View Full Details of St Winifreds Care CentreFollowing a very difficult and stressful period of time, we were fortunate to find a room available in St Winifreds. All the staff have been so kind and caring which has played a major role in helping me to quickly settle in and get used to the routines and all that is available to me. I can't emphasize enough how much myself and my family needed this. My room is like a bedroom at home and is such a massive improvement to a room in a hospital. I do not mean to criticise the hospitals, as they have a different role to play.
St Winifred's Care Centre staff have been unbelievable in the care and attention they provided for my late husband. Looking after visiting relatives as well as my husband. The attention shown to me when my husband passed away was incredible. So a very big thank you to all the staff members.
I thought St Winifreds was the best home I had seen (being an ex-carer) they bent over backward. The care they go to to look after my husband was brilliant. I could not ask for better service. Just excellent for everything.
The management and staff are excellent compared to the last home. St Winifreds is so much better. Wished I had moved my Sister earlier.
It is one of the hardest decisions to make when choosing a care home for your loved one, but take a look at St Winifreds Care Centre when searching. The home is bright, warm and welcoming. The staff are caring and supportive, from the Manager to the nursing staff, carers, activities staff, catering, laundry and janitorial workers. (Sorry if I've missed anyone)! There is a resident chef who prepares a variety of fresh, nutritious food daily, to cater for all tastes, with vegetarian options available too. The dining room is very attractive with tables laid to a high standard, all with fresh flowers. Every day there are various activities provided by the Activities Coordinator and her team. The residents definitely enjoy the afternoon singalong! All residents are encouraged to join in but aren't pressured at all. There's a sense of fun. All staff engage with the residents but seem to know when a resident just needs a hug or a hand-hold for reassurance. I chose well!
My mum was a resident of St Winifreds Care Centre for a couple of months. She arrived not very enthusiastic but soon settled in and enjoyed the social element of this lovely home. Her care was outstanding. She enjoyed a very varied menu with the food fresh on site. Sadly Mum passed and she was treated with care and dignity. I can't thank St Winifred's carers and staff enough.
On a visit to see family members today, the whole experience was wonderful. I left my mother sitting in the car nearby while I went to see if I could park there. I met a young carer outside who couldn't have been more helpful and took me to the office where the charming lady in admin sorted me out. We had a lovely time with our family, who were obviously happy and well cared for in a very nice double room. We had a great time catching up and hope to go back in a couple of weeks.
Throughout the time my sister has resided with you I feel she has been treated with much kindness, respect and dignity.
My mum was a resident from December 2022 until she passed in June 2024. The care she received was second to none. The staff took the time to get to know Mum and she was more than just a resident. Mum loved the activities, always having freshly painted nails, knitting, singing and quizzes. The end-of-life care they provided was incredible. They were kind, compassionate and so gentle with Mum and us as a family. We camped out there for 4 days and they made us meals, washed our clothes and provided towels for a shower. Nothing was too much trouble. The home itself is clean and secure and the food always smells delicious. You won't find a better home or staff to take care of your loved ones. They treat them like family.
Very pleasant home with welcoming and helpful staff. Cleanliness and security are very important, all visitors are encouraged to think about the security of residents and to leave doors and gates secure. Care and medical support is provided professionally and always with empathy. All staff in all areas seem to be cheerful and happy to work and provide any assistance at any time.
My brother was transferred from a hospice to St Winifred's for end-of-life care. It was his wish to go there and they looked after his needs/problems extremely well. He was happy and comfortable and was grateful to all the staff for looking after him. My wife and I extend our thanks for all the care they gave my brother and can recommend the care home to anyone wishing and in need of their service.
Caring facility. I'm so happy my mother is a resident there. The staff are all amazing, warm, friendly, professional and very caring.
If there is ever a health concern or other problem, I am always promptly contacted with details of the issue, what is being done and if I have any comments myself. This month, saw Mother celebrating her 90th birthday, and despite being very busy, all the wonderful staff went beyond expectations to make this a special day for us all. I am always made welcome with a cheerful smile and any questions answered and concerns rectified. It is a lovely arrival and hearing happy singing. Also, there are never any bad smells, always fresh smelling.
The staff were so kind to my father-in-law as he was at the end of his life. They kept him comfortable and pain-free. They also really looked after my mother-in-law when she visited, showing such care and compassion. We could not have asked for more in such sad circumstances.
They are looking after him very well and keeping him safe, making sure he doesn't fall. The nursing staff are knowledgeable and proactive in treating infections early, to prevent hospital stays.
My mother has been a resident at St Winifred's since mid-July 2023 where she was sent directly from a hospital stay when it sadly became clear she could no longer cope at home. It has been a great relief to our family to know that she is cared for and safe in her new environment. I have nothing but respect and admiration for the dedicated and caring staff I have encountered every day. When shopping for a home, I was advised to look out for how the staff engage, well on every point they have met and at times surpassed our expectations. The nurses and carers are amazing and really understand how to work with challenging dementia patients. Of course not every day is perfect and whenever I have had a concern, the manager and/or liaison officer have listened and heard me. I know it's safe to let them know if something isn't quite right on the odd occasion and they will get to the bottom of it and fix it. We feel fortunate that we found St Winifred's.
My parents came to live here in March and a suitable room was found for them to share. My father recently died and the staff were extremely kind and caring to him and my mum. I was particularly pleased that two members of staff were able to assist my mother to dad's funeral in a wheelchair using the minibus. This enabled her to go to the church, the burial and the wake and meet old friends. Wonderful.
It’s a difficult decision when putting a relative in for respite, you worry if they will be happy and cared for. From the moment I spoke to the first member of staff on the phone, I felt comforted. My father has Alzheimer’s and dementia and does need nursing care. They invited us over for a visit and asked me to take Dad. It was such a lovely welcome. The clients seemed very happy. All staff seemed so friendly, some were sitting in the rest room doing activities. The restaurant (their own eating area) was set so beautifully and all home-cooked food! It’s the little things. His room was very clean and I explained that he liked looking out the window. They immediately changed the room around and got the chair by the window. All the staff we came across were extremely kind and caring, with the most welcoming smiles and they seemed so caring it was a pleasure to meet you all. My dad has had three weeks respite. He was so happy and that’s all I needed. Dad will definitely be back. Thank you.
My husband is a resident at this home and is very happy here. I find the staff all very kind and pleasant. They keep me in touch with all the things going on with my husband, which I find reassuring as I am not in good health myself and can't go and see him very often.
The staff at St Winifreds have made a massive difference to my dad's well-being. He was barely able to walk when he arrived; he now walks unaided, his skin integrity was poor, and it is now better than ever; this is a massively person-centred home. It is very clean and tidy, and the food and activities are excellent.
