View Full Details of Acorn HouseWe looked at many care homes and finally struck gold with Acorn House, my partner settled in really easily with the other residents and made friends almost instantly, the food is really nice, I even get offered lunch if I visit at the right time, the atmosphere always feels warm and welcoming when I visit and the staff are amazing, nothing seems to much trouble, always smiling and very attentive from what I've seen and what my partner tells me, my partner was lucky enough to be able to choose a lovely decorated room in the new wing recently built. I'd like to thank everyone at Acorn for making my partner and me very welcome.
A huge thank you to all the staff who have been so accommodating, kind and helpful. The facilities are fantastic and I fully recommend Acorn House to anyone looking for care which goes above and beyond. Thank you.
This is a fantastic care home. What makes it fantastic is without a doubt the staff and the attention to detail that they show to the residents. My dad has been there since September 2024 and he gets amazing care. Being a relatively small home, the staff all get to know the likes/dislikes of each resident. They accommodate those, whether that's with food, TV or conversation. Nothing's too much trouble. The food is great. Proper vegetables! Tea, coffee and biscuits are brought around throughout the day. There's fresh fruit available all the time and also freshly baked cakes with their tea. All food is prepared on-site. The residents have the choice to stay in their rooms or be in the TV lounge with others. There are activities a couple of times a week - could be chair exercise, arts and crafts or this week they had miniature ponies in to meet the residents. When we viewed it, the manager described their style as "resident-led led" and that's exactly what it is. Brilliant.
I came to visit my dear friend at Acorn House. I must say how impressed I was with the whole setup. My friend is very happy here he explained the staff are very friendly, its very clean and the food is good. It did look delicious. I was offered refreshments which were lovely. I had a good visit and I'm so happy my friend is being so well looked after. I would definitely recommend Acorn House.
Perfectly delightful. I came to visit my friend's mum before Christmas. I found Acorn House to be well-run clean and very welcoming. There was a great Christmas feel and everyone seemed to be in the festive spirit. The residents seemed happy and well looked after. My friend's mum couldn't be happier it was a pleasure to see. Can't sing this homes praise enough, keep up the good work.
After our initial visit to look around, we knew immediately Acorn House was the best setting for our mum. The care and attention all staff provided was first class and I cannot fault them. Sadly, our mum was a resident for a few months before passing away, but on each visit, Mum would always praise the staff on how good they looked after her. She called them "Angels" and we agree with that statement 100%. If you are concerned about where to find a placement for your loved one, would say, Acorn House would be the setting for them. It took an immense amount of worry and pressure off the family knowing our mum received the very best care. We cannot thank the management and staff enough. We will be forever grateful for your continuous care and support for both our mum and the family.
Acorn House is amazing, the staff are truly wonderful, nothing is too much trouble, the care and understanding is above and beyond and the food and quality is simply superb, I would highly recommend this lovely place.
After looking at a few care homes for our mum we knew instantly that Acorn House was the one. The main part of the property is an older building with beautiful features and high ceilings with more modern airy/ bright rooms set on two floors. It has a real family/homely feel to it and the staff including management are down-to-earth, caring, and approachable. Our mum has dementia but has settled at Acorn House like we never would have thought possible. She loves her little room calling it ' home sweet home'. We made the right choice for our mum and feel lucky to have found Acorn house.
My dad has been a resident in Acorn House for a few months. We were worried after our mum passed if it was the right thing to do. The manager and staff have been amazing no request is a problem. He is really happy there and is socialising again which we thought he would never do. He joins in all the activities which is great. The staff are super friendly The home is clean and the food is great. I would recommend Acorn to anyone.
As the second person from our close family to be cared for at Acorn House my wife became a resident at the beginning of August. The manager and her team of carers had previously looked after my mother and when we learnt that my wife might need long-term care Acorn House was top of our list. From the time that we first contacted them this time we have received care, support, consideration and guidance above and beyond the call of duty. The whole team have been very kind and nothing has been too much trouble in getting my wife settled in and then providing care for her on an ongoing basis. There is a good range of activities offered and all the other residents have also proved very friendly. My wife's room is light and airy, she raves about how comfortable the bed is and really enjoys the food. I would have no hesitation in recommending Acorn House to others looking for a home from home with exceptional care provided.
