View Full Details of Wychdene Care HomeMy father has been living at Wychdene for 10 months now and has settled in very well. The staff are amazing and care for him very well. It was so sad when dad developed dementia and had to give up his home of 50 years but Wychdene is a home-from-home. It is a family.
My mother is treated with love and respect by all the staff of Wychdene. I could not wish for a better place for her. All her special needs are met and pre-empted. It seems that nothing is too much trouble for the staff they always appear happy and this rubs off on the residents.
My mother was cared for with love, preserving her comfort and her dignity until the end. She lived here for three years and always spoke very highly of all the staff who cared for her. I only ever observed kindness and care, including the times when my elderly mother was being difficult or displaying prejudice. The staff were very good at gently persuading my mother to participate in social activities. She wasn’t a naturally sociable person but benefited from being in the company of others. Equally, they recognised when she just wanted to be in her own space. I know, from conversations I had with her, that the catering was ‘tweaked’ to cater for foods that she particularly liked or missed. She appreciated that. She always commented on the good quality and quantity of food.
My mother had the best care in Wychdene, I couldn’t ask for better. All the staff from the management, carers, kitchen, laundry and maintenance. The home is a very happy home and the staff have always got a smile on their faces. They were all very easy to approach about anything and nothing was too much trouble. At my mother's end of life, they did everything to make it better for the whole family and made sure my mother was always clean, her hair done amazing and was treated with dignity. I could not have coped at the end without the wonderful staff. I would recommend this home to anyone. Thank you Wychdene.
