedication of the staff. Being all on one level means everywhere is fully accessible to everyone, and the atmosphere is so friendly and feels as close to being at home as it can be. It means a great deal to be able to come and go as I please and I'm always made to feel welcome.
Staff are very friendly and caring, working at times under difficult circumstances. The staff make an effort to maintain a homely atmosphere. The residents look cared for, the lunches look appetising and my friend enjoys her meals.
The team have been amazing in their care of my mum. I really appreciate how much effort and fun they bring into every day for her. There is a continual stream of appropriate entertainment and the ability to sit quietly when she chooses. I think the balance is excellent.
Having made the difficult decision to place my dear husband into a care home in August 2022, I was made to feel very relaxed about it. The kindness of all the staff at Pilgrims was second to none, unfortunately in September 2022 he passed away in the home. Everyone was so lovely at this time and although hubby was only there for a short period of time he was cared for very very well. I have so much admiration for all the staff they go above and beyond in care homes, they really are special people.
Mum has been in the care of the staff at Pilgrim's View since July 2022 after leaving her home of 63 years. Our family were obviously fearful of the big change for her but as soon as we visited Pilgrim's View our fears were allayed. The compassionate attention of the staff towards Mum and the amount of, and effort put into the activities gave us all great comfort and 6 months down the line Mum is happier than we could ever have hoped for. Cannot recommend this brilliant home highly enough, especially the wonderful people who look after Mum so well in every respect.
It's always a pleasure visiting my dad at Pilgrims View. The staff are always very friendly and keen to do whatever is required to meet Dad's needs. He often comments on how lovely the staff are and has never said anything negative. Although Dad is difficult to feed nowadays, I have seen staff encouraging him to eat and are always upbeat. Well done, Pilgrims View.
My husband has been a resident for 18 months. The staff are supportive and caring to both residents and family. Big efforts are made for all birthdays, celebrations and festivities. Communication is good. Always smile, respect and patience shown to the residents. My husband is always clean and cared for.
Of all the care homes in all the world we're glad we picked yours (to be read in a Humphrey Bogart voice)! The only thing I can fault is that the outside of the building could do with a lick of paint. However, the following ratings speak for themselves.