Acorn House is a fantastic care home with excellent facilities and delicious food. The staff are very friendly and attentive, and they make sure that all of the residents are well-cared for by going above and beyond. My mother is very happy living there. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-maintained, and there are plenty of common areas for residents to socialize and spend time with their families and other residents. Overall, Acorn House is a wonderful place for the residents to call home. Choosing to put a loved one in a care home was a very difficult decision, and we are so grateful that we chose this home and that my mother is able to live there happily and comfortably.
Having carried out extensive research for a care home, for a close family friend, in the area I can honestly say that Acorn House is by far the best choice. The facilities are excellent and the residents all seemed to be in the best of spirits (health allowing) during our visit. The management and staff were exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful and answered all our questions and concerns in full. Our initial impression of Acorn House proved to be correct as our resident we placed there is very happy and content. We would have no hesitation in recommending Acorn House to someone looking for exceptional care for their elderly relative.
My mother-in-law has been in Acorn House for over 3 years. The staff and carers are all exceptionally professional and dedicated. The home is relatively small and very friendly. They are approachable at any time day or night, my wife can chat to staff get a full update on how my mother-in-law is doing. This gives my wife and the family great peace of mind that she is getting the best possible care. It’s a very difficult decision to have to make when you are no longer able to give your loved ones the care they need at home but all at Acorn House made the transition to residential living as stress-free as possible for everyone. We were very impressed with the levels of protection and safeguards during the height of the pandemic and the procedures put in place to enable us to remain in touch. There are very minimal carer staff changes, some having been there for many years, which is very important to dementia patients to have familiarity of carers. I would thoroughly recommend them.
My Uncle was a resident at Acorn for 6 years. Throughout his stay he was treated with the utmost dignity and respect despite him being a trouble maker at times, these scenarios which we can now look back at and laugh were always dealt with in a professional manner. Nothing was ever too much and I was always kept informed of his health and wellbeing, it was most definitely at the forefront of Acorn's mind. In 2020 during the Pandemic rules were always abided by but during a lockdown gap the staff were kind enough with full PPE included to put on a small party for his 104th Birthday, this was a memory to treasure for us and the staff made it incredibly special. His two main carers went way above and beyond what they needed to and especially, they went back into the home out of hours during his end of life care to sit with him in his final days and this is in my eyes true compassion and love for the patients. The Manager is amazing. Thank you.
After relocating my dad from Yorkshire down to Medway, we had some concerns that he would settle after such a major change in his life at 91 years of age. But since moving into Acorn House he has been made to feel very much 'at home' with all of the staff making him very welcome. The team led by the manager quickly identified an issue with his medication, that his previous home had missed, which when corrected brought significant changes to his quality of life. He is now very settled at Acorn House, joining in with activities that I would never have thought he would have an interest in, which is great. All of the staff have been marvellous, extremely caring, and on top of any issues that arise and we are kept fully informed of any problems or changes. Even during the lockdown, they have made it as easy as possible to keep in touch with my dad either by phone or video call. Acorn House is a small, friendly and caring care home that I would highly recommend.
Mum has been at Acorn House for nearly four years, and within that time my sister and myself have had peace of mind that Mum is being cared for in every way. The management are very approachable and deal with any problems efficiently. Likewise, with the care staff, if I have a query they try their best to help.
Acorn House came highly recommended from someone that had visited many local care homes in a professional capacity. Both management and staff are all very friendly and professional and nothing is too much trouble. During the lockdown all staff have been exemplary. I felt despite the concerns in the national Media regarding care homes that my mother was in the safest place possible. All Safety procedures were not only observed but exceeded to a high standard, while still ensuring all residents were comforted and reassured in what must be a stressful situation to see carers in masks. Various types of communication were made available to ensure that both family and residents remained in contact. The Coronavirus lockdown was Carefully explained to residents in a sensitive way so as not to distress them too much. I feel confident that my mother is safe and in the best place that can meet all her needs.
My relative entered the home some time ago. At first I was very worried that they would not like living in a care home but they settled in really quickly. The staff were fantastic I could not be happier, every time I leave I feel we made the right decision.
I came to the home to visit my friend and could not have been happier with the way my friend was being treated by the staff. She was very happy had just completed a group activity and had made several good friends. Before she had been at home and lonely now she was thriving with her new friends.
I have visited the home on several occasions in the last three months to visit a family member. The residents always seem content and happy and seem to want for nothing. My family member is always happy and I am so glad we choose this home.
